Central Tiger Tales A Leader in Me School - March 2019 A Message From Your Principal - ILEARN Assessment Begins in April Indiana has a new state-wide assessment called ILEARN for all 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students across the state this spring. The testing window will open at the end of April and closes in mid May, providing time for our students at the elementary level to be tested in the following content areas: · English/Language Arts: Grades 3-5 · Mathematics: Grades 3-5 · Science: 4th Grade · Social Studies: 5th Grade You may be wondering, how is ILEARN different from ISTEP. The new ILEARN standardized test is a computer-adaptive assessment. Every time a student answers a question, his or her response helps determine the next question presented. This approach provides a better measure of what each student knows and shows the level of mastery of the content throughout the assessment. The Indiana Department of Education projects that scores will be available from this spring’s testing on August 15, 2019. Beginning in 2019-20, reports will be available to schools within 12 days of students testing. We appreciate the support that you provide our intermediate students as they prepare for this important assessment next month. For more information please feel free to access the ILEARN for Families website at: https://www.doe.in.gov/assessment/ilearn-families Yours in education, Becky Outcalt Kindergarten Roundup - May 7th and 8th Our Kindergarten Round Up is scheduled for May 7th & May 8th this spring. The studentsare excited to spend the night at the zoo in April. Students will work ingroups to research an animal and take pictures while we are at the zoo.
