Your Contributions to God and Parish

6th Sunday of Easter “For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that be God’s will, than for doing evil.” 1 PETER 3:17 The old line says “if you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.” Many of

us are diligent in our planning, making sure things are progressing smoothly, then disaster strikes, we don’t get the result that was intended. An unforeseen prob-lem arises. Many times we may respond negatively. Why me? I did everything right! Here’s the thing – God has a different and better plan in store for you.

SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER MAY 21, 2017

Father John’s News and Notes...

May is the month of Mary, the Mother of the Rosary. Our Blessed Lady asked us to pray and do penance to bring peace to our world. Please join us on Wednesday, May 31st for Mass, the Rosary and Chaplet of Divine Mercy at Mary, Queen of Peace Shrine at 7pm. The shrine is located at the corner of Emge Rd and Imperial Dr in O’Fallon. Father Gary Vollmer will be our celebrant. Any questions, please call Ruth at 636-978-1035.

The Hail Mary To foster a greater devotion to our parish's patroness in this beautiful month dedicated to Mary, we will be praying the Hail Mary after the peti-tions at each Sunday Mass. While a simple prayer, it contains a depth that we can at first glance overlook. The next words of this prayer come to us from Mary’s visitation of her cousin, Elizabeth. As Mary enters Elizabeth’s house, she, under the in-spiration of the Holy Spirit cries out, “Most blessed are you among wom-en, and blessed is the fruit of your womb” (Lk. 2:42). Mary is the most blessed of women, because she was chosen to be the Mother of the Savior. This phrase al-so points to the fact that Jesus, even from His mother’s womb, is true God and truly human as well. We will continue our look at this prayer next week. Mr. George Staley Farewell We invite you to say farewell to our seminarian this Sunday after the 11:00am Mass in the cafeteria. His last day with us will be on Tuesday. May God bless you George and thank you for all you have done for our par-ish! Neo-Catechumenal Way Thank you to all who attended these sessions. This past week was the last week for these sessions. God bless our missionaries who spent this past year with us!
