The following photos show Howie’s students on some recent trips to Purgatory Chasm. Your own activities will be determined by your own comfort level, but Purgatory offers a safe, moderate, and memorable hiking experience for all. The main trail through the Chasm’s interior, in the shadows of its 60’ walls, can be navigated with some simple rock scrambling. Other trails, caves, and high perches are more to individual taste. There are plenty of opportunities, high and low, for quiet relaxation and reflection. And remember, feel free to bring the kids – they love it!
