Sang nagligad nga Sabado, Agosto 10, 2013, Si Fr. Ronald C. De Leon nagpatigayon sang hinun-anon upod sa mga representante sang mga senior citizens sang 20 ka mga kabarangayan nga sakup sang aton parokya. Ini nga buluhaton preparasyon sa pagtukod sang isa ka ministry nga magatutok sa mga senior citizens. Ini mangin isa ka sub ministry sa idalum sang service ministry.

Sa sadto nga hinun-anon gin-identify ang duha

ka tinutuyo sang sining bag-o nga ministeryo: una, ang pagpatigayon sang mga aktibidades para sa espiritwal kag moral support para sa aton katigulangan. Calubihan children and adults, with student officers and members of the Dalawidaw and the Citizenship Advancement Training of the Colegio de San Jose (CSJ) Basic Education Departmen (BED), launched the activities for Academic Year 2013-2014. Miss Angelita Alon, Community Extension Service Moderator of BED; Mr. Leopoldo Pardilla, CAT Commandant; Mrs. Lucyl Gulmatico, Director of Community Extension Service; Mrs. Elena Hibionada, Brgy. Apostolic Council (BAC) Coordinator; and Mr. Meril Robles, Pastoral Coordinator of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Candles Parish, were present during the launching.

The activities started with a Bible Enthronement

led by community members of Brgy. Calubihan as they sang ‘Ang Pulong Mo Ginoo’. Everyone raised their hands toward the Bible to welcome God in their midst. This was followed by a paraliturgy with the Dalawidaw choir. Mrs. Elena Hibionada read the introduction while the First Reading was read by a senior citizen of Brgy. Calubihan. The Gospel was read by Mrs. Gulmatico, followed by Miss Angelita Alon who led the Prayers of the Faithful. The offerings included cash gifts from five CSJ students to five residents of the community. The paraliturgy ended with the singing of ‘Give Thanks’.

Mr. Robles gave an inspirational message. Afterwards the adults were grouped together and given

KRISIS: ISA KA KATALAGMAN KAG KAHIGAYUNAN!+Most Rev. Gerardo A. Alminaza D.D.

Nahadlok kag nagalikaw kita sa krisis. Apang sa luyag ta kag sa indi, indi gid kita makapalagyo sa krisis. Ang krisis kabahin sa aton pagtubo. And right now we are going through a difficult time... the whole world is in crisis. And crisis is not a bad thing. Ini suno kay Pope Francis.

Matuod nagaantus gid kita kon may krisis. Apang dapat kita makahibalo how to interpret the crisis. Ano ang kahulugan kag luyag ipatalupangod sini nga krisis sa aton? Ano ang sarang ta mahimo agod aton malampuwasan ini nga panghangkat?

Ang lapnagon nga panan-awan amo nga it is an economic crisis, it is a crisis of work. Apang para sa aton Santo Papa this work problem, this problem in the economy, is a consequence of the great human problem.

What is in crisis is the value of the human person. Daw wala na sang bili kag dignidad ang tawo subong kag dapat gid nga aton itib-ong kag dampigan ang tawo kag ang iya tawhanon nga mga kinamatarong.

Sa pagpaathag pa gid sini si Pope Francis nagpaambit sining panaysayon: “I once read a story about a medieval rabbi in the year 1200. This rabbi explained to the Jews of that time the history of the Tower of Babel. Building the Tower of Babel was not easy. They had to make bricks; and how is a brick made? Mud and straw must be fetched, they must be mixed and the brick brought to the kiln. It involved a lot of work. And after all this work a brick became a real treasure! Then they had to hoist the bricks in order to build the Tower of Babel. If a brick fell it was a tragedy! But if a man fell

Para sa amon, ang JPYM office amon PULOY-AN. Sa masami, diri kami nagatener agud magserbisyo sa Ginoo. Diri man kami naga-bonding

43. Ano ang ikalima nga Sugo sang Dios?

Ang ikalima nga Sugo sang Dios amo:

“INDI KA MAGPATAY”

44. Ngaa ginadumilian ang pagpatay?

Ang pagpatay amo ang pag-utas sang kabuhi sang iban. Ang Dios amo ang taghatag kag tag-iya sang kabuhi, gani ang tawo wala sing kinamatarong sa pagkuha sini, luwas lamang sa pagdampig sang kaugalingon nga kabuhi batok sa luyag mag-utas sini. Wala sing bisan sin-o ang sarang makapatay sa isa ka tawo. (CCC 2258-2262, 2318-2320)

Ang pagpatay isa ka sala nga sakrilehiyo batok sa Dios. Ang kabuhi nga tawohanon balaan, kon sayuron ginapanag-iyahan ini sang Dios. Ang Dios amo ang Ginoo sang kabuhi kag kamatayon, kag ang aton kabuhi iya lamang ginpahulam sa aton. Sia lamang ang may autoridad sa paghatag ukon pagkuha sini.

Ang libro sang Exodo kag Deuteronomio nagatudlo sini: “Indi ka magpatay”. (Ex. 20:13; Deut. 5:17).

Sa iya pagwali sa bukid, sa Jesus nagtudlo sini nga sugo, kag gindugang niya ang

paglikaw sang kaakig, dumot, kag pagtimalos. Iya gintudloan ang iya mga gintuton-an sa pagtaya sang pihak nga pisngi kag paghigugma sa kaaway. “Inyo nabatian ang ginsiling sang una sa inyo mga katigulangan, indi ka magpatay sang tawo. Ang bisan sin-o nga makapatay pagadalhon sa hukmanan. Apang karon nagasiling ako sa inyo nga ang bisan sin-o nga nagakaakig sa iya utod, pagadalhon sa hukmanan; kag ang bisan sin-o ang nagapakalain sa iya utod, sa pagsiling sa iya, Hoy, waay ka pulos! pagadalhon sa Pinakamataas na Hukmanan; kag ang bisan sin-o nga nagasiling sa iya utod, Hoy, buang! My katalagman nga magpa impiyerno.” (Mat. 5:21-22; CCC 2262)

45. Ngaa dapat tahuron ang kabuhi sang tawo?

Ang kabuhi sang tawo balaan tungod kay gintuga ini sang Dios. Ang Dios amo ang Ginoo sang kabuhi halin sa iya pagsugod tubtub sa katapusan. Wala sing bisan sin-o, bisan sa ano nga rason kag kahimtangan ang makahatag sa tawo sing kinamatarong sa pag-utas sang kabuhi sang iya isigkatawo.

Batok ini sa dignidad sang tawo kag sa pagkabalaan sang iya Tagtuga. Ini nga sugo para sa bug-os nga kalibutan kag sa

tanan nga katawohan sa tanan nga duog kag panahon. “Indi mo pag-ipapatay ang tawo nga wala sing sala.” (Ex. 23:7; (CCC 2258)

Ang balaan nga maragtas sang kaluwasan nagasaysay nga sang ginpatay ni Cain ang iya utod nga si Abel, ginsuknaan sia sang Dios: “Karon ang Ginoo nagsiling, ngaa ginhimo mo ining makasiligni nga butang? Ang kasugtanan sa tunga sang Dios kag tawo nagalakip sang pahanumdom nga ang kabuhi dapat tahuron sang tawo sa tunga sang iya kinaugali sa pagpatay. “Kon may magkuha sang kabuhi sang tawo, pagasilotan ko sia. Pagapatyon ko ang sapat nga magapatay sang tawo. Ang

bisan sin-o nga magpatay sang tawo pagapatyon man sang pareho niya nga tawo. Kay ang tawo ginhimo nga kaangay sa Dios.”(Gen. 9:5-6)

Ang Daan nga Kasugtanan nagatudlo nga ang DUGO amo ang tanda sang kabuhi. “Ang kabuhi sang tagsa ka nagakabuhi nga butang yara sa dugo, kag tungod sini ginsingganan sang Ginoo ang mga tawo sang Israel nga indi sila magkaon sang bisan ano nga karne nga yara pa ang dugo sa sini, kag nga ang bisan sin-o nga magkaon sini indi na pagkabigon nga isa sang iya mga tawo.” ( Lev. 17:14; CCC 2260)

May mga tinaga sa sining mga gintugda ni Jesus nga dapat naton hatagan sing pagtalupangod agud mahangpan naton sing kabug-usan ang mensahe sang aton ebanghelyo subong nga Domingo.

Una, ang ginsiling ni Jesus nga magakari siya sa pagdala sing kalayo sa kalibutan. Ini nagasimbolo sang presensya sang Dios diri sa kalibutan paagi sa iwag nga ginadala sang iya bugtong nga Anak. Ang iya pagkatawo, ang iya pulong kag buhat, ang iya ministerio kag pagpanaksi sa Maayong Balita sang kaluwasan amo mismo ang magadala sang bug-os nga katawhan gikan sa kaduldolman sang sala kag kamatayon padulong sa kahimayaan kag pagkabalaan.

Ikaduha, ang ginsiling ni Jesus nahanungod sa pagbaton niya sang bunyag ukon pagbautiso nga sa diin ini nagasimbolo sang kaangtanan niya sa iya Amay, kag ini may implikasyon sa aton man mismo kaangtanan sa Dios paagi sa pagpakigbahin naton sa simbahan. Ikatlo, ang ginsiling ni

Jesus nga sia nagkari indi sa pagdala sang paghidait kundi sang pagbinahin-bahinay. Sa aton pagpaninguha nga mangin tampad kag himpit sa aton pagtuo, indi gid malikawan nga may tinion sa aton kabuhi nga ang aton pagpatigayon sang aton katungdanan may kaupod nga pagpanghingabot kag pag-antus; pero ining mga tinaga nga ginhambal ni Jesus sa ebanghelyo indi mangin rason agud nga madulaan kita sing paglaum kung mag-abot gid man ang kahigayunan nga may mga tawo nga indi makahangop sang aton pagkatampad kag pagkahimpit sa aton pagtuo.

Ikap-at, ang kabug-usan sining ginsiling ni Jesus nagadala sang mensahe sang paghigugma, pagpatawad, kag kaluoy, bisan pa nga ining kalibutan puno sang kasakit kag kabudlay. Ang matuod-tuod nga Kristianismo nga padayon nga nagasakdag sang kamatuoran, hustisya, dignidad, kag kahilwayan sang

kadam-an, may posibilidad gid nga maka-atubang sang madamo nga pagpahingabot. Pero ang may kaisog sa pag-atubang sini, maka-angkon sang padya bangud kay sila bulahan kag balaan.

PamangkotAno ang akon personal nga

paghangop nahanungod sining gintugda ni Jesus sa ebanghelyo? Ini bala nakadala sa akon sang kakugmat ukon pagpang-agda? Na-eksperiensyahan ko man bala ang pagpanghingabot bangud sang akon pagkatampad kag pagkahimpit sa akon pagtuo? Paano ko bala nalampuwasan ining mga kabudlay kag pag-antus nga akon gin-atubang bangud sang akon madalom nga relasyon sa Dios? Paano bala ako mangin instrumento sang kamatuoran, hustisya, kahilwayan, paghidait, paghigugma, kag kaalwan sa akon mga kautoran?

20th Sunday in Ordinary Time

The Fire of Jesus Ma. Rosario L. Rote-Tejada

In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus tells His disciples and us that ‘…I have come to set the world on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing...!’ In another Gospel account, on the road to Emmaus, the apostles, upon realizing that the Stranger they were talking to was indeed Jesus, recalled and asked one another,’ Weren’t our hearts burning when he was talking to us?’

Jesus is indeed the Flame that keeps us alive. He is the Flame which can melt and mould us to what He wants us to be. However, it is not always a smooth road ahead of us. When Jesus sets us on fire, He also creates division in the sense that, when the Holy Spirit works in us, we have the strength to say ‘No!’ to a situation or to a person or event which can move us away from Him. He is the Force that makes us say ‘Yes!’ when it means getting closer to and be more like Him.

It is worthwhile to always look at the two sides of situations: the one that we see and the one that we do not see. Let us always weigh things before we give our decision. That is why it is more challenging and memorable when we are made to choose; more so when we have had a difficult time trying to decide before we finally pronounce our choice. A basketball game will not be that enjoyable if there were no two teams competing to outdo each

other’s best.Competitions are not bad.

They provide good avenues for improvement and to showcase such good talents or abilities. They are ways whereby a simple ability is honed and sharpened to be at its best. They are also means whereby one may be given his or her chance to be at the limelight, as we say, ‘This is my time to shine.’

God’s gift of faith makes all these possible. He alone chooses on whom to bestow this gift. It is this faith that

keeps us burning with love for Him. And when we are kept burning by this Faith, we will all be consumed by its warmth and blaze and it is hoped that, in turn, we share this burning flame with others.

Let us reflect on today’s Gospel by looking into our personal lives as Jesus sets us to flames of fire. Have I let Jesus set me on fire? And as I let myself be consumed by this fire, do I spread it to people whose lives I touch and those who have touched me in return? Have I, too, set them on fire?

It is not only enough that God calls us, but that we answer and change our lives for Him; and in the process change other’s lives too. It is not easy but what matters is that we continue to persevere in doing this despite the difficulties and challenges. Just blend and keep burning with Jesus’ Fire.

Basic Bible Seminar I by Mrs. Gulmatico at the Brgy. Hall; the children attended a catechesis class by the CSJ students at the chapel. Candies were given out as

COLEGIO.... from page 1 prizes for questions that were answered correctly, adding more fun to the catechesis class. Both the students of CSJ and the children of Calubihan enjoyed being with each other. Meanwhile, the adults likewise enjoyed

learning about how to find the verses of the Books or Letters in the Bible. They ended up committing to invite other MKK members to join the regular faith sharing activities.

(prepared by Kagawad Ella Tiongson) and bread (sponsored by CSJ) were served for snacks. Everyone went home happy because each was an active participant of the unifying activity.

At the end of each day, let us try to spend even just thirty minutes to examine our conscience and see what we have done with the number of hours given to us by the Lord, from the time we woke up from our sleep until the setting of the sun.

Each of us has a personality all his own and we know very well our inclinations as well as the things we dislike. Let us try to examine our positive side and see what good we have done for the day. Have we entertained gossips and contributed to insults and the degradation of some people we know, or did we try to be subtle in helping settle differences, thus ending hatred and bad relationships?

We must remember that any feeling of hatred and envy, every harsh word spoken against somebody, any uncharitable action done against anybody, is a rusty nail driven through the hands of Jesus. If we hurt somebody’s feeling through

rash judgment, we hammer the crown of thorns on Jesus’ Head. If we go to gambling dens, drink heavy liquor, take drugs and cheat in games, we hammer the big nail through His Feet and let His blood drip. If we turn traitor to our loved ones and prefer socialization to community loyalty, we pierce His Heart with our insincerity and thoughtlessness.

Let us try to alleviate the sufferings of Jesus by trying to transform and carry our crosses as we pray along the way.

Each one has his own cross, his own Calvary, but we can make our trials more bearable and our crosses less heavy if we have an intercessor who has an easy access to the heart of Jesus.

There is a bright star in heaven, the biggest and the brightest star, who has the access to the inmost part of Jesus’ heart. This star can lighten our fears and remove our uncertainties if we know how to turn to her. She is no other than the Blessed Virgin

Mary who listens to anyone who calls to her.

Our Church celebrates her assumption into heaven every August 15. How she loves to be invoked. How she loves to listen to prayers. It is said that heaven rejoices more for a sinner to be repentant and return to God’s graces, than for many people kneeling and praying only with their lips, and not with their heart.

I can still remember when I was a student at the Colegio de la Immaculada Concepcion in Pototan and became president of the Sodality of the “Hijas de Maria”. Mother Carmen Rua, our adviser, made me study the virtues and especially the generosity of the Blessed Virgin which became very useful to me when I started my apostolate in the Barangay Sang Birhen and many others afterwards. In every seminar we gave, from the Cursillos in Christianity, until the apostolate of the Value Formation Seminar, we emphasized the importance

of praying the rosary daily, with specific intentions. From the schools, to the barrios, even to military camps, many conversions were made and many devotees learned the beauty of the rosary.

Today, we need the intercession of the Blessed Virgin, whatever road we take in order to be sure of our journey. I’d like to share with you this song from the movie Singing Nun:

Far beyond the stars, my soul is longing to go

There beyond the sun, to a better place I know

Through the darkest night I can see the heavenly glow,

Far away beyond the stars.

Time, ages of time, yet is my time so dear
