What are the resources that can assist me in finding answers to my ques ons? Who are some of the people I can turn to and talk with? Are there pressing ma ers that I need to a end to before I can get to the deeper ques ons of my voca on?

KEEP HOLY THE SABBATH There's no be er way to deepen our Lenten prac ce than to review the Ten Commandments. The first three, having to do with our right rela onship to God, get the most ink. The one we busy people probably have the most problem with is keeping holy the Sabbath. If we take this commandment literally, babies will go undiapered and dishes will stay on the table, or perhaps meals will not be served. The sick will go una ended and nothing that has anything to do with physical labor will be done. Is mental labor really work? How about changing that dirty diaper (poor baby!)? We need to depend on God to discern how to observe real Sabbath me in our lives. The point of this commandment is that God has given us a great gi : one whole day per week when we are free to rest, worship God, sing, feast, love, and rejoice. As Psalm 19 proclaims: "The law of the LORD is perfect, / refreshing the soul" (19:8). Our Sabbath rest is a great gi , to be received from God with joy, not with nitpicking. Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co., Inc

TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION If your parish is reading from Year B of the Lec onary today, and not Year A, (8:30 AM Mass will hear the year A readings here at Sts. Peter and Paul) as is normally done when there are elect present for the scru nies and preparing for Easter bap sm, you hear about Jesus driving the money-changers from the temple. If you wished to get as close as possible to this site today, you would in fact be at a Muslim shrine, the Dome of the Rock, built on the ruins of Herod's temple. Archeologists believe that this striking, gold-domed crown of a shrine is set precisely where the Holy of Holies once was. Jews believe that the rock is the exact spot where Abraham was prepared to sacrifice Isaac. It is not a mosque, as some think, but a shrine, the oldest one in the Muslim world. For them, the rock is the place from which the Prophet Mohammed ascended on a visit to heaven. The Crusaders mistook the shrine for the actual Temple of Solomon, and the infamous Knights Templar used it as their headquarters and model for their churches elsewhere. The geometric perfec on of the shrine is a mathema cian's dream. The inscrip ons are not exactly hospitable though, since they encourage Chris ans to "depart from error" and declare that "Jesus son of Mary was only a messenger of God." In ancient

mes, those who prayed here a er walking around the rock were given a cer ficate en tling the bearer to admission to paradise. The cket had to be buried with them. --Rev. James Field, Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co

During Lent it is important to pray, many misunderstand what prayer is. They think to pray is just reci ng memorized prayers or hope prayer will produce extraordinary visions such as the transfigura on of Jesus on Mount Tabor. I'm not saying that these things don’t happen, many people have experienced it, some of them for being very holy while others for being crazy. Sincerely, prayer is something else, it is easier than learning sentences from memory and much simpler than ecstasies and visions. To pray is to speak as a son or daughter to the God who loves us as a mother, father, brother, sister, lover and friend. To pray is to tell the Lord how things are going, our fears, our problems, our joys and our desires. To pray is to spend

me with God, some mes talking, and some mes quiet, but always loved. --Fray Gilberto Cavazos-Glz, OFM, Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

Area Lenten Reconcilia on Services Cactus March 7, No Mass in Dumas Borger March 20, No Mass in Dumas Perryton March 22 If you cannot a end one of these, Father will be in the confessional every Saturday from 4:00—4:45 PM before the Saturday evening Mass.

--Fray Gilberto Cavazos-Glz, OFM, Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

The West Texas Catholic has a UCA report for this year (2017-2018). Again this year we are very behind. If you pledged money to this fundraiser, please honor your pledge and get this paid. The parish is responsible if the pledges are not paid. Please, please honor your promise and pay these monies!!!

We hope to update our list of those who help with funerals by providing desserts, salads or potatoes. Many of our phone numbers are no longer working numbers and we have some who would like to be on the list that aren’t and some that are on the list that would like to be removed. Please take the me to put the informa on requested on the sign up sheet in the back of church. We will have the sheet there for a couple weeks so please take care of this now.

Almighty God, we are in need of rain. We realize now, looking up to the clear blue sky above, what a marvel even the least drop of rain really is. To think that so much water can fall out of the sky, which now is empty and clear. We place our trust in You. We are sure that You know our needs, but You want us to ask You anyway, to show You that we know we are dependent on You. Look on our dry fields, dear God, and bless them with the living blessing of so rain. The land will rejoice, and the rivers will sing Your praises, and the hearts of men will be glad. Amen!
