Congratulations to Cheyenne Davies-Family & Consumer Sciences and Savannah Marker-Business & Marketing. Good luck at Finals! *MMHS ProStart Team: Maple Mountain's ProStart culinary team is advancing to the State Finals on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at South Towne Expo Center in Sandy! As the name implies, this course is a "Professional Start" designed to train students for career opportunities in the food service/culinary arts industry. Culinary Teams develop a unique menu for a three-course meal, complete with recipes and food costs, and prepare that meal in 60 minutes using two butane burnerswith no electricity or running water. They are evaluated on their menu, degree of difficulty, food safety and sanitation, knife skills, cooking procedures, food costing, teamwork, taste and presentation of their meal. Go Golden Eagles! *MMHS DECA Club: Our MMHS DECA club attended the state competition last week. We had seven students attend the competition and all performed very well. A few highlights were: out of 250+ students both Savannah Marker and McKenzie Connelly tested in the top 10% in their testing subject, they also finished in the top ten in state competing in the "Business Law and Ethics" team event. Spencer Searcy finished third in state and qualified to attend the national competition in California, if he chooses to go.

*February is CTE Month! We have fabulous CTE programs at MMHS with over 35 different classes for students to choose from! We will be “spotlighting” CTE teachers at our school over the next few weeks, because we think they are pretty amazing! This year's CTE theme is: CTE: Rigor. Relevance. Skills. Jen Gardner: Jen Gardner graduated from Utah State University (Go AGGIES!) with her degree in Agricultural Education. She is on her second year of teaching and is loving it. She teaches Animal Science, Floriculture and Greenhouse Management, Natural Resources and Ag Biology. She loves all animals but especially loves all things hog related. She loves teaching hands on classes that give kids real applications of the world around them. She strives to teach skills that will help students be better prepared to be self-sufficient in their lives if the need arises. When she is not teaching in the classroom, chances are she is doing something FFA related. From activities, to service projects, stock shows and animals, to career contests, FFA sure keeps her hopping. It's a good thing she loves it!
