Marriage: Please make arrangements at least six months in advance to allow for adequate preparation. Sick and Homebound: Contact the office at 781-729-1965 for a home visit.

CORI WEEKEND
THIS WEEKEND ( October 17/18) Every year, we are required by the Archdiocese to
distribute CORI forms to all paid parish and school lay employees, any layperson who draws a check from the
parish, school or agency (including 1099 folks) and volunteers 17 years of age and older ministering to children, youth, elderly, and the disabled or serving
within various ministries, including, but not confined to, religious education volunteers, pastoral visitation to the
sick and homebound, choir members, Eucharistic ministers, ushers, lectors and nursing home and hospital
visitors.
If you have not yet filled out your CORI (Criminal Offense Record Information) form, you may do so in the
Gathering Room following each Mass.
BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE
As we approach the month of November, we are invited to become more mindful of our deceased loved ones. The Book of Remembrance is now in the rear of the upper church. Please feel free to write the names of all those you have loved and lost. They will be remembered at all our Masses during November. St. Mary’s Grade I celebrates “Penguin Day”

October 25th from 2:00-9:00pm in the Lower Church.
Peace and Justice Meeting: 7:30 pm, Tuesday, October 20th
The Peace and Justice Ministry meets the third Tuesday of every
month. The Peace and Justice Ministry is dedicated to promoting
justice and defending those who are most vulnerable through
works of mercy, promoting education, advocating for change, and
transforming the world through love and service. Come help us
plan for this year's movies, programs, collections, and more!

Come and spend the most peaceful hour (or part of an
hour) of your week with Jesus. Each Friday after the 9
AM Mass the Blessed Sacrament is exposed upon the
altar (Lower Church). The recitation of the Chaplet of
Divine Mercy will take place at 3:00pm, followed by
reposition. Please join us. We are committed to having
at least two persons present at all times of Adoration.
There is a sign-in book in the Gathering Room near the
entrance to the Mary Chapel. If you can commit just one

October 18 –Twenty-ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time Let’s give James and John credit for being direct. VERY direct: “Teacher …do for us whatever we ask of you." No holding back here. And what a hornet’s nest they stirred up with the others! This is a glimpse of real life – it’s not all sunshine, hillsides with bread and fish, and receptive crowds. Life can hold dissent and jealousies and discontent. But the letter to the Hebrews reminds us that in Jesus we “do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has similarly been tested in every way, yet without sin.” How blessed we are to be so loved and understood. Do you pray to Jesus as your dear, trusted, friend who loves you?

Our loving God has called us together today to hear and respond to the Good News that Jesus Christ came to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many. What today's celebration also makes clear is that if we are to follow Jesus, we too must learn to serve with expectation of reward. As we prepare for our celebration, let us pray that we will continue to be formed as true Christian servants. Do I insist on asserting my superiority over others? What changes in behavior are necessary for me to give up such pretensions to power?
