What will this year look like?
• In many ways this year will be the same as it would be if
you were in the building.
• Teachers will be engaging you in discussion about
various subjects, and you will be asking and answering
questions to expand your knowledge.
• You will be reading and exploring content and practicing
skills.
• You will seek help from your teacher and from available
resources for guidance.
• Teachers will differentiate instruction for all students and
provide feedback and extra assistance for those who
need help.

What will be different with online learning?
• Students will access their e-mail each morning for communication
from their teachers.
• Students will use the link to the Zoom set up by the teacher for the
entire 9 weeks– Save the links in a convenient space.
• Students join the zoom ready for daily instruction.
• Teachers will be providing more information about use of Google
Classroom and Canvas once school begins.
• Students will ask questions orally or through the Chat feature in
Zoom – Be specific with your questions – Explain “what” you don’t
understand.
• Students will work in groups through Break-Out Sessions in Zoom.
• Students will upload their assignments to Google Classroom
and/or Canvas for feedback and grading.

Schedules Check your schedules in Student Vue once they are
ready
1st choice electives given priority, but not always possible due to scheduling conflicts.
Changes in the Pre-IB schedules must be made by e-mailing Ms. Gardner [email protected]
Freshmen Seminar – no grades or coursework
Each student will be assigned a counselor who will create a 4 year plan with the student.
A copy of your schedule will be given out on August 31st – Distribution day for first time 9th graders at Granby from 12:00-6:00 pm. See communication from the principal for more details.

Expectations and Best Practices
Parents should make sure their e-mail and phone numbers
are updated in our system in order to receive important
communication.
Students must check their NPS e-mail daily for
communication from their teachers.
Students will follow the regular schedule 7:25-2:05 with the
times for Zooming and independent practice from GHS.
Parents and students should create a work space for
students to Zoom and complete work
Students should organize notebooks for each class and
take notes during Zoom teaching sessions.
Students taking Algebra II should look into purchasing a TI-
84 Calculator to use over the next 4 years in math. School
supply is limited, but students may use DESMOS online

Make connections with your classmates through
breakout sessions during Zoom time.
Exchange contact information to work together at
appropriate times for group work– check the
assignment directions to make sure you can work
together. Be inclusive- not exclusive.
Be supportive by helping classmates understand
concepts and assignments, but DO NOT SHARE
ANSWERS– that is cheating.
Use internet resources for information if you are
allowed (check the assignment instructions), but do
not copy and paste from the internet– that is cheating.

Academic Integrity
Our IB Academic Honesty Policy is posted on our IB tab linked to
the GHS page, and a copy will be mailed home. The policy offers
examples of academic misconduct and ways to avoid making
poor academic choices.
Review the document carefully to understand your
responsibilities and the importance of Academic Integrity.
Now more than ever have students been tasked to be
responsible for their engagement in their studies.

IB CommitmentIn order to move into the IB Diploma Program, students will need to

Directions for Access to
ParentVue and StudentVue
• NPS uses the ParentVue system for parents to view their child’s grades.
• Go to NPS webpage -- www.npsk12.com
• Select “Parents” then “Parent VUE” from the dropdown menu
• New NPS Parents should contact the counseling office or Mrs. Gardner for user
names and passwords. (The activation feature does not work)
• Access to the portal may not be available until school starts
• Students have access to their grades through StudentVue. They should use their
student user id and the last 5 digits of their student number (found on the schedule)
to access their gradebook.
• The user id is available from the counseling office, main office, or Mrs. Gardner
• Students will receive user ids the first day of school
• E-mail Mrs. Gardner at [email protected] with questions or concerns
