The television show, which introduced characters like Captain James T. Kirk and Mr. Spock, the half-human, half-Vulcan first officer, followed the crew’s missions and has spawned movies and other se-ries since debuting in 1966.

In “Star Trek Beyond”, Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto return as the younger Kirk and Spock alongside Simon Pegg as Scotty and John Cho as Hikaru Sulu and this time, they face a new enemy when they are shipwrecked on an unfriendly planet.

“This movie has definitely a retro vibe to it,” Quinto said at the film’s London premiere on Tuesday. “It’s pretty remark-able for something like this to last for half a century and we’re all really proud to be a part of it at this significant, celebratory milestone.”

Quinto was joined by his co-stars, including Pegg who had the additional role of co-writer.

“It was a big responsibility, ‘Star Trek’ is precious,” Pegg said. “We wanted to do it jus-tice in the most faithful way but we approached it like you would any writing job ... studi-

ously and carefully and never taking it for granted.”

The movie has made head-lines ahead of its release after Cho said Sulu is openly gay and married in the new film. Actor George Takei, who por-trayed the character in the original show and is gay in real life, has said he was “de-lighted” the movie included a gay character, but the new version of Sulu does not reflect the original vision of late series creator Gene Roddenberry.

“I had spoken to (Takei) and I knew that was coming ... I hope that if he sees the film and sees the way it’s treated ... that maybe he’ll see some of the positives in time,” Cho said.

“Maybe he’ll warm to it and realise that maybe young people are going to see this, young gay people, LGBT people in the closet perhaps and be encouraged by it.”

Last month, “Star Trek Be-yond” actor Anton Yelchin was killed after he was crushed by his car and cast and crew have been paying tribute to him. The movie is the third film in a re-cent relaunch following 2009’s “Star Trek” and “Star Trek Into Darkness” in 2013. (rtr)

LONDON - The crew of the USS Enterprise are back for more space adventures in “Star Trek Beyond”, the latest episode in the film reboot of the popular science fiction series that marks its 50th birthday this year.

COVER STORYIn the draft, continued Lihad-

nyana, a solar cell will be installed at villages to convert sunlight into electricity. This solar cell will be

managed by the BUMDes that is now mandatory at villages especially those belonging to the movement of integrated rural development (Gerbangsadu). Further-more, the BUMDes sells the electric energy generated from the solar panel to PLN. After that, the PLN sells it to the public.

“This BUMDes is the property of village so that it is actually nice. We are still designing the feasible per KwH tariff and how much should be sold to the PLN. This should be equipped with an agreement. In advance, we also have to build a system,” he added.

According to Lihadnyana, if the village is required to invest, this can certainly emerge a question where the source of fund comes from. Therefore, it is necessary to build a system related to the involvement of a third party. If there is a third party willing to jointly build Bali through the village, according to him, it’s a good idea! Along the village will get the benefit. Besides, it is also one of the manifestations of the social economy.

“It has been communicated to villages, but it must be ascertained who the investor is, how the pattern looks like, what benefit can the village get, how the system works with the PLN and others,” he said.

Chairman of the Indonesia Electrical and Mechani-cal Contractors Association (AKLI) of Bali, Putu Geria Astawa, considered the draft to utilize sunlight into elec-trical energy positive. Moreover, then the free source of energy obtained from nature is managed by the BUMDes. At the very least, it can grow the rural economy.

“Now, the human resources of the BUMDes should have an expertise and competence so that they are able to maintain the plant. Moreover, it will be sold to PLN,” he said. (kmb32)

“Hopefully, the target can be reached because the target is to get the money back. Then, it circulates

in the community so that it results in a growth, tax increase and the state budget can be met,” said the

member of the House of Represen-tatives of Bali constituency, Gde Sumarjaya Linggih, in Denpasar,

recently.Sumarjaya Linggih added that

the state budget or government spending is the only hope amid the current economic condition. In the economy, the commonly calculated aspect is consumption plus investment plus government spending plus export minus im-port. However, the current world consumption is falling. Likewise, it also happens to domestic consump-tion and investment.

“Consumption is down and automatically the investment also slumps because maintaining the manufacture is very difficult, let alone be expanding,” added the man familiarly called Demer. The export, continued Sumarjaya Ling-gih, also shows a decline because there are also rules contributing to such decline. Related to mine sec-tor, for instance, there is a rule that does not allow the export of raw materials.

“So, the only thing we expect is the government spending and it is the state budget. The current condi-tion of state budget happens due to

difficult achievement from taxes. Automatically the state budget will also diminish so that the money circulating in the community is small as well,” he said.

That is why, said Sumarjaya Linggih, the tax amnesty is ex-pected to be successful. It will recover the current economic con-dition because there will be money in circulation. Conversely, when it fails, it will make the condition remain severe.

“On that account, public busi-ness credit (KUR) and the revolv-ing fund management agency (LPDB) are intensified, what are the purposes? When money is circulating in the community, the economic growth will rise. When the economic growth rises, the tax will also go up. When taxes rise, the state budget is filled. As the impact on Bali, if there is money Bali will be certainly benefited because as soon as the money circulates, the growth certainly rises and tourism finally goes up. If there is no money in circulation, it’s quite hard,” he said. (kmb32)

DENPASAR - Tax amnesty is not necessarily meant to protect the tax fraudulence perpetra-tors. however, the far more important is to get back the ‘lost’ money in order to circulate back in the country. On that account, the economic growth will increase.

ROME - Fendi had a lot to cel-ebrate on Thursday: Not only has it reached the milestone of its 90th (!) year in business, it was also able to utilize the newly restored Trevi Fountain — a construction project financially supported by the Roman fashion house — in a first-of-its-kind runway production for the anniversary show.

The collection, entitled “Leg-ends and Fairy Tales,” was pre-sented overtop of the fountain, with models walking on a clear platform that gave the illusion that they were walking on water. As the label’s second-ever “Haute Fourrure” show, each look was accented with fur — from appliqués and subtle trims to full-on shawls, dresses and intarsia coats. With motifs that included florals and fairy tale-like art scenes, the pieces were only made more magical thanks to the models’ doll-like curly hair — some tied with fur ribbons — and dewy skin. Former Fendi face Kendall Jenner opened the show, while Paris Couture Week’s breakout star (and Fendi first-timer) Bella Hadid closed in a majestic fur cape. (IBP/net)

In addition to legal consideration as stated in decision of the Den-pasar District Court, the extradition was also carried out on the request of the Australian government to the Indonesian government received through diplomatic channel based on the letter of the Australian Em-bassy in Jakarta.

Chief of the Bali Prosecutor’s Office, H. Abdul Muni, leading the extradition last Wednesday said that the extradition against Samuel Pekka Juhani Kuuppo has gained approval from the judges of the Denpasar District Court No. 01/Pid.Ex/2015/PN.DPS dated August 27, 2015. Essentially, the stipulation certifies to approve the extradition request and asks the prosecutor as executor to arrest the requested extradition until the implementation of the extradition.

“As a follow up of the extra-dition request, President of the RI issued a Presidential Decree No.19/2016 dated May 16, 2016,” said Abdul Muni accompanied by the authority of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights shortly after the extradition last Wednesday.

Further, he said, the extradition request was based on the case that Samuel Pekka Juhani Kuuppo is alleged to have committed a crime in Australia, namely the trial of sexual penetration with-out the victim’s consent and an attack that harmed the victim’s body. “The victim herself is from Australia, not in Indonesia,” said Abdul Muni.

In addition, since it is a sexual crime, the Attorney General con-siders that the action of Samuel Pekka Juhani Kuuppo has violated the provisions namely committing

sexual criminal acts, so that the extradition request is eligible.

Prior to be departed to Ngurah Rai Airport on Wednesday, han-dover of the extradition was carried out at the Bali Prosecutor’s Office to Australian Police assigned to pick up Samuel Pekka. On that basis, Indonesia is committed to working together with the Austra-lian government and the Interpol to arrest those getting involved in crime, especially sexual crimes.

Thus, the suspects or defendants must be accountable for their legal actions before the court.

“Indonesia is not a paradise island to hide for culprits of sexual crimes,” said Abdul Muni, accom-panied by Deputy Chief of the Bali Prosecutor’s Office, representative of the Ministry of Law and Hu-man Rights, Interpol, and relevant institutions to the implementation of the extradition against a Finnish nationality.

To be noted, in the trial of the Denpasar District Court, prosecu-tor Suparta Jaya and Gede Raka Arimbawa from the Bali Prosecu-tor’s Office through the request letter of the extradition read out at the trial explained that the request

was based on the letter of extradi-tion request from the Australian Embassy in Jakarta No. P060/ 015 dated March 23, 2015. It carries the search and arrest of Samuel Pekka Juhani Kuuppo and a letter of the Australian Embassy in Jakarta No. P100/2015 dated June 15, 2015 on the submission of the original document of the extradition request on behalf of Samuel Pekka Juhani Kuuppo to undergo the legal pro-cess for criminal acts committed in Australia.

Based on an international arrest warrant, Samuel Pekka was ar-rested at Ngurah Rai Airport when he was about to go to Singapore. He has been detained since May 7, 2015. Other information received

by Bali Post at the Denpasar Dis-trict Court mentioned that Samuel was reported to Western Australia Police by Kirsti Maria Tiinanen on Monday (Feb. 16, 2015) due to committing a number of sexual assaults on her.

Western Australia Police en-snared Samuel with Article 326 and 552 of Law Criminal Act 1913 (WA) where he attempted to com-mit a criminal offense of sexual penetration without victim’s con-sent so that he can face 20 years in prison, and Article 317 paragraph 1 of the same law containing the criminal offense of attacks that can harm the body so that he is threat-ened to be sentenced to five years in prison. SINGARAJA - In fact the migrants to Bali do not only come in through crossing harbor of Gili-manuk or Padangbai. After the end of the Eid holiday, the migrants thronged to come in through Celu-kan Bawang harbor. The local har-bor police made a raid of identity and sharp weapon.

Chief of Celukan Bawang Har-

bor Police, Ketut Adnyana TJ, said that his ranks strictly examined the passengers of one of the Maumere I vessels. Such pioneering vessel dropped off hundreds of passen-gers at the pier III of the Celukan Bawang Harbor.

“The vessel is carrying 113 pas-sengers. A total of 121 passengers dropped off at Celukan Bawang

while 12 others resumed their voy-age. There are 16 motorcycles owned by the passengers on board. This pioneer vessel is privately owned and managed by the company according to its mission and functioned to serve inter-regional passengers,” he said, Wednesday (Jul. 13).

He added that the pioneer ves-sel serves the crossing to a number

of destinations such as Bima-Carik (North Lombok), Celukan Bawang-Kalianget Madura, Se-peken Madura, Kangiang Madura and Surabaya. “This pioneering vessel has been in operation since 2014. This vessel regularly moors at Celukan Bawang every two weeks. Now, the passengers are quite a lot considering it is the

situation after the peak of the Eid,” he added.

During the inspection of the mi-grants, the officers did not find any sharp weapons, explosives or false identity cards. Nevertheless, the officers will continue to do regular raid and strict supervision to antici-pate the entrance of the sea-lanes and illegal lanes. (kmb34)

PAJU - The 15 male ballet stu-dents groaned as they strained to do the splits and laughed with relief after their teacher counted to five and let them relax.

Once a week, a group of South Korean soldiers near the Demilita-rised Zone (DMZ) that divides the Korean peninsula trade army boots for ballet shoes in a class intended to ease the stress of guarding the world’s most heavily fortified border.

“There’s a lot of tension here since we live in the unit on the front line, which makes me feel insecure at times,” said Kim Joo-hyeok, a 23-year-old sergeant doing his nearly two years of military service that is mandatory for South Korean men.

“But through ballet, I am able to stay calm and find balance as well as build friendships with my fellow soldiers,” said Kim, who is learning ballet for a second year and plans to continue when he is discharged from the army.

Wearing shorts and T-shirts along with their dancing slippers, members of the army’s 25th Divi-sion are taught each week by a ballerina from the Korean National Ballet under a programme that began last year and has already included a performance of Tchaik-ovsky’s Swan Lake.

Most of the students at a recent session were first-timers.

“Being in the army itself can be difficult, so I wasn’t sure what kind of help I can be here,” said Lee

Hyang-jo, a ballerina at the Korean National Ballet who visits the base once a week to train the soldiers.

“But as the soldiers learn ballet little by little, they laugh more and have a great time and seeing that makes me think that coming here is worthwhile,” she said.

As the suntanned, crew-cut danc-ers practiced movements including the splay-kneed plie to classical music, outside the studio, another group of soldiers played soccer.

But ballet toughens you up too, said Lieutenant Colonel Heo Tae-sun.

“Ballet requires a great amount of physical strength and is very good for strengthening muscle, increasing flexibility, and correcting posture,” Heo said. (rtr)

AMSTERDAM - China’s resounding defeat in a legal battle with the Philippines over territorial claims in the South China Sea could embolden other states to file lawsuits if Beijing refuses to com-promise on access to the resource-rich region.

There are several avenues for litigation that countries could pursue rather than risk any action at sea that would worsen military tensions, legal and security experts said.

The Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) in The Hague concluded that China had violated the Philippines’ economic and sovereign rights. Brunei, Indonesia, Malay-sia, Taiwan and Vietnam also have unresolved, overlap-ping claims on parts of the South China Sea.

A five-judge tribunal dismissed China’s “Nine-dash line” - a 69-year-old claim to roughly 85 percent of the South China Sea - saying it was unlawful under the 1982 U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNLCLOS).

The ruling is binding for Beijing and Manila, but it also set a legal precedent by determining that UNCLOS rules take precedence over China’s historic claims. That bolsters the treaty’s standing in international law, experts said.

“It will have enormous impact on future jurisprudence and on the perceived legitimacy of other claims in the South China Sea and around the world,” said Gregory Pol-ing, head of the Asia Maritime Transparency Initiative.

Although China rejected the Hague court, which has no enforcement powers, Poling said that the vast majority of international arbitration awards over the last century have eventually been respected. “Reputational damage matters to modern states,” he said.

Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Lu Kang said the ASEAN grouping of Southeast Asian countries had put forward a dual track proposal.

“This is that relevant disputes in the South China Sea should be resolved by parties directly involved via direct talks and consultations,” Lu told reporters.

“The peace and stability of the South China Sea is for China and the 10 members of ASEAN to dedicate themselves to maintaining. I believe this thinking, this basic spirit, is still the common wish of China and most countries in the region.” (rtr)

NEGARA - Up to day six after the Eid holiday or Wednesday (Jul. 13), the number of home-comers coming back to Bali is not equivalent to those having exited Bali. In the meantime, from the examination of identity card since last weekend, dozens of migrants have been repatriated because of without identity card.

As the observation at the identity card checkpoint last Wednesday, the atmosphere seemed more tran-quil than last weekend.

Motorized homecomers domi-nated when the vessel moored and unloaded. In addition, there were pedestrian passengers and bus passengers. “Now, it is slightly more tranquil. Perhaps they are still celebrating the ketupat Eid. Usually they will be back a week after the Eid,” said an officer.

From the information at identity card checkpoint, after the Eid or the backflow up to Wednesday there

were dozens of violators and they have been repatriated. Precisely they were 22 people with more than 40 violations. The repatriation mostly occurred on Monday (Jul. 11) where there were 30 violations related to expired identity cards and the absence of identity cards, and repatriation was imposed to 15 people. The remaining approxi-mately 15 people were then allowed to continue their journey.

In the meantime, previously the Head of the Jembrana Population and Civil Registry Office, I Ketut Wiaspada, said that to anticipate the backflow, the agency has increased the number of personnel at the iden-tity card checkpoint from 17 (cross-agency) personnel to 25 personnel. The eight additional personnel are from the agency and municipal police. According to him, the ad-ditional personnel will last until unspecified time or the condition is back to normal. (kmb26)

Chief of the Denpasar Police Narcotic Investigation, Gede Ganefo, as confirmed on Wednes-day (Jul. 13) justified the case disclosure. “This is a new type of ecstasy in Bali. Tomorrow (Thurs-day—Ed) I will release this case,” he said briefly.

According to a resource person, EJ living in the area Blahbatuh, Gi-anyar, was about to have clubbing. Such information was received by the officers and they told if she is a drug user. At 02:00, the suspect was passing through the scene precisely in front of a motorcycle dealer on Jalan Teuku Umar, Denpasar. Po-lice immediately arrested and from the search against the suspect’s bag was found three ecstasy pills hidden

in a cigarette pack.At different place, the officers

arrested the suspect EN, 41, living on Jalan Griya Anyar Gang Delima Putih, South Denpasar. The suspect was arrested at 00:30 on Jalan Sun-set Road, next to Circle-K, Kuta. Police seized crystal meth weighing 1.38 grams. A driver DS, 38, was also arrested in a pipe warehouse on Jalan Griya Anyar, South Denpasar. The suspect from Mendoyo, Jem-brana, was arrested at 1:30 for the possession of crystal meth package weighing 0.18 gram.

“We have processed this case and it is now under development. We are still committed to fight-ing against drugs,” said Ganefo. (kmb36)

BUSINESS

In his first public comments since succeeding George Osborne as chancellor of the exchequer, Hammond praised Bank of England Gov-ernor Mark Carney and said he would take decisions over the summer before outlining his tax and spending plans.

“Markets do need signals of reassurance, they need to know that we will do whatever is necessary to keep the economy on track,” Hammond said on ITV television.

“We’re working together across that referendum divide in the party to deliver the best possible deal for Britain. I think confidence will gradu-ally begin to return and people will start to see the shape of the future that we’re mapping out,” he said.

The Brexit vote thrust Britain into its worst political crisis in modern times, with both major parties in turmoil and investors left guessing about how the future relationship with the EU will look.

Hammond, who has previously served as foreign, defence and trans-port minister, has a reputation in Westminster as a safe pair of hands who rarely hits the domestic headlines.

By contrast Osborne was former prime minister David Cameron’s closest ally and chief strategist, making him one of the most visible political figures in Britain over the last six years and the architect of the drive to cut the deficit.

Jonathan Loynes, chief European economist at Capital Economics, said he detected a change of approach from Hammond.

“He has made some comments this morning about the importance of infrastructure spending etc, so I think there are some encouraging signs there that he wants to improve the supply side of the economy, improve its productivity performance.

“There is now a very strong consensus, which as far as I can see is shared by Mr. Hammond, that fiscal policy should be used to cushion the impact (of a Leave vote).”

NEW CIRCUMSTANCES, NEW APPROACHThe BoE is set on Thursday to cut interest rates for the first time in

more than seven years as it seeks to cushion the world’s fifth-biggest economy from the shock of the June 23 referendum decision to take Britain out of the EU.

In a series of media interviews on Thursday, Hammond declined to commit himself to plans made by Osborne in the wake of the referendum, including proposals to make further cuts to corporation tax.

But he suggested he would take a less aggressive approach to fixing the public finances, echoing comments by Britain’s new prime minister Theresa May.

“Of course we’ve got to reduce the deficit further but looking at how and when and at what pace we do that, and how we measure our progress in doing that is something that we now need to consider in the light of the new circumstances that the economy is facing,” he told BBC radio.

“Borrowing, when the cost of money is cheap, has some great at-tractions, but this country is already highly indebted,” Hammond later told ITN, adding that the government needed to be careful about what signals it sends to the markets.

Osborne had aimed to turn Britain’s budget deficit - which stands at about 4 percent of gross domestic product - into a surplus by 2020 although he said recently that he would no longer pursue that target given the expected hit to the economy from the country’s decision to leave the EU.

Hammond also told the BBC that the City of London financial ser-vices industry was resilient in the short term but Britain could not be complacent about its future and he would try to ensure its access to the EU’s single market.

Asked about big infrastructure projects, he said he expected the plan to build a major new power generation plant at Hinkley Point in south-west England, led by French power utility EDF, would be finalised soon and the new government would take a collective decision on expanding London’s airport capacity.(rtr)

“Crimes such as terrorism, intolerance-triggered conflicts, and mass conflicts with implications of contingencies will be my main focus,” Tito Karnavian said at the State Palace, here Wednesday.

The police would be proactive, step up intelligence functions, and commu-nity development, he said. The new gen-eral also promised to intensify preventive measures and promote professional law enforcement.

He also reiterated his commitment to arrest Santoso, the alleged terrorist, hid-ing in Central Sulawesi. “Clearly, it still

remains our main target,” he added. The Santoso group has been under

pressure and can no longer launch at-tacks thanks to military operations such as “Camar”, and “Tinombala” conducted by the government, he noted. The group initially had 47 members, and now only 21 remained, he remarked.

The fact shows that military operations have been successful, he said, and added that arresting Santoso, dead or alive, was just a matter of time.

He would, however, use a soft approach for the sake of the community, and force terrorists to face the legal process in line with the existing laws, the former chief of the counter-terrorism agency said.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) ap-pointed Tito Karnavian as the new police chief to succeed General Badrodin Haiti

at the State Palace here Wednesday af-ternoon.

Karnavian, previously chief of the Na-tional Counter-Terrorism Agency, joined the police academy in 1987 and had earlier held posts, including that of the Jakarta Police chief and head of the Special De-tachment 88 counter-terrorism squad.

Born in Palembang, South Sumatra Province, on October 26, 1964, Karnavian graduated from the Exeter University in Great Britain and earned his masters degree in Police Studies in 1993, among others.

In 1998, Karnavian graduated from the Massey University in Auckland, New Zealand, with Strategic Studies as a major subject. Later, Karnavian got his PhD from the Rajaratnam School of Interna-tional Studies, Nanyang Technological University, in Singapore in 2013.(ant)

JAKARTA - Indonesias Defense Ministry is con-stantly monitoring the Indonesian citizens abducted by an armed group in the Philippines.

“We continue to monitor the operation of the Philippine military. The Philippines has deployed 10 thousand personnel to release the hostages over the past week,” Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu noted here on Thursday.

During the operation, the Philippine troops have killed some 40 Abu Sayyaf rebels in offensives on the southern islands and have wounded some of the groups members.

The minister stated that the Philippine govern-ment had intensified operations to free the hostages. “Seven Indonesian citizens have been held by an armed group in the Zulu Islands, South Philippines,” he remarked.

The minister has confirmed that the Indonesian citizens held captive by the Abu Sayyaf militant group in the southern Philippines are in good condi-tion. The minister affirmed that joint maritime patrols by Indonesia and the Philippines should be realized soon to secure Indonesian ships and their crew sailing through the Philippine waters.

Coordinating Minister for Law, Security, and Political Affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan earlier stated that a team had been set up to negotiate the release of Indonesian ship crewmen held hostage by Abu Sayyaf

The team of negotiators comprises Indonesians and Filipinos under the coordination of the Indone-sian government. The team was formed in line with the policy of the Indonesian government, which prefers negotiations for the release of hostages, Luhut said.

The military option is not yet feasible as the Phil-ippine Constitution does not allow the operations of foreign military in the country, he pointed out. “No, not yet (permission for conducting a military opera-tion),” he stated.

Meanwhile, Indonesia called to hold a trilateral meeting with Malaysia and the Philippines to discuss cooperation to secure the sea trade lanes. The meeting will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday next week in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

On Sunday, three more Indonesians were held cap-tive by the separatist group, in addition to the seven other Indonesian sailors taken hostage earlier. The three were the crew of a Malaysian fishing vessel car-rying a total of seven crewmen, but non-Indonesian members were set free by the separatist group.

Indonesian Military Chief Gen. Gatot Nurmantyo expressed ire on the separatists strategy of taking only Indonesians as hostages. “What makes me very angry is they selected Indonesians (as hostages),” the general added.(ant)

JAKARTA - The National Cyber Agency (BCN) is expected to be established in August 2016, Coordi-nating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan stated.

“Probably, next month, the agency will be ready,” Minister Pandjaitan said here, Thursday. The process of establishing the agency has reached its final stage, he added. The gov-ernment had planned to set up the agency since 2015.

Earlier, Communication and In-formatics Minister Rudiantara had stated that Minister Pandjaitan was coordinating to set up the agency.

The communication and infor-matics ministry has prepared the standardization process for the cyber agency in dealing with sectors, such as finance and banking, transporta-tion, energy, and mineral resources.

In the meantime, a cyber security expert recently said Indonesia ur-gently needs to establish the BCN.

Pratama Dahlian Persadha, for-mer chairman of a team of the State Code Agency for Presidential Information Technology Security, said Indonesia was lagging behind neighboring countries, such as Ma-laysia and Singapore, in the area of cyber security.

“Singapore has already estab-lished a BCN since 2009, not to mention the United States, where President Obama has direct access to every matter related to cyber

security,” Pratama remarked.Pratama, who is chairman of the

Communication and Information System Security Research Center, said Indonesia is not like several European countries, with a small land territory and mono-ethnic nationality.

“Indonesia has several data on strategies and covert information, including about state secrets, which need to be safeguarded, to preserve the nations pluralism and state integ-

rity,” he affirmed.Currently, part of the data has been

saved digitally. Without adequate protection, the data can become a po-tential threat, he pointed out. “Later, the BCNs duty should be more than just to protect data. The main task of the BCN would be to secure Indone-sias cyberspace,” he noted

“The BCN should function on the similar lines as the armed forces in the cyber world,” Pratama added.(ant)

The fun was captured in a photo that police posted on Twitter and was liked more than 4,000 times.

“They were able to talk about a common subject and it broke all barriers between them,” Detective Nelson Sousa told local television station WPRI.

The New York City Police De-partment’s 19th Precinct tweeted a photo of an officer riding in his cruiser with his “new partner”

seated beside him, the popular Pokemon character known as Pikachu.

Two gamers playing in a Ful-lerton, California park on Tuesday wound up catching a man sought by police for crimes including at-tempted murder, authorities said.

They were alerted by other players to a man following women and improperly touching children, and so the pair notified police and detained him until officers arrived. He was later found to have an outstanding warrant for multiple offenses. (rtr)

May, who has been interior minister for six years and is seen by her supporters as a safe pair of hands to steer the country through the disruptive Brexit process, will become Britain’s second woman prime minister, after Margaret Thatcher.

Britain’s decision to leave has rocked the bloc it joined 43 years ago, and thrown decades of Euro-pean integration into reverse.

Cameron, who led the “Remain” campaign, announced the morning after the June 23 referendum that he would stand down, triggering a leadership contest in the ruling Conservative Party.

The contest had been due to last until September but ended unex-pectedly on Monday when junior

energy minister Andrea Leadsom, May’s last rival candidate after others were eliminated, abruptly pulled out.

After taking part in his last weekly session of Prime Minister’s Questions (PMQs) in parliament’s House of Commons at lunchtime, Cameron will make his way to Buckingham Palace to tender his resignation to Queen Elizabeth.

May will then enter Number 10 Downing Street as prime minister before the end of the day.

The shocks of the referendum result, Cameron’s resignation, and disarray in the main opposition Labour Party have plunged Britain into its deepest political crisis in modern times.

Apart from the task of execut-

ing Brexit, May must try to unite a divided party and a nation in which many, on the evidence of the refer-endum, feel angry with the political elite and left behind by the forces of globalisation.

She is expected to immediately start putting together a new cabinet, a complex political balancing act in which she will try to satisfy oppos-ing camps in her party.

Before the referendum, May had campaigned for Britain to remain in the EU, albeit in a low-key fashion. Since the vote, she has repeatedly said that “Brexit means Brexit” and her backers say she is determined to make the exit a success.

“Of course Theresa is going to want to make sure she’s got a balanced ticket that represents the views of different parts of the party,” cabinet minister Chris Grayling, who campaigned for Br-exit and managed May’s leadership campaign, told BBC radio. (rtr)

MOSCOW - Last month, three major banks rescued industrial-ist Igor Zyuzin’s coal and steel firm Mechel from what would have been Russia’s biggest ever corporate collapse.

The bailout was unusual in a country where so many decisions often lead back to President Vladimir Putin or his inner circle. Zyuzin has long been an outsider, a multi-millionaire who built his business empire by staying out of the reach of the Kremlin. Eight years ago, Putin publicly humiliated Zyuzin after the businessman failed to show up for a meeting.

The rescue deal shows how much Russia has changed since then. The commodity price slump and sanctions over the conflict in Ukraine have hurt the economy and unsettled Putin’s grip on power.

Thirteen people involved in the Mechel rescue deal have given Reuters new details about the Kremlin’s involvement in the bailout. Some said the decision to save Zyuzin’s company was taken mid-way through last year when the Kremlin realised that the firm’s failure could threaten two of the pillars of Putin’s Russia: social stability and the financial health of a bank close to the Kremlin.

The Kremlin, those sources said, feared that if Mechel went bankrupt it could lead to layoffs among the firm’s 66,000 workers, many of them in rust-belt regions where local TV has shown riot police training to put down worker protests.

“There was a lot of politics in this situation,” said Maxim Po-letayev, first deputy chairman of Russian state lender Sberbank, a major Mechel creditor. “No one wanted to save Zyuzin, but every-thing had to be done without social unrest.”

The Kremlin was also worried about Gazprombank, one of Mechel’s biggest creditors. The brother of Putin’s son-in-law sits on Gazprombank’s board, and the bank has previously financed projects for Kremlin allies. People familiar with the Mechel debt talks said the Kremlin feared Gazprombank would struggle to cover its exposure if Mechel failed.

Those involved in brokering the deal included Igor Sechin, a Putin lieutenant and chief executive of state-owned oil giant Rosneft, according to one source.

Sechin told Reuters he did not want to disclose his discussions with Putin, but said he was aware of Mechel’s difficulties.

“I did not feel any great joy about this. I thought, and I think, that Mechel deserved support, which was given in the end,” he said.

Zyuzin declined to answer questions for this story. A person familiar with his thinking said that he was driven by a sense of responsibility to his company and its workers.

Mechel denied it sought or received any direct intervention from the Kremlin. It said its creditors acted on a commercial basis only, and that the company was helped by a fall in the value of the rouble, which reduced its debt in dollar terms.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov denied any instruction was given to rescue Mechel. “Such discussions are not taking place in the Kremlin and are not agreed with the Kremlin,” he said.

Gazprombank did not respond to Reuters questions, while state lender VTB, another big Mechel creditor, said its decision to restruc-ture Mechel’s debt was motivated by business interests. It called the idea of political intervention “pure nonsense.” (rtr)

MONTPELLIER - Chris Froome showed again he will at-tack his rivals on every terrain as the Briton extended his overall lead in the Tour de France with a surprising move in Wednesday’s 11th stage, which was won with panache by world champion Peter Sagan.

Team Sky’s Froome, along with his lieutenant Geraint Thomas, jumped into the wheel of Sagan when the Slovak broke away from the bunch 12km from the finish with his Tinkoff team mate Maciej Bodnar of Poland.

The four built an advantage of about 20 seconds until the sprinters’ teams started their effort, but they

could not catch the late fugitives.Sagan, already a stage winner

in Cherbourg, outsprinted Froome to take the day’s laurels and de-liver an almost final blow to Mark Cavendish in the green jersey race after the Briton was left behind in the finale because of a mechanical problem.

“I won a stage that was made for the pure sprinters. It was a crazy day,” Sagan said.

Sagan, Froome and Bodnar finished six seconds ahead of the pack, which means the defending Tour champion extended his lead by 12 seconds as he collected six bonus seconds for his second place ahead of Thursday’s much-feared

12th stage which ends up Mont Ventoux.

“This is bike racing at its best,” said Froome.

“I feel like I’m enjoying it, I’m not feeling I’m being forced into this because of pressure.”

Froome had already taken his opponents by surprise when he at-tacked on the final descent of the eighth stage last Saturday.

He now leads fellow Briton Adam Yates (Orica-Bike Exchange) by 28 seconds and Ireland’s Dan Martin (Etixx-Quick Step) by 31 while last year’s runner-up Nairo Quintana (Movistar) of Colombia lies fourth 35 seconds off the pace. (rtr)

Three weeks before the start of racing at the Rio Olympics, three top medal prospects from the highly ranked German sailing team told Reuters on Tuesday that plastic bags and bottles, floating logs, the occasional dead dog and other flotsam will make what is already one of the most challenging Olympic sailing venues even harder.

The sailors said those factors will affect their performance on the “playground,” as the Germans call the race course, more than the presence of disease-causing pathogens at Rio water-sports venues, the focus much pre-Olympic concern.

“I think we do not care too much about the health issues,” said Erik Heil, skipper of Germany’s Olympic entry into the 49er two-man skiff class.

Nearly a year ago, after an Olympic test regatta in Rio, Heil was treated in Germany for an antibiotic-resistant Staphylococcus infection that chewed small craters into his leg.

“We don’t know the reason, it could be the water, it could be a mosquito, it could be something else,” he said.

Heil said he is more concerned with plastic bags and other debris that could snag boats.

The sailing courses inside Guanabara Bay face daily surging tidal currents that push enormous volumes of water, sewage and debris out of the Bay’s narrow mouth, only to

be replaced later by cleaner seawater flushing in from the Atlantic Ocean.

Debris tends to concentrate along the lines of currents and entering or departing tides, said Heil’s 49er crewmate Thomas Ploessel

and Germany’s one-man, single sail Laser-class entry Philipp Buhl. Taking advantage of currents can mean putting a boat dangerously close to floating junk, they said.

Those currents are further influenced

by underwater rocks and mountains. Hills and buildings surrounding the bay change the often light winds and can redirect gusts unpredictably. Courses outside the bay face high waves and high winds. (rtr)

RIO DE JANEIRO - German Olym-pic sailors, one of whom was infected last year by a flesh-eating bacteria after a test run in Rio de Janeiro’s sewage-tainted Guanabara Bay, said this week they are less worried about health risks than racing effectively in shifty winds and wild currents while avoiding float-ing debris.

SEATTLE — Clint Dempsey, Andreas Ivan-schitz and Jordan Morris scored during a 15-min-ute span in the first half as the Seattle Sounders routed MLS-leading FC Dallas 5-0 on Wednesday to end a four-game winless streak.

Joevin Jones and Cristian Roldan added second-half goals for the Sounders, who started the night with five wins from 17 matches and the lowest goal total in the league (14).

Dempsey scored in the 6th minute when he drilled a penalty kick past goalkeeper Chris Seitz for his third goal of the year. The penalty was awarded when defender Maynor Figueroa was called for a hand ball just outside of the 6-yard box and shown the red card. Seattle had not scored on its home field since a 2-0 victory against San Jose on May 7.

Ivanschitz increased the lead to 2-0 in the 18th with his third of the season, and Morris tallied his team-leading seventh just 4 minutes later. Jones scored in the 61st, fol-lowed by Roldan in the 73rd. Seattle also finished with 10 men after Dempsey was sent off in the 34th minute.

In other matches, Vancouver had a 2-0 win over Real Salt Lake, the New York Red Bulls beat Orlando 2-0, the Montreal-Portland and Toronto-Columbus games finished in 1-1 draws, and Chicago edged Sporting Kansas City 1-0.

In Portland, Jack McInerney scored his fifth of the sea-son to give the Timbers a 1-0 lead in the 14th but Igancio Piatti equalized for Montreal just before halftime — his 11th this season. The Timbers remained unbeaten in eight games, while Montreal is undefeated in six.

Connor Lade and Felipe scored for the Red Bulls, when ended a four-game winless streak, and Michael de Leeuw scored in the 19th in his first MLS start for Chicago.

At Vancouver, the White Caps scored twice in four minutes and kept the first clean sheet in 11 matches. Cristian Techera scored in the 37th, three minutes after a Real Salt Lake own goal in the first half. (ap)

ATHENS - Panathinaikos will play their first home game of the new Super League season behind closed doors as punishment for crowd disturbances in a playoff match last season. The Super League disciplinary committee on Wednesday handed down the punishment, which was related to incidents during the second match of the playoffs against PAOK Sa-lonica on May 15.

The league said the punishment,

which also includes a hefty fine of 61,750 euros ($68,456.05), was the result of “the behaviour of the fans, as well as their abusive slogans”.

Bottles were thrown onto the pitch and dozens of flares were lit during the match, which marked celebrations by the Ultras’ Gate 13 supporters club at the Apostolos Nikolaidis stadium.

Panathinaikos had several run-ins with the authorities last season due to crowd disturbances which

saw the partial closure of the club’s stadium in January on top of a previous supporter ban and points deductions by soccer authorities..

Panionios were also ordered to play their first home match of the season behind closed doors with a similar punishment due to distur-bances during their playoff match with AEK on May 31. Greece’s Super League fixtures for the 2016/17 season will be released on Monday. (rtr)

STrIkEr Saido Berahino must avoid another transfer outburst and focus on West Bromwich Albion’s upcoming Premier League cam-paign, midfielder Darren Fletcher has said.

Berahino suggested he will nev-er play for the club again at the start of last season after failing to secure

a last-minute transfer to Tottenham Hotspur and, according to British media reports, he has refused a new deal at West Brom.

“If he signs, great, and if he doesn’t he might be here for an-other season so we want him to get his head down and score as many goals as possible,” Fletcher told

British media.“We want good players to stay

here because you have to pay a lot of money to replace them and Saido is no different.”

Berahino, 22, scored four league goals in 31 appearances in the last campaign as West Brom finished 14th in the league. (rtr)

Belgium remains second after losing to Wales in the European Championship quarterfinals. Wales climbed 15 places to 11th.

Colombia at No. 3 and Germany at No. 4 are in an unchanged top five, while Euro 2016 runner-up France is seventh, up 10 places. Iceland is at best-ever 22nd, up 12.

Mexico leads CONCACAF na-tions at No. 14, and Copa America semifinalist United States has risen six to 25th. Algeria is Africa’s best at No. 32; No. 39 Iran leads Asia; and Oceania champion New Zea-land has risen 54 places to No. 93. (ap)

The fun was captured in a photo that police posted on Twitter and was liked more than 4,000 times.

(kmb36)

(kmb37)

(kmb34)

(rtr)

More space adventures as crew return in ‘Star Trek Beyond’

Joel Ryan/Invision/AP

Actress Sofia Boutella poses for pho-tographers upon arrival at the premiere of the film ‘Star Trek Beyond’ in Lon-don, Tuesday, July 12, 2016.

LONDON - The crew of the USS Enterprise are back for more space adventures in “Star Trek Beyond”, the latest episode in the film reboot of the popular science fiction series that marks its 50th birthday this year.

The app, created by mobile game developer Niantic for Nintendo Co Ltd, is upending the world of gam-ing, getting players off the couch and walking outside to play. Staring at their phone screens, they search for virtual Pokemon characters that appear to pop up at office spaces, restaurants, museums and other places. Players score points in vari-ous ways, including capturing the Pokemon characters with a flick of a finger on their phone screen.

The game was the most down-

loaded free app on Apple’s app store, and Nintendo shares surged nearly 25 percent on Monday.

Less than a week after launching in the United States, where it has drawn more than 7 million gamers to hunt virtual Pokemon, the game is also facing a backlash.

Hallowed places including Ar-lington National Cemetery outside Washington, D.C. have urged players to stay away, and the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum has asked to be removed from the game,

a museum spokesman said. Across the United States, players have been drawn down dark alleys and into dangerous neighborhoods in search of the imaginary creatures, only to be targeted by criminals.

In College Park, Maryland, university students holding their smartphones out to play Pokemon Go were robbed on Tuesday night by an armed suspect, police said. In Antelope, California, two men playing the game in a park late on Sunday reported being robbed and carjacked by a gunman.

Fireworks were thrown from an SUV at a group playing the game after midnight on Monday on the streets of Boca Raton, Florida,

police there said. No injuries were reported.

And in Wyoming, a 19-year-old woman who set out to catch a Pokemon by the Big Wind River on Friday instead found a dead body.

The game was also to blame for a rash of car accidents in the United States. An illegally parked car whose driver had exited to catch a Pokemon was struck from behind, according to reports from Texas A&M University police, and another car struck a tree while its driver was playing the game while driving, Auburn New York police said.

At the same time, Pokemon characters have aided police, from

helping catch elusive suspects to burnishing officers’ public image at a time of strained ties between law enforcement and communities throughout the United States.

Noticing people playing the game on the street in Fall River, Massachu-setts on Sunday, an officer on patrol jumped in to join them.

DENPASAR - Taking advan-tage of sunlight into electrical energy

source is one of the ways to achieve green energy in Bali. When the implementation also involves communities, especially those in rural areas, it will also result in economic impacts. On that account, the plan of using sunlight to be converted into elec-tricity needs to be assessed and coordinated with relevant parties.

“Indeed some figures make a draft regarding how the electrical energy from sunlight can take advantage of village-based enterprise (BUMDes—Ed). That is great, but it needs a further study and coordination with relevant parties like the PLN and others, economic analysis, what can be obtained by village from the draft so that later on Bali can real-ize a green energy,” said Chief of the BPMPD Bali, Ketut Lihadnyana, in Denpasar.
