We will never forget

In the past 18 months we have been met with a challenge

unprecedented in our lifetime. COVID-19 has called upon us as a

community and individuals to pivot and to double down on

physical and mental health. Today, we continue our work to

advance the health of Southeastern Wisconsin, but as we do so,

our hearts are heavy for those lost.

Moreover, in today's reflection, we remember the 2,977 people

killed and the nearly 6,000 injured in the terrorist attacks of

September 11th. On the 20th anniversary we continue our promise,

"No day shall erase you from the memory of time." A vow that is

inscribed on a concrete wall, that now exists between where the

twin towers of the World Trade Center once stood.

As we think about the loss of our loved ones and fellow Americans

who we've never met, it may weigh heavy on our minds. But it is

the grief, empathy and compassion born from those feelings that

will drive the change and the hope of a better tomorrow.
