Anointing of the Sick—Anyone facing surgery or dealing with a serious illness should contact the parish office or Fr. Kevin for the reception of this sacrament. Our parish and LifeSouth Community Blood Centers will conduct a blood drive in the Our Lady of Victory
School parking lot on Sunday, November 15, 2020. Please consider being a donor. Our community is in dire

Brothers and Sisters in Christ, SVdP WILL be delivering Thanksgiving Meal Baskets again this year. Our number of clients has greatly increased this year which means that the necessity for the love of the St. Matthew community is greater than ever. However, we will have to modify things a bit. As you look at the requested food items, you will notice that we eliminated asking you to purchase the turkey. SVdP will be placing a Kroger gift card in each bag which will be used by each recipient to purchase their turkey. We will NOT be collecting the baskets before the weekend Masses, but instead, we will collect them under the awning of Our Lady of Victory on November 21, from 10:00 AM to 1:00PM Once again, thank you for being a blessing for a family in need. THANKSGIVING FOOD BASKETS
Hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,
SVdP estará entregando canastas de comidas de Acción de Gracias nuevamente este año. Nuestro número de clientes ha aumentado enormemente este año, lo que significa que la necesidad del amor de la comunidad de San Mateo es mayor que nunca. Sin embargo, tendremos que modificar un poco las cosas.
Al mirar los alimentos solicitados, notará que eliminamos la solicitud
que compre el pavo. SVdP colocará una tarjeta de regalo Kroger en cada bolsa
que será utilizado por cada destinatario para comprar su pavo.
NO recogeremos las cestas antes de las misas de fin de semana, sino que
los recogeremos bajo el toldo de Nuestra Señora de la Victoria el 21 de noviembre,
de 10:00 AM a 1:00 PM
Una vez más, gracias por ser una bendición para una familia necesitada.

Saint of the Week
Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini | Feast Day - November 13
Frances Xavier Cabrini was the first United States citizen to be canonized. Her deep trust in the loving care of her God gave her the strength to be a valiant woman doing the work of Christ.
Refused admission to the religious order which had educated her to be a teacher, she began charitable work at the House of Providence Orphanage in Cadogno, Italy. In September 1877, she made her vows there and took the religious habit.
When the bishop closed the orphanage in 1880, he named Frances prioress of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart. Seven young women from the orphanage joined her.
Since her early childhood in Italy, Frances had wanted to be a missionary in China but, at the urging of Pope Leo XIII, Frances went west instead of east. She traveled with six sisters to New York City to work with the thousands of Italian immigrants living there.
She found disappointment and difficulties with every step. When she arrived in New York, the house intended to be her first orphanage in the United States was not available. The archbishop advised her to return to Italy. But Frances, truly a valiant woman, departed from the archbishop’s residence all the more determined to establish that orphanage. And she did.
In 35 years, Frances Xavier Cabrini founded 67 institutions dedicated to caring for the poor, the abandoned, the uneducated and the sick. Seeing great need among Italian immigrants who were losing their faith, she organized schools and adult education classes.
As a child, she was always frightened of water, unable to overcome her fear of drowning. Yet, despite this fear, she traveled across the Atlantic Ocean more than 30 times. She died of malaria in her own Columbus Hospital in Chicago.

San Francisca Javiera Cabrini | Fiesta - 13 de noviembre
Francisca Javiera Cabrini fue la primera ciudadana estadounidense en ser canonizada. Su profunda confianza en el cuidado amoroso de su Dios le dio la fuerza para ser una mujer valiente que hace la obra de Cristo.
Al rechazar la admisión a la orden religiosa que la había educado para ser maestra, comenzó una obra de caridad en el orfanato House of Providence en Cadogno, Italia. En septiembre de 1877 hizo allí sus votos y tomó el hábito religioso.
Cuando el obispo cerró el orfanato en 1880, nombró a Frances priora de las Hermanas Misioneras del Sagrado Corazón. Siete jóvenes del orfanato se unieron a ella.
Desde su primera infancia en Italia, Frances había querido ser misionera en China pero, a instancias del Papa León XIII, Frances se fue al oeste en lugar de al este. Viajó con seis hermanas a la ciudad de Nueva York para trabajar con los miles de inmigrantes italianos que vivían allí.
Encontró desilusión y dificultades a cada paso. Cuando llegó a Nueva York, la casa destinada a ser su primer orfanato en Estados Unidos no estaba disponible.
