Pastor’s Corner

My Dear Parishioners, Last Sunday, we celebrated our Annual Italian Festival with a solemn Mass at 1:30 PM followed by our usual festivities of food, fun & entertain-ment. We were truly blessed to have had the sun shining brightly all afternoon especially consider-ing the recent weather patterns we have experi-enced. Certainly, our Blessed Mother was watching over us! I hope that everyone had a great time. Like last year, I will be following up with more information in the coming weeks as to how we did regarding our proceeds, etc. I sin-cerely thank everyone involved (committee members & volunteers) for their hard work & dedication not only in the festival preparations, but on the day of it, as well as the setup & clean-up of everything. There are so many who work very hard “behind the scenes” to make this day so special. I thank everyone for their untiring commitment to this annual parish event. Many people have been very positive & complimentary concerning the progress we are making on our Parking Lot. I appreciate the pos-itive support. Like all of you, I am looking for-ward to its completion. It’s really coming along nicely. Once we allow the present “base coat” to settle a bit more, the final top sealant will be applied as well as new lines, signage, lighting, etc. This was really a major project for us. I thank you again for your patience, especially with hav-ing to park across the street. I know it can be difficult to cross over Old Eagle School Road. Happily, we should be finished within another week. We continue our reflections on the Eucharist this week as we hear again from the Gospel of St. John and the Bread of Life Discourse of our Lord. The “Fourth Meditation” bulletin insert this week was rather lengthy so we are dividing it up between this week and next week. This med-itation will discuss our understanding and belief in our Lord’s presence both in Word and Sacra-ment at Mass. I invite you to take a bulletin home with you or visit our website for these thought provoking meditations on the source and summit of our faith. I thank you again for your prayerful & finan-cial support of our parish. I pray that you can enjoy what’s left of these summer days. Until next week, may God bless you & your families!

Love and prayers, Fr. Carey
