Successfulon good-to-soft in the Listed Stardom S. in September,he was a place ahead of Thursday=s impressive G3 Craven S. winner Trumpet Major (Ire) (Arakan) whenfourth in a renewal of Newmarket=s G1 Dewhurst S.that is working out well when last seen in October.ABronterre looked to love the rain-softened ground whenhe won by five lengths at Goodwood last September, sohe should be in his element in the conditions,@commented Richard Hannon, who has won three of thelast five renewals. BRUNETTI CHALLENGE TO MONMOUTHLEASE DISMISSED A complaint filed by JohnBrunetti, owner of Hialeah Park, seeking to re-open thebidding process on the lease to operate New Jersey=sMonmouth Park has been dismissed. The Board ofCommissioners of the New Jersey Sports andExposition Authority received a 37-page documentThursday afternoon from its hearing officer MarkStefanacci saying that Brunetti=s challenge was withoutmerit, upholding the decision to give control of the trackto the New Jersey Thoroughbred Horsemen=sAssociation. The organization was granted the right tolease Monmouth Mar. 1, but soon afterwards, Brunetti,who operates Red Oak Stable with a string atMonmouth, challenged the decision, suggesting that theterms of that lease were dramatically different thanthose he had been offered in an initial request forproposals. On Monday, Brunetti also argued before theboard that political contributions made by the NJTHA, anot-for-profit organization, precluded them from beingawarded the lease under the state of New Jersey=s pay-to-play restrictions. The NJTHA argued that, as a not-for-profit, is was not bound by the same rules as abusiness entity. Brunetti also acknowledged campaigncontributions of his own. The NJSEA board met behindclosed doors Thursday and accepted Stefanacci=srecommendations at that time, but did not disclose theiraction until New Jersey Governor Chris Christie gave hisapproval. The governor signed off on the minutes Fridayafternoon. Through his attorneys, Brunetti indicated thathe might appeal the decision if the agreement was notoverturned, but it was not clear Friday what other legalremedies he might seek, if any. Ocala Farm Ministry Community Center Set to Open: After eight years of hard work and fundraising, theOcala Farm Ministry's Community Center is open andready to serve local workers and their families with avariety of services and programs, including after-schooltutoring, English classes, pre-school enrichmentprograms, bible studies, non-denominational churchservices and dental and immunization clinics. Theirsoccer program, which enrolled 147 children this pastseason, will continue to grow and thrive with access tothe enhanced facility.
