Heres what a complete LinkedInprofile looks like A completed LinkedIn profile causes your profile to appear higher in search results Put completel information about your current positions in your header box. Heres what a complete LinkedIn profile looks like List all professional positionsyou are proud of, along with adescription of main duties. Ask former co-workers forLinkedIn recommendations toboost your profile. My bestpractice is to thank theperson for the time you spentworking together, say youdlove to write them a LinkedInrecommendation, and askthem if theyd return thefavor. After they say yes, write them one. Its all aboutreciprocity. You can also add projects, presentations, articles, slideshows, etc. related toyour position to your page forpeople to peruse. 7. Heres what a complete LinkedInprofile looks like You may also add stellar test scores, as well as publications youve been featured in. 10. Heres what a complete LinkedInprofile looks like List areas of skills and expertise you have. Others may add their own skills they believe you have, and your contacts may endorse you for these skills. Endorsements cause your profile to show up higher in search results. Once again, its about reciprocity if someone endorses you for something, consider endorsing them for skills, as well. 11. Heres what a complete LinkedInprofile looks like LinkedIn is great forstudents, too, whocan getrecommendationsfrom professors orfellow students. If you took advancedclasses in a subject, consider listingthose courses. 12. Heres what a complete LinkedInprofile looks like The Interests section allows you to show employers your personal side. Employers love well- roundedness, so include interests that are appropriate for a professional setting. 13. Follow news related toyour industry, so you areseen as a lifelong learner, and follow companiesyoure connected with orwant to be employed withto comment on updatesand keep up with openpositions. 14. Are you an All-Star? On the right-hand side of yourprofile, LinkedIn will assign youa profile ranking. The morecomplete your profile, thehigher youll appear in searchresults. 15. Who has viewed your profile? Everyday, check who viewed youre profile. If youre not already connected with the person, click Connect, and send them a personal message Thanks for checking out my LinkedIn profile. Id like to connect with you here. Be aware of who is checking you out if its worth a larger discussion, message the person. 16. Share your knowledge Every day, up to twice is best practice, in my opinion, share an update. This canconsist of the following: News you find interesting A blog from your company An open position at a company What youre looking for if youre in search of a job 17. For your business Optimize yourcompany page Think of your LinkedIn companyprofile as an extension of yourbrand, which will show up insearch results both on LinkedInand on search engines such asGoogle. Your LinkedIn pageprovides an opportunity tooptimize for those keywords youwant people to use to find you,so make sure your page is richwith those words. Your companyLinkedIn page is also a way tostart discussions with people onLinkedIn on topics related toyour industry, as well as getrecommendations on products, show off your staff and post joblistings. 18. For your business Connect withjournalists and influential people LinkedIn contains many members of local and nationalpress connect with them on your network, and youvetaken the first step to getting a story written about you.Scan your homepage feed to see who people in yournetwork and connecting with and sharing content from, and grow your network organically by asking your contactsto offer up e-mail introductions. You can also visit othercompany sites where your target consumers work and findinfluential people through those networks. 19. For your business Become anauthority in Groups LinkedIn has a Groups section, where members may join groups related to topicstheyre interested in both personally and professionally. Those groups havediscussions related to the topics, where you may Like and comment ondiscussions. Think about groups your targeted consumers might be a part of, andparticipate in discussions with them. Then, as you start to build those genuinerelationships with the groups, connect with people on a personal level, and letthem know about your business. 20. For your business Engage your ownfollowers in discussions Just as you would any othersocial network for yourbusiness, use your companyLinkedIn page to connect withfollowers and share valuableinformation. Experiment with times of dayyou post, days of the week, frequency of posts, and typesof content to monitorimpressions, clicks, sharesand engagement percentage just as you would any othersocial network for yourbusiness. 21. For your business Share product updates on your personal page LinkedIn members may share personal updates on their individual pages, andsince the community is work-focused, sharing whats new with your company istotally appropriate. Use LinkedIn personal updates to share companydevelopments, and add a personal twist you can share updates directly fromyour company page, which will help to drive traffic back there, as well. Rememberto try to get a discussion going with your followers by asking questions related tothe content youre sharing, not just posting marketing messages. 22. For your business Create partnerships with like-minded professionalsOnce youve begun those relationshipswith others on LinkedIn, treat them asyou would any other professionalrelationship. Regularly check in withyour contacts, and when you identifyways to help each other, go from there.Once youve worked together, be sureto ask for product recommendationsand personal endorsements, and bewilling to return the favor honestly.Share content with your brand partners, and build up those LinkedIn referrals. 23.
