MMHS Eagle HighFLIGHTS: 4-25-16 *MMHS Students of the Month for April: Congratulations to the following students who were nominated by the Science Department as our April Students of the Month! Sophomores: Alisa Baadsgaard and Dawson Stokes; Juniors: Delaney Rose and Ethan Lilly; Seniors: Cheyenne Randquist and Eric Larsen. Congratulations to these amazing students!! *MMHS Science Olympiad Team: Just a good news moment from the Science Olympiad team this weekend. The team placed first overall for the second year in a row. The kids worked super hard (most of them were new to this), so this is quite the accomplishment. Science Olympiad is a catch all competition that includes events in science, math, technology, engineering, and even music and technical writing for some events. The team doing well is a reflection of our whole school, not just the science department - thank you for all of your support. Nationals is in a month from May 18th-22nd, just a heads up. *Early Out Day Change for Next School Year: Beginning next school year, the district has decided that early out day will be on Monday instead of Wednesday. As we receive more information on this from the district, we will pass on to you. Thank you! *Driver Education: Summer Driver Education dates are now posted on our school’s website http://mmhs.nebo.edu/DriversEd. Students may begin signing up on Tuesday, March 1st at the MMHS finance office. The fee is $100 and a student must have a learner permit before signing up. You must sign up for a class at the MMHS finance office during regular school hours. Online payment does NOT sign you up for a class. If you have any questions, e-mail the Driver Education Coordinator at [email protected].

*MMHS Dance Company: Please mark your calendars now. The end of year MMHS Dance Department Concert will be Friday, April 29th at 7:00pm. (Info flyer below) *MMHS SkillsUSA: Maple Mountain High School SkillsUSA club needs your help to send its Welding Fabrication Team and it's Chapter Display Team back to Louisville, KY for the National Competition. On April 1st We took first place at the state level and were invited back to compete among the top competitors in the country. In hopes to help with this cost we would like to invite you to sign up and bring in anything you need to have repaired or re-welded, or have a small project built. If you provide the material to fix your project, we will weld it back together for you. In return, we ask that you please donate money when your project is completed to help these boys make it back to Louisville. The 4th annual MMHS Welding Fix It Saturday will be held May 7th from 8am to 4pm. We ask that you please be generous in your donations, but the amount donated will be up to you. Please spread the word to friends and family, To set up a time or discuss your project needs, please contact MMHS welding instructor, Jared Massic ahead of time at: [email protected] or call him at 801 794 6740 ex 1530.

*Nebo Film Festival: The Nebo Film Festival will be held May 12th at 7:00 pm at The Spanish 8 Water

Garden Theatre. Admission is free ($2 suggested donation). The deadline for submissions is April 29th

at 3:00. The goal of the Nebo Film Festival is to promote the art and craft of filmmaking in the Nebo

School District. Any student grades 10-12 at one of the Nebo high schools is welcome to submit. There

is no fee for submission, and each student can submit up to 2 film projects and 1 poster. For more

*Spanish Fork Youth City Council Applications: Applications are available now in the front office for Spanish Fork Youth City Council! Spanish Fork Youth City Council is a wonderful opportunity to get experience in leadership and do hands on service for the community. This is a great way to get involved and serve your community and your peers! Whether you want to me a member or a chairman, this is a great experience you will not want to pass up! You must be a Spanish Fork resident, and in 9th, 10th, or 11th grade. *Magic Show: A Magic Show, starring Brad Burton, will be held on Wed, May 4th @ 7pm in the Payson High School

Auditorium. Free Admission!! Earn school detention credit for attending -- just pick-up a form at the Show and bring to our

attendance office for credit.
