� Discipline—An Expression of Jehovah’s Love

Discipline relates mainly to instruction and education, butit also includes correction and chastisement. Jehovahdisciplines us so that we may worship him acceptably. (Ro12:1; Heb 12:10, 11) At times, discipline may be painful, butit leads to righteousness and blessings. (Pr 10:7) Whatshould those who give discipline and those who receive itkeep in mind?

The giver. Elders, parents, and others try hard to givediscipline with kindness and love as Jehovah does. (Jer46:28) Even strong discipline should be given accordingto the need and motivated by love.—Tit 1:13.

The receiver. Whatever form discipline takes, we shouldnot reject it but try to apply it immediately. (Pr 3:11, 12)As imperfect humans, we all need discipline, which comesin various forms. We may be disciplined by what we readin the Bible or hear at congregation meetings. Or at timessome need discipline from a judicial committee. Heedingdiscipline ultimately leads to life.—Pr 10:17.

Enthusiasm is contagious. It can capture theattention of our listeners. It also shows that wevalue our message. Regardless of our culturalbackground or personality, we can cultivateenthusiasm. (Ro 12:11) How?

First, think about the importance of your mes-sage. You have the privilege to “declare goodnews of good things!” (Ro 10:15) Second,meditate on the positive effect that the goodnews can have on your listeners.
