WateReuse Arizona 2014 Scholarship The application deadline is June 15, 2014.WateReuse Arizona will award two (2) scholarships of two-thousand five hundreddollars ($2,500) each to Arizona university and college students. The purpose ofthis award is to encourage full-time students with a focus on wastewaterreclamation, water reuse, and/or desalination. The scholarships will be awarded inJuly 2014 at the Watereuse AZ Board Meeting in Marana, Arizona. USGIF Scholarship Announcement Students studying geospatial intelligence or any related field are encouraged tosubmit their applications by the April 25, 2014 deadline.

Last year the Foundation awarded $107,000 to 25 recipients and plans to awardat least $100,000 for the 2014 program. Scholarships awarded are $5,000 each!!Since 2004, USGIF has awarded $584,000 in scholarship funding to promisingstudents in the geospatial intelligence field.

Students studying in fields such as geography, political science, physics, computerscience, engineering, biology, anthropology, sociology or any field in the naturaland social sciences are encouraged to apply. Fellowship Opportunity for Grad School at UA

The Graduate College will award 2 Harvill Fellowship awards for fall 2014. Weare looking for UA undergraduates (domestic or international) who

· 1. Will complete a bachelor’s degree this May (2014),

· 2. Will be admitted to a UA doctoral program for fall 2014, and

· 3. Have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.50 or higher.

The Harvill Fellowship provides an annual stipend of $12,000, disbursed intwo equal payments between the fall and spring terms AND a GraduateTuition Scholarship that covers base graduate level tuition (not the differentialtuition assessed by some programs) for each semester of award. The Tonto National Forest needs a college student/recent graduate to complete crucialdatabase and GIS work to meet the 10 year Wilderness Stewardship Challenge for ourwilderness areas. The forest currently faces a backlog of data related to the WSC fieldinventories that are managed via FS corporate databases. This data in turn will providethe GIS maps necessary to take appropriate management actions which will benefitwilderness stewardship and performance in terms of the challenge. The intern willcomplete the extensive data entry, formulate the appropriate GIS maps, and workclosely with district and forest recreation staff to identify management needs/actionswhile gaining valuable on-the-job training. The individual would work from the hire dateuntil September 26th, 2014. Major Duties:

Use basic knowledge of the fundamentals of computers, surveying, geodesy,photogrammetry, mapping, engineering, Geographic Information Systems (GIS),as they relate to accomplishing GIS tasks.Create and update geospatial data layers that support GIS analysis.Assist in developing geo-referenced digital databases and digitally derived mapproducts.Assist in creation of GIS data products.Capture Lat/Long field data and transfers into appropriate GIS data layer.Use common GIS software and relational database management systemsoftware (e.g., Microsoft Access and SQL Server).Inputs both routine and complex spatial and non-spatial digital data into draftformat and performs necessary and proper verification and checking proceduresto ensure the resultant database or drawing files are as free as possible fromerror.
