MMHS JOB FAIR Wednesday, April 24 we will be hosting a job fair during lunch in the hallways by the library and counseling office. Over 15 employers will be here looking for student employees and seniors who are graduating. If your student is looking for a summer job, make sure they come prepared to speak to employers on Wednesday! In addition to these employers, we will have representatives from UVU, MTECH, ALC, cosmetology schools and the military here to talk to students. MMHS Spring Dance Concert The Maple Mountain Fine Arts Department is proud to present the 10th Annual Spring Dance Concert entitled "A DECADE OF DANCE Artistry in Movement". This concert will feature student choreography by both Dance Company and Dance Excel Members in addition to guest choreographers' Chelsea Budge, Alexa Knutzen, and Elise Barney. We have invited the alumni Dance Company also to perform in this special concert celebrating 10 years of dance excellence here at the Mountain. The newly selected MMDC team for 2019-2020 will also perform in addition to Dance 3, Social Dance 2, and the Dance 2 classes. Please come out and enjoy this landmark performance. MMHS Fine Arts are known for high caliber concerts and this will be no exception. We hope you can join us. General Admission $7, Student Admission $5, Family Admission $30. MMHS Welding Maple Mountain High school Welding Class is hosting its annual Fix it Saturday MAY 11th! The welding fabrication team won their 7th consecutive State Championship for SkillsUSA. The money raised here will help the team get back to the National contest in Lousiville, KY in June. On Previous Fix It days we have repaired or rebuilt trailers, sporting equipment, yard tools, Fire pits, gates, plus more. Anything that's metal we can try to help you from throwing it away. We have even built small projects that day. Let your friends and neighbors know about it. They pay for the metal and donate what they can. The shop will be closing down for the summer after this for clean up and new paint. Email [email protected] to set up a time or consultation on your project needs. SPORTS PHYSICALS I can't believe that we are almost finished with another great year. I am already looking ahead to the 2019-20 seasons and summer camps. As a reminder that to participate in a sport at MMHS at any time during the 2019-20 school year, your physical has to be dated on or after April 15, 2019 and will be valid unit Jul 15, 2020. If you are participating in a summer camp including scouting you are required to have a physical. We are hosting an evening for pre-participation physicals. It will be here at Maple Mountain High School on Wednesday, May 29th, from 5:00-6:30 pm on campus in the athletes commons and gym (Physicians will be in attendance for these exams). This is for anyone who needs a physical for participation in athletics (including try-outs) or can be done for other things such as scout camps etc. The cost is $20.00 cash or check. These funds are a fundraiser for our sports medicine budget and helps us purchase necessary items to care for our athletes. Paperwork can be completed ahead of time and is available online at: registermyathlete.com or can be filled out at the time of the physical. If you want to also get the scouting forms fill out please bring a copy of that also. All athletes need to register on Register My Athlete to try-out for a sport. If you have any questions, please

ASPIRE TESTING FOR ALL SOPHOMORE STUDENTS

This information is being sent to ALL parents and students because regular classes will be held these days; juniors and seniors will go to regular classes - on the adjusted schedule found below.

During the week of Tuesday, April 23rd- Friday, April 26th all of our sophomore students will be taking the ACT Aspire Exams in their core classes. This test is a hybrid of the ACT and Utah State Core and will give them a predictive score in preparation for taking the ACT next year. Each section of the test will be taken in their English, Math, and Science classes over the course of these four days. Like the ACT the test is timed and once a student starts each section of the test it must be finished in that sitting. They can’t leave early and come back and finish the section at a later time. We ask for your help in encouraging your student to be on time to all of their classes and to give their best effort on these exams.

The ACT Aspire Exam will be administered online like the ACT. Students are all required to have a set of headphones to use during testing. If your student has headphones with a standard jack to plug into the Chromebook they are using to test, they are welcome to bring them. We will have extra sets on hand for those students who don’t have them.

Because two of the test sections, Reading and Math, are both 90 minutes long we will be on a modified bell schedule during these four days of testing. Each day, two class periods will be extended to 110 minutes long and the other two class periods will each be 60 minutes long.
