*Faculty, Students and Parents:
Spanish Fork City will be repaving (Doing roadwork) on 2550 E (The road east of the school from 4th North to

Thanks for your help in this matter and sorry for the inconvenience
MMHS Administration and Spanish Fork City
*Attendance Information: If your student is mistakenly marked absent or tardy in a
class, please have your student visit with the teacher of that class, as soon as possible,
requesting the teacher fix the attendance mistake. Mrs. Davis (attendance) cannot remove
or change something a teacher has marked, she only excuse their absence or tardy. If your
student is late to class, be sure they sign the Tardy Log in the classroom to ensure they are
only marked tardy and not absent.
*MEGA DETENTION: We will be holding Mega Detention for two consecutive Monday’s (Oct 16th and 23rd),
from 2-5pm, in Room C-207. Students need to pre-pay $5 in the finance office prior to this date to secure
their spot. Students will receive 5 hours of detention credit for serving 3 hours of detention. ALL students are
required to stay the full 3 hours to receive any detention credit!
*ACT Prep Class: Registration is currently open for students who are interested in taking an ACT prep class. The next class will be November 4 and 11 from 8:00 to 11:30 a.m. The cost of the class is $50 and includes a preparation book. Sign up in the Finance Office. The class will be limited to the first 36 students who sign up. See your Counselor if you have questions about the ACT or the prep class.
*Student Computer Use Agreements: We have noticed that some of our students do not have their Computer Use Agreements signed by a parent/guardian. Parents, please go into your student’s SIS account and sign this form to avoid your student being locked out of the school computers. If you have questions or need assistance with this, please call the school (801-794-6740) and ask for Michelle Richins, our computer technician, who is happy to help you. Thank you!
*School Lunch Information: Beginning on October 3rd, students/parents who have not reapplied for free
and reduced meals will start paying full price for lunch and breakfast. You may apply online at the Nebo
District website, or come to the school to apply.
*MMHS Volleyball: The volleyball team is putting donations together for our Thursday night breast cancer
awareness game against Provo. We invite everyone to come out and support the volleyball team as they
support those who have overcome and are overcoming their fight against breast cancer. We will be having a
dig meter, and are asking people to pledge anywhere from 25 cents to 1$ per dig that the varsity team gets
during their game. We will have a sign up at the door and we will collect money during the game for all this that
would like to participate. The foundation we are donating the money to is called National breast cancer
foundation. All those who donate will receive a pink breast cancer awareness wrist band. Thank you so much
for your support! See you all on Thursday at 6:30!
*Follow Mrs. Nielsen, our Principal, on Instagram: Our principal is on Instagram!! She would like to

searching for principal_nielsen or Principal DeAnn Nielsen.
*PSAT: There are still a few spots left to sign up to take the PSAT on Saturday, October 14. The

Merit Scholarship, the PSAT must be taken during the fall of your Junior year. The test will be limited
to 40 students, and the deadline to register is Friday, October 6th. The cost of the test is $20.00, paid

*Fight the New Drug: Dear Parents,
Fight the New Drug, a worldwide anti-pornography organization, is coming to Springville and Mapleton
on Oct. 3rd & 9th to give parent presentations to our community.
Fight the New Drug is a non-profit organization that has been featured by ABC Nightline, NBC, CNN, and
other major news outlets. Their non-religious, non-political, educational assemblies are purely science
and fact-based. Their assemblies are coming to every Jr. High and High School in Springville and Mapleton.
Parents are strongly encouraged to attend one of the parent presentations that are being held in
conjunction with the assemblies.
You can learn more about FTND at www.fightthenewdrug.org
At the parent meetings, Fight the New Drug will present all the information which will be given to the
students at the school assemblies, as well as additional information on how the pornography industry is
targeting children and teens, and what parents can do to better protect themselves and their families.
Attending the assemblies/parent presentations will also give you access to the online “Fortify” Fight the New
Drug pornography addiction recovery program.
Parent Meetings:

*MMHS PTSC Corner:
A big THANK YOU to all the parents who brought the delicious food for our teachers and staff during the parent-teacher conferences and who volunteered time to pass out report cards. Your contributions and help were so appreciated! Special thanks to Kari Hess and Nicole Peterson for organizing these opportunities.
Our “Fund the Flag” fundraiser is now in full swing! MMHS would love our help in purchasing a new flag for the gym. If you would like to help, consider joining the PTSC and 100% of your dues will go toward funding the new flag. Individual memberships are $5, family memberships are $10, or you can donate whatever amount you please.
In addition, the English class whose students have the most memberships and donations will win a pizza party courtesy of the PTSC. Please consider joining, upgrading, or donating today. This drive will continue until October 27th.
Registration forms can be found at our webpage: https://sites.google.com/view/maplemountainhighschoolptsc/fund-the-flag
