The $5 million lawsuit, filed on Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court, refers to O’Connor as a “des-perate attention-seeker” and claims Hall and O’Connor have not spoken in 25 years.

Prince died on April 21 at Paisley Park, his home-studio complex in a Minneapolis suburb. A law enforce-ment source with knowledge of the investigation told Reuters prescrip-tion opioid drugs were found at the scene, and Minnesota media said the painkiller Percocet was found in his system.

Results from an autopsy could take weeks to be released publicly, authorities have said.

On Monday, the Irish singer,

whose biggest hit was her 1990 version of the Prince song “Noth-ing Compares 2 U,” posted a note on her Facebook page claiming Hall supplied drugs to Prince for years.

“Two words for the DEA inves-tigating where prince got his drugs over the decades... Arsenio Hall,” the post said.

O’Connor also claimed Hall, a former late-night talk show host, “spiked” her with an unknown drug years ago at a party.

Hall’s lawsuit said O’Connor’s statements had quickly gone viral, causing “substantial harm” to his reputation.

“O’Connor’s heinous accusations

that Hall engaged in this criminal conduct are despicable, fabricated lies,” the complaint said.

In a Facebook post on Friday titled “Regarding Arse-inio Hall’s laughable threats,” O’Connor said she was “amused” by his accusa-tions and added that authorities were taking her allegations seri-ously.

“I do not like drugs killing musicians. And I do not like Arsenio Hall,” O’Connor wrote, before adding an expletive-laden insult.

Prince had been scheduled to meet with a doctor specializing in addiction treatment the day after his death, a lawyer for the doctor said on Thursday. Federal authorities, in-cluding the Drug Enforcement Ad-ministration, also said on Thursday they had joined the investigation of the singer’s death. (rtr)

The “K3” units are there to prevent work related accidents that could result in serious injury or death.

Very few schools in Bali offer specialized programs in K3, what they do have is environmental health programs (kerling). Even Udayana University does not offer courses in K3, although they do include such material in certain graduate level classes, said Dr. Samatra. The faculty of medicine, teaches K3 but it would be much better if such studies were spe-cialized, explained Dr. Samatra. “Companies are required to have

K3 units in place so as to help prevent work related accidents”, he said.

Rector of The Medika Persada Institute of Health Sciences, Bali, Prof. Dr.dr. I Made Bakta, Sp.PD., KHOM., said that K3 units deal with health and safety in companies, and so they are in high demand in tourism and other industries where safety is a priority and that big hotels and factories are required to have k3 units onsite. “If this requirement can be fulfilled our workplace safety will be greatly improved both for workers and for companies”, he said. For the moment, very few institutes of higher learning in Indonesia of-fer specialization in K3. “There

is one in Batam, one in Semarang and one in Kediri. In Bali, IIK Medika Persada Bali is the only school that offers a bachelors in K3, but very few people know about it”, he added.

Not many people are aware about this K3 program, said Dr. Samatra, because: “we are the first one in Bali and pioneers in Indo-nesia”. K3 is very much needed in the tourism industry, especially for hotels, because with the AEC now in effect, international standards need to be met, so every institution that has employees needs to have a K3 graduate working for them. According to Dr. Samatra, K3 units are necessary for the development of industries, including the tourism industry in Bali. (kmb42)

TaBaNaN — Bali has a great potential in tourism, not only in terms of marine tourism but also in terms of agrotourism, cultural tourism, historical tourism, na-ture reserves etc. Some circles even devel-op the existing potential into educational tourism, medical tourism and so on.

Tourism development also makes the owner of The Sila’s Agrotourism namely IM Sila Dana to develop a cycling tour with guaranteed array of beautiful views of the estates (agrotourism) he has.

According to him, currently the cycling tour is in vogue. Other than being able to see the pan-oramic view, visitors can also receive education from the places passed through. “For example, we start the tour from the mountain. Then, all the participants ride through farmland or for-est. It becomes one of the favorite attractions to domestic and foreign travelers,” said the man from Batusesa hamlet, Candikuning, Baturiti, Tabanan recently.

Similarly, Bali has some locations that can be taken advantage for cycling tours and they have different segments. Bedugul, for instance, has various tracks such as agricultural land and forests, Jatiluwih currently being worked on for paddy field track as well as Gianyar is worked on with the track of historic heritage.

“So, it contains an element of sport and edu-cation,” said the man who has an opportunity to attend a short course in Sydney Australia.

In addition to cycling tour, according to him, in the future the much-loved tourist attraction is agrotourism such as snakefruit agrotourism or horticultural agrotourism. “I think it will become favorite attraction because the concept of tourism is what to see, what to do and what to buy from it,” he said. SANDUSKY — The “roller coaster capital of the world’ is showing off its newest addition this weekend.

Cedar Point, in Sandusky, Ohio, is home to the new roller coaster that’s opening to the public on Saturday, the same day the park opens for the season.

Valravn (VAL’-ray-vuhn) gives riders a sweeping view of Lake Erie before dropping them over 200 feet on a 90-degree free fall that hits a top speed of 75 mph.

It also turns riders upside down three times.

The roller coaster has already broken records. It’s now recognized as the world’s tallest, fastest and longest dive coaster.

Valravn is Cedar Point’s 18th roller coaster. Only Six Flags Magic Moun-tain, in Santa Clarita, California, has more roller coasters with 19. (ap)

“Proposal of the ticket price increase has long got input from tour guides. Moreover, the price of ticket at Goa Lawah is the lowest compared to other tourist attractions,” said the treasurer of Goa Lawah Temple, Putu Juliadi, Friday (May 6).

According to him, the price of admission ticket to Goa Lawah attraction remains IDR 4,000 for children and IDR 6,000 for adults. This amount is far below the price of ticket at Kerta Gosa tourist at-traction reaching IDR 12,000. Ac-tually Goa Lawah attraction offers

the uniqueness denoting a mix of natural and cultural attraction. “We also just charge the rental of sarong at IDR 10,000 if guests do not bring a sarong,” he said.

With the current conditions, Putu Juliadi also assessed the need for amendment of admission ticket price to the Goa Lawah attraction. Moreover, raising the ticket price will at least increase the regionally generated revenue (PAD) through the tourist attraction better known as the cave inhabited by fruit bats. Not to mention, the current admis-sion ticket price has been in effect since 2013. “Ideally, the entrance ticket is now IDR15,000. But in

this case, the authority lies in the government. We are just running the management,” he said.

However, Putu Juliadi nick-named as Lembo hoped there will be adjustment for ticket price. Moreover, recently the tourist visit to Goa Lawah begins to increase with daily average reaching 75 to 100 people on a normal day. “Now, it begins to rise up to 150 to 160 people per day,” he explained.

The tourist visits to Goa Lawah is predicted to increase continuously because peak of the tourist visit will take place from June to August. During these months many foreign travelers come due to holiday season.

“At the peak of tourist visit, tourist arrivals can reach 300 to 350 people. Most of the travelers come from Ger-many or other European countries in general,” he said.

One of the travelers from France, James, when met at the location said that he was happy to make a visit to Goa Lawah tourist attrac-tion. Moreover, Goa Lawah has quiet temple located near the beach. When having spare time, he admit-ted to come back to Goa Lawah in the future. Moreover, the area of Goa Lawah is very clean and beautiful. “It’s very unique because there are bats and temple,” he said escorted by his tour guide. (kmb)

BANGLI - Guliang Kangin Tourism Village, famous for at-tracting tourists with its traditional agriculture, will soon develop a new tourist attraction: melon agro tourism. They have prepared 5000 melon seeds that will be ready for planting in the rice planting season -a month or so from now.

Village head of Guliang Kangin, Ngakan Putu Suarsana said on Friday (Apr 6) that the idea of de-veloping melon agro tourism first came from the Regent of Bangli, Made Gianyar. Suarsana explained that the regent hopes to combine Gulaing Kangin Tourism Village’s existing tourists attractions with melon agro tourism. Based on the

type of soil found in the village, melons were chosen as an ideal crop to plant. “A team from UGM (Gajah Mada University) sur-veyed the area of Guliang Kangin Tourism Village”, said Suarsana who went on to explain that the results of the survey showed that the type of soil found in Guliang Kangin is in fact highly suitable for growing melons.

Generally speaking, said Su-arsana, melons grow well at an altitude of about 200 meters above sea level. After conducting their survey, the team from UGM gave out 5000 melon seeds. “The melon seeds that we were given are a special variety developed by

the Melon Research Team from UGM’s Faculty of Biology”, he explained.

The plan is to plant these seeds on Subak Geria’s land in about a month’s time. The farmers will be backed by the Melon Team during the trial phase. If they are successful, more melons will be planted so that Guliang Kangin Tourism Village can become the centre of melon production on the island. Apart from serving to attract tourists and being sold for profits, the melons are expected to be able to deter farmers from sell-ing or converting their farmlands to buildings. (kmb40)

Bali News International4 Monday, May 9, 2016 13InternationalMonday, May 9, 2016

LONDON - It was January 2016 and oil prices had crashed to their lowest in more than a decade.

Saudi Arabia’s health minister, Khalid al-Falih, a favourite to take over the oil ministry from his mentor Ali al-Naimi, was not panicking.

Falih told an audience of oil executives, bankers and policymakers at the World Eco-nomic Forum in Davos that the world’s top oil exporter might benefit from oil below $30 per barrel.

It could help to speed up reform and restructure the economy, and move Saudi Arabia to a smaller and more effective government and unleash its private sector, he said.

For decades Saudi Arabia, a de facto leader of OPEC, had targeted certain oil price levels. If it did not like the price, it would try to or-chestrate a production cut or increase together with its fellow OPEC members.

Things were different this time. For the first time in decades, output cuts were not on the agenda to fix the growing global glut that Saudi Arabia helped create by ramping up supply to drive higher-cost producers such as U.S. shale firms out of the market.

Also for the first time in decades, a royal rather than a non-royal - Deputy Crown Price Mohammed bin Salman - had been appointed

a few month earlier to oversee Saudi oil poli-cies and drive the massive change.

Do you not think Prince Mohammed, who is just 30, is doing it all a bit too fast for the generally conservative Saudi society, Falih was asked.

“The Royal Highness is very ambitious where he wants Saudi Arabia to be sooner rather later. I can assure you that everybody who works around him is very excited by his vision and energized by his energy,” Falih told the audience.

“Some people were concerned that we were too slow in the past.. As a former runner, I can tell you that it helps to go through sprints at times to develop your muscular strengths. We are accelerating reform.”

The writing was on the wall, said the ex-ecutives leaving the Davos conference. Falih would soon become oil minister reporting to Prince Mohammed, who is quickly turning into the world’s most powerful oil figure.

Three months later, Prince Mohammed had a chance to showcase his might when he effectively ordered the Saudi delegation led by Naimi not to agree to a global production freeze deal with OPEC and non-OPEC Russia.

Fellow OPEC members accused Naimi, who initially said he liked the deal, of no longer speaking with the voice of authority. Three weeks later on Saturday, Naimi was

gone and Falih became energy minister.“It is an end of an era when Naimi fought

hard and struggled to create a price environ-ment which would have been good for both consumers and producers,” said Gary Ross, a veteran OPEC watcher and founder of New York-based consultancy PIRA.

“We are moving to a new era where OPEC will no longer be managing the market while supply and demand will determine the price. The new Saudi oil leadership believes the market will dictate the price and that means higher volatility. We will see higher highs and lower lows,” Ross said. (rtr)

Turnbull, whose Liberal-National coalition is running neck-and-neck in opinion polls with the centre-left Labor opposition, visited Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove in the capital, Canberra, to seek the dissolution of both houses of parliament.

He told a media conference Austra-lians faced a clear choice: “To stay the course, maintain the commitment to our national economic plan for growth and jobs, or go back to Labor with its higher taxing, higher spending, debt-and-deficit agenda.”

The official start to the two-month election campaign was widely expected after Turnbull confirmed on Wednesday he would seek a July 2 poll to cash in on a budget plan outlined the day before aimed at creating jobs and spurring growth.

A Seven-ReachTEL poll published on Saturday - the first to factor in reaction to the budget - had Turnbull’s Liberal-National coalition and Labor both on 50 percent support on a two-party preferred basis, under which votes for minor parties are redistributed to the two main blocs.

Turnbull has consistently outpolled

Labor leader Bill Shorten in terms of personal popularity but his government has struggled to propose an alternative to Labor’s big-spending promises on health and education.

A decade-plus mining boom in re-source-rich Australia and plummeting commodity prices have left the govern-ment struggling to raise revenue. As a result, Treasurer Scott Morrison was unable to offer too many vote-winning incentives in Tuesday’s budget.

With the polls narrowing, the govern-ment is keen to persuade voters that it alone can be trusted to manage an econ-omy hampered by a once-in-a-century mining downturn.

Australia has gained a reputation in recent years for unsettling investors with a revolving door of prime ministers - Turnbull became the fourth leader in two years when he deposed predecessor Tony Abbott in an internal party coup in September.

Under Australia’s political system, the governor-general is the representa-tive of the head of state, Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II. (rtr)

AMLAPURA - Karangasem so-ciety seemingly cannot expect too much from the Telaga Waja raw water source. It happens because the main pipes draining water to each district alternately burst. The last burst hap-pened to the pipeline passing through Duda village, Selat, Friday (May 6). It was triggered by the trial conducted last Friday where the pipe was unable to withstand the amount of water dis-charge from Telaga Waja.

The burst of the Telaga Waja raw water pipeline was exactly located next to the bridge at village Duda, near the home of former Deputy Regent of Karangasem I Gusti Lanang Rai, around 15:00. One of the local resi-dents, Nengah Rata, said the burst was the third time at the same point. Once the burst occurred, the local authori-ties immediately stopped the water flowing into the local pipeline. By that way, the water is not discharged into the river wastefully. Such incident made the people wonder why the Te-laga Waja raw water project is still not completed whereas it has been worked on for years.

“Every time making the trial, the pipe continues to burst. We do not know how long this will happen. When will people be able to enjoy the water?” said the community leader of Duda village.

Fortunately the burst did not harm

the surrounding community as well as road users. Local residents became alarmed because in the trial process the burst can occur anywhere along the path passed through by the large-sized pipe. Rata asked the government of Bali Province and Karangasem to explain about the fate of the pipeline project to the surrounding community. If the pipes always burst every time making the trial, the community will never get the water flow.

Actually, the waiting list of water connection application in all the sub-districts so as to receive clean water from the Telaga Waja River has oc-curred for many years.

In addition, he also suggested the central and provincial government to recheck the pipe specifications. Allegedly the bursts continue to occur because specifications of the Telaga Waja raw water pipes do not meet the standards for draining water. Similar burst at the same point also occurred 10 days ago. At another point, the burst also occurred recently at Pidpid Kaler Dauh Margi, Pidpid village, Abang, on April 7. At that time, the pipe of approximately 70 cm in diameter buried in the depth of one meter suddenly burst and gave out a large enough amount of water.

Up to now, the operation of the Telaga Waja raw water source re-

mains unclear. Such condition has long been questioned by many par-ties. The government of Karangasem has repeatedly communicated to the Bali Working Unit for Waterworks Management Development (PKPAM), UPT Telaga Waja, and the Bali Pub-lic Works. However, the follow-up on the issue of pipe burst and water flow to the community stays unclear. Likewise, the collaboration plan with the PDAM Karangasem is not clear. As planned, the water production of Telaga Waja will be purchased by the PDAM Karangasem and resold to customers in all subdistricts. However, the extent to which the cooperation is established is not yet known to the public because so far more than 1,000 households are on the waiting list of the PDAM.

Reservoir of the Telaga Waja River is located at Batudesa hamlet, Me-nanga, Rendang. The water source has a large enough capacity, reaching ap-proximately 10,000 cubic meters per second. It sources from five springs located at Tegenan customary village, Rendang. They are consisting of the Surya, Gerubuk, Bangol, Celuk and Isah spring. From the reservoir, the pipe with diameter of 70 cm stretches eastward across seven subdistricts. They are Rendang, Kubu, Selat, Side-men, Bebandem, Abang, Manggis and Karangasem. (kmb31)

According to the Chairman of the APL Pejarakan, Komang Agus Arnawa, Indomaret at Pejarakan has violated the Regional Bylaw No.10/2013. “This in-dicates the attitude of the modern store (Indomaret) that does not want to be regulated in investing in Buleleng dis-trict,” he said in a statement on Saturday (May 7).

He explained the Indomaret modern store seems to have been opened by force despite having no permit. Status of the modern store, according to Agus Arnawa, is an illegal franchise. “We deplore the police authority guarding and securing the opening of the modern store by force which is evidently in the position of violat-ing the regulation,” he explained.

Previously, he said that he already con-ducted hearings at the office of Pejarakan headman on March 24, 2016. At that time, Commission I of the Buleleng House as-sessed if the modern store has violated the applicable legislation. The meeting with the regent of Buleleng on April 1, 2016 and site inspection of Commission I of the Buleleng House of Representa-tives on May 3, 2016 must be understood in relation to the prohibition against the establishment of modern store.

“Together with other merchants, we reject the Indomaret. It is breaking the laws as located less than 500 meters from traditional market. Indomaret is indirectly worried to harm local merchants in the vicinity,” he said. (kmb34)

The burst of the Telaga Waja raw water pipeline was exactly located next to the bridge at village Duda, near the home of former Deputy Regent of Karangasem.

Association of Pejarakan local merchants rejects modern store

SINGARAJA - Local merchants association (APL) at Pejarakan village, Gerokgak, intensely rejected the existence of modern stores in their area. The modern store rejected is Indomaret. The protest directed to this chain store even ended in a demonstration and it was mediated by the Buleleng House of Representatives. It has even inspected to the field because it has violated the Regional Bylaw No.10/2013 and the modern store was then asked to comply with the law.

Fourteen youngsters who raped and killed 14-year-old Yuyun in Bengkulu Province, Sumatra, had been influenced by alcoholic drinks and pornographic content, she said. “The triggers, I think, are pornographic content and alcoholic beverages,” she said.

Therefore, parents must open their eyes to the possibility that their children might have accessed pornographic content from foreign as well as domestic sites, she re-marked. To stop them from doing that, parents must also adapt them-selves to information technology, she added.

The minister cited a statement released by the Commission for Protection of Indonesian

Children (KPAI) that some 70 percent of high school students in Jakarta and suburban areas had accessed pornographic sites. Parents also need to be educated about how to guard their children from pornographic contents, she also said.

“Public education must be car-ried out. By who? By every stake-holder, such as the government, and NGOs,” she said. She also reminded parents that in accordance with the Law on Child Protection, parents are responsible for the protection of their children.

Yuyun was gang raped until she died from the assault in her village in Kasiah Kasubun, Padang Ulak Tanding, Bengkulu, on April 2,

2016. The rapists were in an inebri-ated state when they assaulted the eighth grader.

Of the 14 rapists, two are still at large, while 12 have been detained, including seven under 18 years of age or considered juvenile accord-ing to the Indonesian law, so they cannot be jailed for life but can only be awarded a maximum prison sentence of 10 years. Those above 18 years of age could face a maxi-mum punishment of life sentence for a gang rape that claimed the victims life.

The seven juvenile suspects are identified by the initials D alias J (17), A (17), FS (17), and S (17), apart from DI (17), EG (16), and S (16).

The parents of such criminals could also be punished if it is proved that they were covering up their crimes of their children. The five other arrested suspects are TW (19), Sk (19), Bb (20), Fs (19), and Zl (23).(ant)

MAGELANG - At least 30 thousand tourists flocked to the Borobudur Temple in Magelang District of Central Java Province during the long weekend of Isra Miraj and the Ascension Day com-memorative holiday.

“There has been a significant increase in the number of visi-tors since Thursday,” Head of Administration and Finance of the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park Aryono Hendro Maliyanto stated here on Friday.

On a regular day, three to five thousand visitors throng the temple, while the number increases to 10 to 15 thousand on a regular weekend.

Maliyanto said his institution had forecast the tourist arrivals to possibly reach 40 thousand on Saturday.

“We predicted that the peak

arrival of visitors to Borobudur will occur on Saturday as people will return to their hometowns on Sunday,” Maliyanto noted.

Maliyanto affirmed that the in-stitution was optimizing its services in Borobudur Temple to welcome the visitors.

The management has created a shortcut for visitors, so they take lesser time to reach the Borobudur Temple from the parking lot.

Maliyanto remarked that the management had created a shortcut for visitors arriving at Borobudur, which had reduced the distance between the temple and parking lot from 1.3 thousand meters to 600 meters.

Some visitors can also park their vehicles in unofficial parking spac-es near the temple managed by the local people when the authorized parking area became full.(ant)

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked regional governments to follow up and implement various economic policy packages through regional govern-ment regulations.

“Regional governments should follow up these packages and implement them through regional government regulations and by-laws. It should not happen that regional government adversely produce regulations which hamper the implementation of the policy packages,” President Jokowi said when closing the Apkasi Invest-ment Trade International Summit (AITIS) 2016 here on Saturday.

The government has issued a series of economic policy packages from package 1 to package 12 since last September to boost investment in the country.

Jokowi appreciated the holding of the AITIS in an effort to increase synergy between Jakarta and the

regions in the current competition era.

“One of the key to winning com-petition is the synergy between the central government and regional administrations. It is useless for the government to conduct major reforms if there is no synergy between the central and regional governments,” he said.

He said that the government was now focusing on two prior-ity things, namely deregulation and acceleration of infrastructure development.

“We need deregulation because we are a big country but our devel-opment is being hampered by our own regulations. There are 42,000 regulations in the form of Govern-ment Regulations (PP), Presidential Regulations, Ministerial Regula-tions and bylaws. With numerous regulations, we could not act fast while global changes take place speedily,” he said.(ant)

The attack on the girl in western Indo-nesia on April 2 that went largely unnoticed at a national level until social media users began highlighting its brutality has reignited calls in Indonesia for a sexual violence law that is lan-guishing in Parliament to be enacted.

Minister urges parents to protect children from pornography

PEMALANG - Social Affairs Minister Khofifah Indar Parawansa has urged parents to guard children from pornog-raphy that could trigger sexual crimes such as what had hap-pened in Bengkulu last April. “Parents must be able to guard their children, at least educate them,” Minister Khofifah said here, Saturday.

Exports contracted by 1.8 percent from a year earlier to $172.7 billion, falling back into negative territory after March’s temporary burst of 11.5 percent growth, customs data showed Sunday. Imports plunged 10.9 percent to $127.2 billion after the previous month’s 13.8 percent contraction.

Weak demand from consum-ers in China and worldwide is hampering government efforts to reverse an economic slowdown that dragged growth to a seven-year low of 6.7 percent in the first quarter of the year.

Beijing has eased controls on credit growth and real estate pur-chases in hopes of stimulating ac-tivity but analysts said the impact was likely to be temporary. They said March’s unexpectedly strong trade growth also was a fluke due to comparison with weak numbers last year and the resumption of business after the Lunar New Year holiday in February.

Surveys of manufacturers showed factory activity weakened in April and the number of people employed declined.

The ruling Communist Party is

in the midst of a marathon effort to nurture more self-sustaining growth based on domestic con-sumption instead of trade and investment. But its plans call for trade to keep growing in order to avoid job losses in export-related industries that employ tens of mil-lions of workers.

Economic growth has declined steadily over the past five years. Much of that was intentional but the unexpectedly severe weak-ness over the past two years has forced Beijing to resort to multiple rounds of mini-stimulus through stepped up bank lending and spending on construction of public works, temporarily set-ting back its efforts to generate consumer-driven growth.

So far this year, exports have contracted by 7.6 percent com-pared with a year earlier and imports are down 12.8 percent, according to the General Admin-istration of Customs. That is down sharply from previous years when trade grew by double digits.

Weakness in Chinese imports has hurt its Asian neighbors, for nearly all of whom China is the biggest trading partner and

a major buyer of raw materials and industrial components. The impact has been felt around the globe in commodity exporters

such as Australia and Brazil. The country’s politically sensitive global trade surplus was $45.5 billion in April.

The surplus with the United States was $18.1 billion and that with the 27-nation European Union was $10.2 billion.(ap)

BEIJING — Mining giant Rio Tinto on Friday announced the launch of the next stage of a multibillion-dollar gold and copper mine in Mongolia following delays and political tension over revenue sharing and the foreign role in resource industries.

The underground portion of the Oyu Tol-goi mine will go ahead after Rio Tinto, the Mongolian government and another partner agreed on a $5.3 billion investment plan, the Anglo-Australian miner announced. It said production should begin in 2020.

Oyu Tolgoi became a symbol of tense relations between Mongolia and foreign investors. Expansion plans were delayed by disagreements over how to share revenue in the impoverished but resource-rich country between China and Russia.

Critics of government agreements with mining companies complain too little of Mongolia’s mineral wealth benefits the gen-

eral public. An open pit mine at Oyu Tolgoi opened in

2013 with an investment of $6.4 billion and employs some 3,000 people.

The latest agreement “is a clear demonstra-tion that the country is back to business,” said the Mongolian prime minister, Chimediin Saikhanbileg, in a statement issued by Rio Tinto. He said the project will be “a catalyst for further investments that will strengthen Mongolia’s economy.”

Minerals make up 94 percent of Mon-golia’s exports. With demand from China weakening as its economy cools, Mongolia’s own growth is forecast to fall below 1 percent this year.

In March, some 2,000 protesters who criti-cized foreign mining concessions gathered in the central square in the capital, UlaanBaatar, to demand parliament be dissolved and a new government formed.(ap)

The winning numbers selected just before 11 p.m. EDT were 25 66 44 5 26 with the Powerball 9. Lottery officials said one ticket, purchased in New Jersey, had the winning combination, according to media reports.

The winner was not identified. Winners of huge lottery payouts

sometimes do not come forward publicly for months.

It was the largest jackpot for any U.S. lottery since January, when three Powerball tickets split a record $1.6 billion.

The odds of winning at Powerball are one in 292 million. Statistics experts say that means an American

is roughly 25 times more likely to become the next president of the United States than to win the game.

Kelly Cripe, a Texas-based lot-tery spokeswoman, said Saturday’s Powerball followed 17 consecutive draws without a winner.

A spate of late ticket-buying on Saturday increased the jackpot by some $15 million, to an estimated $429.6 million. Powerball is played in 44 states, as well as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. (rtr)

FLORIDA - One winning ticket matched the numbers drawn on Saturday night for the multi-state Powerball jackpot for a payout estimated at $429.6 million, the ninth-highest U.S. lottery prize in history, officials said.

LONDON — London’s new-ly elected Muslim mayor, Sadiq Khan, has joined an annual me-morial to the millions of Jews slain in the Holocaust as his first official act in office.

Khan made Sunday’s ap-pearance at a north London ceremony following a racially charged election campaign dur-ing which Conservative Party opponents sought to portray him as an apologist for Islamic extremism and to highlight cases of alleged anti-Semitism

within the ranks of Khan’s La-bour Party.

The event inside a rugby stadium brought together thou-sands from London’s Jewish community, including more than 150 Holocaust survivors and a combined choir from five Jewish elementary schools.

MADRID — Three Spanish freelance journalists held captive in Syria for nearly 10 months returned home Sunday, tearfully hugging relatives as they got off a military jet sent to Turkey to bring them back.

Antonio Pampliega, Jose Manuel Lopez and Angel Sas-tre shook hands with Deputy Prime Minister Soraya Saenz de Santamaria on the tarmac of the Torrejon de Ardoz air force base on the outskirts of Madrid. They then smiled and cried as relatives ran to hug them.

Images on Spain’s state-owned TVE television channel showed their arrival but reporters were kept outside the base and away from the three journalists, only catching sight of a dark blue van carrying them from the base.

Prime Minister Mariano Ra-

joy posted a photograph of the journalists descending from the aircraft with a caption saying “Welcome!” on his official Twit-ter account.

“Allied and friendly” coun-tries had assisted in ensuring the journalists’ release, his office said in a statement late Saturday.

It highlighted Turkey and Qatar, saying they had helped out “especially in the final phase” of the journalists’ liberation.

It provided no information on the captors and how they were convinced to give up the journalists.

The three journalists went missing on July 12, near the city of Aleppo in northern Syria. At the time, the region was under the control of al-Qaida’s branch in Syria known as the Nusra Front. (ap)

ARIZONA - Michael Phelps is a first-time father. The 18-time Olym-pic gold medalist and fiance Nicole Johnson welcomed Boomer Robert Phelps late Thursday in Arizona, where Phelps has been training in preparation for the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

“Healthy and happy!!! Best feel-ing I have ever felt in my life!!!” Phelps posted on Instagram on Saturday in announcing his son’s name and arrival date and time.

A black-and-white photo showed a shirtless Phelps cradling his son and planting a kiss on his head while Johnson looked on from her hospital bed.

Phelps’ longtime coach, Bob Bowman, confirmed the baby’s middle name was in his honor, calling it “a big surprise” in a text to The Associated Press.

Phelps had been training at high altitude in Colorado, and left the Olympic Training Center in Colo-

rado Springs to return to Johnson’s side.

Last month at a meet in Mesa, Arizona, Phelps said the couple had already selected the baby’s name, although he didn’t reveal it then.

“It’s something we both agreed on, thought it was different,” he said.

Asked what type of parent he would be, Phelps said, “I’ll prob-ably be very protective. That’s how I am.”

Phelps credited Johnson for being “nothing but one of the best supporters I could ask for.”

At the Mesa meet, Phelps talked with Dana Vollmer, who is attempt-ing to make another Olympic team after giving birth to her son 13 months ago.

“It will be good for him, like it is for me,” she said. “Michael and Nicole will be good parents.” (ap)

After even opening rounds, Mexican Alvarez closed it at 2:37 in the sixth when he feigned a left jab before delivering a rattling hook to knock his British opponent cold.

Khan, 29, came to his senses well after the bout had been decided and was taken to the hospital. He later tweeted out a photo assuring he was fine.

“Im okay everyone, that’s box-ing for you, congrats to @Canelo monster punch, much love to all the fans!” tweeted Khan, who moved up two weight divisions to take on Alvarez.

Alvarez said he proved he was much more than just raw power.

“Like I said from the beginning, I knew he was very fast and knew it would be competitive in the be-ginning,” he told reporters. “But I knew time would come to my favor, and you saw that.

“Many people focus on my pow-er and talk to my power but I have many more qualities in the ring. I like to surprise everyone.”

The former WBA and WBC super welterweight champion, who lost both world titles on a major-ity decision to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2013, entered the night as

a heavy favorite but Khan (31-4, 19 knockouts) seemed to control the first couple of rounds with his hand speed.

The Mexican power-puncher caught up with Khan in the third round and began to cut off the ring and push his opponent against the ropes.

In the fifth, Khan absorbed a left hook and sustained a cut over his right eye.

It all led to the crushing closer where 25-year-old Alvarez again showed the brute strength that has now carried him to a record of 47-1-1 with 33 knockouts.

Following the fight, Alvarez invited WBA-IBF champion Gen-nady “Triple G” Golovkin into the ring, fuelling the growing clamour for a clash between the two.

“I’ll fight him right now. Let’s put the gloves on and get in there with him,” Alvarez said. “I fear no one in this sport.” (rtr)

“It’s the best time of my life,” Morgan, who joined Leicester as a second-tier club four years ago, said on the field. “You just want to enjoy every minute.”

After the preseason 5,000-1 title longshots got their hands on the biggest prize in English football, fireworks erupted on the King Power Stadium pitch before yellow and blue streamers cascaded from the roof. Ticker-tape emblazoned with the lyric to fans’ song “Jamie Vardy’s having a party” also cov-ered the seats.

The top-scoring striker has pow-ered the 132-year-old Foxes to their first top flight title by contributing 24 goals, with two of them com-ing in a swaggering 3-1 victory over Everton before the trophy presentation.

The striker, who signed from non-league Fleetwood Town four years ago, only missed out on a hat trick on his return from a two-game suspension when he missed a second penalty.

It was apt that midfielder Andy King was also on the score sheet. The lifelong Leicester player has been on the journey as the club climbed back from the third tier in 2009 to the top flight only two years ago.

Just a year ago, King and his teammates feared they were going to make an instant return to the sec-ond tier, and were relegation candi-dates at the start of this season.

But powered by Vardy’s goals, Riyad Mahrez’s trickery, and Kasper Schmeichel’s saves, Leic-ester confounded the odds to surge to the summit. Leicester has embar-rassed big-spending clubs from Manchester rivals United and City to Chelsea by winning the world’s richest soccer league without lavish spending.

Although Leicester has been owned for six years by Thai duty free group King Power, the squad is largely a collection of bargain buys and players cast off by big-ger clubs.

At times, club chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha seemed to hold onto the trophy longer than his play-ers on the field as he was followed by a picture of the Thai king.

“I always believed in the power

of our spirit,” he wrote in Satur-day’s matchday magazine. “It is a spirit that has spread beyond Leic-ester, taking our story to the hearts of the world.”

Thousands of fans gathered outside the stadium more than four hours before kickoff, before a del-uge washed out the sunshine.

Hundreds of Italians also trav-eled by bus and plane to Leicester without tickets just to be part of a story that has enthralled the world beyond football fans. They have been captivated by how compatriot Claudio Ranieri turned the team into England’s first first-time cham-pions since promoted Nottingham Forest’s 1978 success — an era before the financial disparities were so vast.

The most famous Italian at the celebrations was tenor Andrea Bocelli, who serenaded Ranieri on the field before the game to sing “Nessun Dorma,” the aria popular-ized in England during the 1990 World Cup.

“The cameras want to see if

you cry,” Ranieri later recalled thinking. “Today I said, ‘No.’ But emotions inside me were at the top ... I tried to stay calm without the emotion.”

Ranieri’s managerial career has taken in some of Europe’s biggest clubs — from Juventus to Chelsea — but only at Leicester with its modest budget has he become a title winner.

For the crowning moment of his career, Ranieri was joined by fam-ily, friends, and former players.

“He’s always been a calm man-ager in all circumstances, both when the team is doing well and when they’re not,” Vittorio Pusced-du, who played for Ranieri at Na-poli and Fiorentina in the 1990s, said as he walked through Leicester to the stadium in the afternoon sun. “A manager has to do that, he has to instill calm in the environment. He’s very good at that and that’s what happened (at Leicester).”

Leicester’s ownership was ridi-culed for hiring the 64-year-old Ranieri last July. He’d been out of work since the previous year after being fired by Greece. And his only job in the Premier League at Chel-sea ended 11 years earlier.

Ranieri’s prospects of avoiding

relegation were written off. How he has proved his critics wrong and beguiled even non-Leicester fans with his command of the team and entertaining asides that shifted the focus away from players chasing history.

Above the Cank Street Gallery in central Leicester was written one such sound-bite. “Dilly ding, dilly dong” was uttered by a giddy Ra-nieri last month as he conveyed his excitement that a first career title was looming. The nonsensical but endearing one-liner has been turned into a fans’ song and also featured on ticker-tape that covered fans in the stadium.

“I want to say to you we are champions because you pushed us,” Ranieri told 32,000 fans in the stadium. Leicester has lost only three times in 37 games in the title bid. Not bad for a season when survival was the objective.

“We are staying up,” Leicester fans sang before bellowing out the words they will never tire of chanting: “Champions of England we know what we are.”

Ranieri is already thinking about next season and the team’s first foray into the Champions League, where Leicester will be top seed

in the group stage as a domestic title winner. Leicester’s previous highpoints have come by winning the second-tier League Cup three times.

“This is a magical season,” Ranieri said. “Let me go to the sea and recharge my batteries. Let’s start next season with the same ambition, same humility.” Domes-tically, it’s anticipated the faded Premier League powers from de-posed champion Chelsea to record 20-time Premier League winner Manchester United will be far stronger. “We’ll show this wasn’t a fluke,” fan Alan Sewell said. “I don’t think it was a fluke but the rest of the world does.” (ap)

MILAN — Inter Milan beat Empoli 2-1 in the penultimate round to mathematically secure fourth spot in Serie A on Saturday and a berth in the Europa League. AC Milan’s chances of also playing in Europe next season improved after it won at 10-man Bologna 1-0.

Inter, which led Serie A for most of the first half of the season, knew it could not finish higher than fourth but ensured it moved seven points clear of fifth-place Fiorentina, which has two games left.

“If we had done everything well and we were perfect we would not have finished fourth,” Inter coach Roberto Mancini said. “At the end, however, this is the position we deserve for having thrown away a bit after we did well in the first six months. “It remains the best season of the last five years, that is also a positive thing.”

Mauro Icardi fired Inter into an early lead after Ivan Perisic squared the ball to him. Manuel Pucciarelli leveled in the 37th but Perisic restored Inter’s lead just three minutes later after Stevan Jovetic’s effort was spilled by Alberto Pelagotti.

Icardi will likely play no part in the final round after the Inter captain limped off in the second half with a thigh strain. Bologna had to play 78 minutes with 10

men after Amadou Diawara was sent off for two yellow cards.

Milan broke the deadlock five minutes from halftime when it was awarded a penalty after Luiz Adriano was brought down by Bologna goalkeeper Junior Da Costa as he was running onto a long ball from Luiz Adriano.

Da Costa almost redeemed himself by guessing the right way for Carlos Bacca’s spot kick but could not prevent it from going in. Adam Masina thought he leveled in the final minute but his goal was ruled out for a tight offside decision.

Milan moved to provisional sixth, two points ahead of Sas-suolo, which visits relegation-threatened Frosinone on Sun-day.

“It’s normal that people want a Milan which plays better, but today our main aim was the victory,” Milan coach Cristian Brocchi said.

“We have to take it game by game to get to the (Italian Cup) final against Juventus in the best way possible. (Sixth spot) unfor-tunately does not just depend on us. Tonight we had to win and we did that. Now, we’ll see what will happen.”

Cagliari will join both Milan teams in Serie A next season after winning promotion straight back to the top flight following one season in Serie B. (ap)

MADRID - The shadow of their disappointing 2014 World Cup cam-paign still hangs over Spain as they prepare to defend their European Championship crown in France next month, according to coach Vicente del Bosque.

Although they finished top of their qualifying group for Euro 2016, Spain failed to sparkle against relatively weak opposition and have won just two out of seven friendlies since the World Cup.

“The origin of everything is Bra-zil and that disappointment,” Del Bosque said in an interview with international news agencies.

“But if you isolate that and look at our qualifying campaign, we lost one game and won nine. Then we had games with tough sides and al-though we lost to Holland, we beat England, and when we’ve lost it’s been by the minimum, we’ve been very close.”

Despite the failings in Brazil, where Spain’s record run of three successive tournament wins came to an abrupt halt as a 5-1 thrashing by the Netherlands and a 2-0 defeat to Chile sent them packing at the group stage, Del Bosque has overseen only a partial process of renewal.

While Xabi Alonso, Xavi Hernan-dez and David Villa have retired from international football and Fernando Torres has been phased out, the core of the squad remains, including Ser-gio Ramos, Iker Casillas and Andres Iniesta, ever present figures from the Euro 2008 triumph.

The starting 11 Del Bosque will pick for Spain’s first game in France against the Czech Republic on June 13 is by no means certain, especially when it comes to choosing a centre forward.

Del Bosque has a wealth of options in Paco Alcacer, Alvaro Morata, Aritz Aduriz and Diego Costa, although the Chelsea striker’s

continued presence in the squad has attracted criticism, not just for his disappointing displays which have yielded only one goal in 10 appear-ances.

Costa was charged with miscon-duct by the FA after being sent off in March for clashing with Everton’s Gareth Barry but Del Bosque said he had never had any doubts about the striker.

“Diego can be judged on whether he plays well or not but he hasn’t committed any crime, his conduct with us has always been correct,” he said.

“There have been some episodes which haven’t been edifying but he has always shown a great attitude with us and we appreciate that.” Spain also face Turkey and Croatia in Group D of the tournament.

Del Bosque must also confront the question of his goalkeeper and whether he starts captain Iker Casil-las, who has endured an error-ridden campaign with FC Porto, or David de Gea, recently named Manchester

United’s player of the season for the third successive year.

“There are questions to answer in every position and we have firm criteria but we also need to be a bit flexible,” he said. “Seasons often end up putting things in their place and there’s still time left. We’re in a permanent debate.”

Del Bosque justified his faith in Casillas and Ramos by emphasising the importance of having a balanced squad of experienced hands and hungry youngsters.

“I really believe in the veterans who have spent a long time with us and we trust the newcomers who give the squad an impulse and fresh blood,” he said. “Our objective is to think further than the two European Championships we’ve won because people are only going to value what we do in the next one.

“For some it will be their last big tournament and for others the first and to get that mix you can’t look back nor forward. We have to live in the immediate present.” (rtr)

Leicester’s team manager Claudio Ranieri and Leicester’s Wes Morgan lift the trophy as Leic-ester City celebrate becoming the English Premier League soccer champions at King Power stadium in Leicester, England, Saturday, May 7, 2016.

MANCHESTER — Bel-gium captain Vincent Kom-pany says he has been ruled out of the European Cham-pionship. The 30-year-old defender was forced off with a thigh injury in Manchester City’s loss at Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday.

It was the latest frustrating muscle injury for Kompany, who missed large parts of City’s stuttering season with calf problems.

In a Facebook post from his hospital bed, Kompany wrote Saturday: “I’ll miss the Euros. To me that’s very sad news.”

Kompany added: “I could be standing here, feeling sor-ry for myself. I could fear for my career, as others may do. I could give up. That is not me. I decide on my future.

In the next Euros, which start next month, Belgium faces Italy, Ireland and Swe-den in Group E. (ap)

(rtr)

(ap)

(kmb34)

(kmb40)

It is now threatening neighbour-ing the province of Saskatchewan.

Safety Minister Ralph Goodale warned that the situation in the parched Alberta oil sands region was “unpredictable and dangerous”. “This remains a big, out of control, dangerous fire,” he added.

Officials said the inferno is being propelled by high winds northeast,

pushing towards Saskatchewan. The tinder-dry forests that are fu-elling the fire also surround an oil sands facility, which some officials fear could be under threat.

About half the country’s oil output - half a million barrels-a-day - have been taken offline as a result.

But some experts said they

were confident the Suncor Energy facility would not be at risk as it was designed to cope with forest fires.

Chad Morrison, the province’s manager of wildfire prevention, said: “They are clear of vegetation and trees... they also have highly trained industrial fire departments that know how to respond to these incidents.”

But he added that unless there is substantial rainfall, the fire might easily last for months.

More than 500 firefighters are battling the blaze in and around Fort McMurray, along with 15

helicopters and 14 air tankers, the Alberta government said. Entire neighbourhoods have been reduced to ash and many of the families living in the city are understood to have lost everything other than the few items they were able to take with them.

Many were forced to leave pets behind. Thousands have been seek-ing shelter at receptions centres in Lac La Biche and other towns south of Fort McMurray.

One analyst has estimated in-surance losses could exceed $9bn (£4.8bn).

In comparison, the 2013 floods

that devastated southern Alberta caused $5bn of damage, according to Alberta Construction Magazine. Elsewhere in Alberta, more than 1,400 firefighters, about 133 heli-copters and more than 27 air tankers have been fighting other fires across the province.(rtr)

(rtr)

DENPASAR-The multitude of potential work related ac-cidents, injuries and illnesses that can occur in the work place, such as electrical ac-

cidents, falling construction materials, emery wheel acci-

dents, garment industry allergies and other such perils require specialized at-tention. Every company is supposed to have a Health and Safety Unit (K3) onsite in order to prevent work related accidents from occurring -whether those caused by negligence work-ers or problematic work environments. Their function is to identify potential dangers in the workplace especial for those doing shift work. “It is especially important for those who work at night or who are doing overtime”, said Head of the Education Studies Program at Udayana University, Dr.dr. Dewa Gede Purwa Samatra, Sp.S (K).

A wildfire burns south of Fort McMurray, Alberta, near Highway 63 on Saturday, May 7, 2016. Canadian of-ficials hoped to complete the mass evacuation of work camps north of Alberta’s main oil sands city of Fort McMurray on Saturday, fearing the growing wildfire could double in size and reach a major oil sands mine and even the neighboring province of Saskatchewan.

Canada’s ‘Out Of Control’ Fire Doubles In Size

ALBERTA - A wildfire that is raging across the province of Alberta is due to become Canada’s costliest natural disaster later today, after becoming bigger than Greater London. The blaze, which has forced the evacuation of 88,000 people from the city of Fort McMurray, doubled in size on Saturday to around 494,000 acres, according to firefighters.
