hosts, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen!

Indeed, a great deal has transpired in just one week! With the academic school year underway, many of our parish faith formation programs kicked off. The Parish Religious Education
Program (grades K-5), EDGE (grades 6-8), and ROC (grades 9 & 10) all began their fall sessions. It is with great joy and enthusiasm that we welcome back our students after two years of online faith formation classes. Having them back on site is a great blessing and seeing so many returning and new students has been met with an abundance of hope and joy.
This weekend, our Life Teen Program celebrates 24 Years in the Life! This 24th Anniversary is filled with great expectations of a year like none other. All of these wonderful programs remind us of the importance of forming our young people in the gift of the faith. Please pray for the directors of these programs, Melissa, Monét, and Elizabeth, and those who will assist them in bringing the faith to your children. May God who has begun this good work in our parish family, bring it to fulfillment.
Yours in Christ, Fr. Wayne

October 5th is the feast day for St. Faustina (who brought to the world the messages of Di-vine Mercy as revealed to her by Jesus). For the nine days prior to her feast day we will be praying a St. Faustina novena at the Hour of
Mercy (3pm) in addition to our daily (weekday) Divine Mercy Chaplet and Divine Mercy Litany. We meet at the Divine Mercy Shrine at the Parish Center. Copies of the novena will be available at the Parish Center next week.

“Let us allow Jesus, the living bread, to heal us of our self-absorption, open our hearts to self-giving, liberate us from our rigidity and self-concern, free us from the paralyzing slavery of defending our image, and inspire us to follow
him wherever he would lead us.” – Pope Francis, at the closing Mass for the Congress,
September 12, 2021
International Eucharistic Congress
This past week thousands of Catholics gathered in Budapest, Hungary for the 52nd International Eucharistic Congress (IEC). The mission of the Congress, which meets every four years, is to continue to deepen the understanding of the Eucharist and to help Catholics reflect on the mission of the Church to make God’s love present in the world today. The theme for this year’s Congress was “All my springs are in you,” taken from the last verse ofPsalm 87:7: “Singers and dancers alike say, All my springs are in you.” Much of the Congress was offered live through Catholic media outlets, and many of the talks are still available to view online. So many inspirational and informative presenters took the stage over the course of the five days; check them out if you can!
Below is the official prayer of the Congress, which will hopefully touch the hearts of many Catholics globally and increase our collective love for the Eucharist.
Heavenly Father, source of all life! Send us your Holy Spirit, that we may recognize
and grow in the love of Christ present in the Eucharist, who handed himself over for us!
He is our Lord and our Master, our friend and our food, our healer and our peace. Give us the courage to take his
strength and his joy to every person! Grant us, that the time of the preparation
and the celebration of the Eucharistic Congress would serve the spiritual renewal of our community,
cities, nation, Europe and the world! Amen.
Blessings and best wishes,
Elizabeth Healy, Pastoral Associate
Wisdom of God in the Lives of the Saints by Fr. Dominic
“Prayer is the place of refuge for every worry, a foundation for cheerfulness, a source of constant
happiness, a protection against sadness.” -Saint John Chrysostom
Prayer is the remedy for everything. One of the fruits of prayer is peace, which Saint Augustine defines as the tranquility of order. Anxiety is one of the enemies of peace because it disrupts this order. In prayer, a person’s mind and heart are lifted up towards God. However, when a person is anxious about many things, they are unable to enter into prayer because the worries begin to consume them. Consequently, God who ought to take the first place is now being trumped by other things. For this reason, in order to restore peace, the person ought to enter into prayer so that their mind and heart are not weighed down by troubles and sadness. Moreover, in prayer, the person enters into a deep intimacy with God whose goodness and charity bring joy and gladness to the soul. Without prayer, a soul leaves itself vulnerable to the assaults of the enemies both visible and invisible. This is why our Lord Jesus Christ commanded us to pray without ceasing so that we will always remain in God and God in us. May we remain steadfast and faithful to prayer at all times.

St. Mary’s Life Teen Prayer to the Archangel St. Raphael
Most perfect Archangel St. Raphael, ever standing before the throne of the Most High to praise Him, to bless Him, to glorify Him, and to serve Him, obtain for me the grace never to lose sight of the divine
presence, so that my thoughts, my words, and my works, may be directed always to the glory of God and to my own sanctification. St. Raphael watch over, protect, and strengthen St. Mary’s LifeTeen Program. Amen.
HAPPY 24TH ANNIVERSARY! Thanks be to God, today we celebrate 24 years of having a Life Teen Program, here at Saint Mary’s. Saint Ignatius of Loyola reminds us that “God will not be outdone in generosity”. Isn't that just one of the most beautiful truths!? He continues to work through this program and it is a gift to witness. Just last week, He brought us many new faces who joined us for their first Life Teen Mass and social night! We sat down together for dinner in the rectory and then played a few games of capture the flag which resulted in one of the Core members being pied in the face! Ask Vinny about what Fr. Wayne’s “pie” consisted of… This past Friday, we took a trip to Xtreme Craze where we played laser quest and jumped around in their inflatable park! Be sure to follow the Instagram account @saintmaryslt or ask me about joining our GroupMe chat. Last week, I informed you of the school subjects that your Core and I would be more than happy to offer help in! Here they are again… Math (Aline and Jamie), Theology (Olivia and Matthew), History (Vinny), Spanish (Elizabeth), and editing papers (Matthew). Feel free to shoot us a message in the GroupMe! Know that we are continuing to pray for you! This past Wednesday we celebrated Our Lady of Sorrows. If you have been following along with the seven sorrows these past couple of weeks, the next two you could choose to meditate on are Mary standing at the foot of the cross
(John 19: 25) and when she receives His Body (John 19: 38-42). I hope that you are able to carry the joy of today’s celebration with you into this new week! Feel free to reach out with any questions and/or prayer intentions!
