Once again, we faced renewed Covid Protocols. No one wants to be sick. Sometimes the restrictions are excessive, but we pray that this difficult time will pass. We are in the beginning of the annual harvest , we thank God for the fruits of the earth and pray that, with our help, no one will go hungry.

LITURGICAL MINISTRIES

The community of the faithful gather in prayer at liturgy. While we are all called to full and active participation in the liturgy, some have specific roles during the worship of the community. Altar servers serve the community's prayer by helping to make the ritual of the Mass proceed with style and grace. . Lectors proclaim the Word of God for the assembly. It is the responsibility of the lector to engage the assembly in the listening and the hearing of the Word. At every parish Mass the ministers of Communion have the great privilege of administering, along with the ordained ministers, the Body and Blood of Jesus to those who come forward to receive the Lord. Ministers of Care are commissioned by the assembly to offer the support and love of the community to those members who are unable to be physically present at the liturgy. Our parish Music Ministry includes musicians, cantors, and choir members which enhance our liturgical celebration. Ministers of Hospitality greet those who come to liturgy and assist in various ways to make all welcome. In the coming months, ongoing formation will be offered to those currently serving as liturgical ministers and initial training will be scheduled for those interested in serving the parish community as a liturgical minister. We will begin our efforts with lectors, ministers of communion, ministers of care and altar servers. Our first step will be to update the list of our current ministers and gather the names of those who are interested in one of these liturgical ministries. Current ministers and those interested, please complete this form.

COVID VACCINATION CLINIC

The Illinois Department of Public Health was pleased with the results of the vaccination clinic last Sunday.

They will return on Sunday, September 12th from 8:00 AM—2:00 PM. Anyone aged 12 or older may take advantage of this opportunity including:

1) Those who received the vaccine last Sunday and are returning for their second dose.

2) Anyone who is eligible for the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

3) Anyone needing a first dose of the Pfizer vaccine; locations for the 2nd dose will be shared.

4) Those who prefer the one dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

A special thanks to the volunteers who assisted throughout the vaccine clinic.

The Feast of our Lady of Charity, patroness of Cuba, will be celebrated at the St. Lambert campus on September 5 at the 12:00 Noon Mass. As is customary, the hymns will be in

Spanish with a translation provided. Due to COVID precautions, there will not be a luncheon afterward. We invite all parishioners to join us in praying for the people of Cuba who are under extreme oppression, retaliatory measures and unprecedented human rights violations.

The Knights of Columbus will be holding an Open House at 7:00 PM, Wednesday, September 1st, in St. Peter Parish Library. We welcome all men and their families of St. Peter and St. Lambert to attend if they are interested in learning more about our charitable contributions, how to grow in their faith, and benefits offered through the Knights of Columbus. There will be food and drink.
