Systemization Schedule Overview
BTA Risk Reduction
What we are doing
• Identified BTA risks
• Defined mitigation actions
• Provided preliminary estimates of costs and benefits associated with BTA risk reduction implementation
• Optimizing BTA Systemization activities (biotreatment [ICB], bioreactor off-gas treatment, BRS, & WRS)
• Integrate proposed execution and implementation plan into IMS working file to indicate viability and benefits
• Accelerate BTA Provisional Ops
• Provide multiple opportunities for early BTA hands-on operator access and training for normal and off-normal Ops
8
BTA Risk Reduction
Four Key Mitigation Actions
• Perform enhanced water testing (2 parts: temp and ph control)
• Perform respirometry study (performed in laboratory)
• Perform BRS saltwater test
• Perform BTS/BRS surrogate hydrolysate test
Brine Reduction
System
9
BTA Risk Reduction
Benefits• Establish baseline operating temps
for ICBs
• Identify the optimal seed for BTS startup
• Evaluate dewatering performance and salt cake waste
• Demonstrate BRS effluent meets the water quality standards for recycle to the process water tanks
• Provide the forum for early training and hands-on operator access and use of BTA equipment and SOPs
• Demonstrate early TDG removal capability and provide a BTS module of full-rate processing at the start of Pilot Testing

Processing dirt, the job of mixing the fill with water under the weight of heavy equipment, makes for better compaction when it’s later moved into the enclosures as a base for the slabs that will be poured.
Site Progress
26
Measure twice, dig once. A worker confirms the depth of the trench being carved out. This for the pipes that will be part of the fire line that will serve the EDS site when complete.
