As most of you know, the Assumption is normally a Holy Day of Obligation that requires our attendance at Mass. However, because this year the Assump- tion falls on a Monday, the obligation has been removed by the bishops' con- ference. We will follow our normal schedule on Monday, with Masses of- fered at 6:15am and 8:30am. As we announced at Masses last weekend, our adoration chapel will official- ly open on Monday, August 22nd. I am very excited that we are finally get- ting into the chapel. I know that this chapel is going to change lives! Of course, the chapel will not be able to function if we do not have sufficient adorers. We had a nice influx of committed adorers sign up last weekend, but we still need many more. We need at least one adorer committed to an hour of prayer beginning every hour and half hour. For instance, one adorer would sign up for 8am and stay until 9am. Another would come in at 8:30am and stay until 9:30am. When the 8am adorer needs to leave at 9am, they could easily do so even if the 9am adorer was 15 minutes late, because the 8:30am adorer would not leave until 9:30am. Please prayerfully consider committing to a particular hour each week. It is the committed weekly adorers who will make it possible for us to maintain the adoration chapel. Understandably there will be some who cannot make this commitment -- unscheduled adorers will certainly be welcome as well. Sign up for adoration is easy -- visit our parish website and scroll down to parish news. There you can click on to the adoration sign up. We have been working through a few "glitches" in the software, so if you encounter a prob- lem, just report it on the website. This is an exciting time in the history of our parish! Be a part of that excite- ment and sign up for adoration. Don't worry about how you will manage giving up that hour -- our Lord always repays us a hundredfold or more. Don't worry about what you will say to our Lord for an hour -- our Lord will speak to your heart in the quiet stillness. Don't worry -- just come and adore Him! Parish Happenings 33 Days to Merciful Love

Live the extraordinary "Jubilee Year of Mercy" to the full! Join Father Guest and the Legion of Mary and consecrate yourself to Divine Mercy.

Using the same 33 day preparation format used in the Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary, we will begin our preparation on Au-gust 29th and end on October 1st, St. Thérèse of Lisieux’s feast day.

33 Days to Merciful Love journeys with one of the most beloved saints of modern times and our patroness, St. Thérèse of Lisieux, and concludes with a consecration to Divine Mercy. St. Thérèse was declared a Doctor of the Church by St. John Paul II, be-cause she had developed a specific spirituality that is recognized as some-thing new and important for the Church. This book and consecration hones in on that spirituality, and how it connects with Divine Mercy. Thérèse made a consecration to Divine Mercy which she calls her Offering to Merci-ful Love, which is really the culmina-tion of her whole spiritual teaching on her Little Way.

Her Offering to Merciful Love is based on her profound insight that the Heart of Jesus is full of mercy, and he longs to pour out that Merciful Love on we sinners. Thérèse realized that sinners often close their hearts to the Lord's great mercy, and their rejection actu-ally causes Jesus deep suffering. So for the purpose of consoling the Heart of Jesus, Thérèse asked the Lord to pour into her soul all the mercy reject-ed by others - and He did. That experi-ence set her on fire with Merciful Love, so that everything she did, no matter how small, was done for love of Jesus. So whether you want to deepen your love of Divine Mercy or have a devo-tion to St. Thérèse, 33 Days to Merci-ful Love is the book to transform you in this "Year of Mercy". Look for more detail in upcoming bulletins!

Opportunities to Help

Masses for the Week

FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students) is the largest Catholic col-lege outreach program in the USA today that sends missionaries to 127 college campuses throughout the na-tion to build Christ-centered friend-ships, bible studies, retreats, and one-on-one mentorships. We lose many Catholics during their college years so our mission is to win them over for the Lord as well as build up the fu-ture leaders of our Church.

Our need: FOCUS, much like the Catholic Church, operates completely on the financial support of others, but unlike traditional parishes, we don't have parishioners who can financially

contribute to our mission because our parishioners are students. For this reason, each missionary seeks both spiritual and financial monthly mis-sion partners to be able to fulfill the Great Commission.
