3. Defense-alarm räddsla- aggressivitet (CRH, (s), VMH (↓) vs amygdala (↑))
4. Tillväxt (frisättning GHRH och somatostatin, ghrelin receptorer).
5. Reproduktion, inklusive beteende (GnRH)
6. Förlossning (oxytocin, OBS även barnets hypotalamus!)
7. Amning, inklusive mjölk produktion (PRL) och mjölkejektion (oxytocin)

• Basalt i hjärnan, framför hjärnstammen. Under thalamus. Nedanför och runt 3:e ventrikeln. (Främre delen av diencephalon).
• Människa: ca 20 kärnor 0.3-3 mm stora. Grå, består av grå cellkroppar.
• Axoner med neuroendokrin funktion: – Nervterminaler basalt median eminens, Kapilärer
ovan portakärlen, reglerar framloben, körtelhypofysen, som i sin tur reglerar periferin.
– Nervterminaler i bakloben, neurohypofysen, reglerar perifera organ direkt.

Summary hypotalamus • Reglerar basala kroppsfunktioner (tillsammans med
hjärnstammen).
• Reglerar hormonfrisättning från hypofysens fram- och bak-lober.
• Hypothalamus är (liksom hjärnstammen) ”fett-termostat”, har hunger- och mättnads-centrum. – information från fettvävnad (mättnadshormonet leptin)
– från magsäck (hungerhormonet ghrelin)
– från tarmen (mättnadshormoner som GLP-1).
• α-MSH viktig mättnads-neuropeptid, NPY viktig hunger- neuropeptid
• Biorytmer regl av suprachiasmatic nucleus, melatonin- och cortisol-rytmer
• Orexin från laterala hypotalamus minskar sömn och fetma, men ökar aptit, narkolepsi pga brist.
• Reglerar törst och urinproduktion (ADH)
• Reglerar tillväxt, reproduktion, förlossning, amning.
• Viktig för feber och beteendeförändringar vid sjukdom.
