Theme: “LIVE THE ANIMO THROUGH FAITH, SERVICE AND COMMUNION”
Reading: Now the time came for Elizabeth to be delivered, and she gave birth to a son. And her neighbors and kinsfolk heard that the Lord had shown great mercy to her, and they rejoiced with her. And on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they would have named him Zechariah after his father, but his mother said, "Not so; he shall be called John." And they said to her, "None of your kindred is called by this name." And they made signs to his father, inquiring what he would have him called. And he asked for a writing tablet, and wrote, "His name is John." And they all mar-veled. And immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue loosed, and he spoke, blessing God. And fear came on all their neighbors. And all these things were talked about through all the hill country of Judea; and all who heard them laid them up in their hearts, saying, "What then will this child be?" For the hand of the Lord was with him. And the child grew and became strong in spirit, and he was in the wilderness till the day of his manifestation to Israel.
Reflection: What is the significance of John the Baptist and his message for our lives? When God acts to save us he graciously fills us with his Holy Spirit and makes our faith come "alive" to his promises. Each and every day the Lord is ready to renew us in faith, hope, and love. Like John the Baptist, the Lord invites each of us to make our life a free-will offering to God. God wants to fill us with his glory all the days of our lives, from birth through death. He wants us to promote and nurture the culture of helping in our classroom, work areas, family and community. Renew the offering of your life to God and give him
thanks for his mercy and favor towards you.
Prayer: "Lord Jesus, you bring hope and salvation to a world lost in sin, despair, and suffering. Let your grace refresh and restore your people today in the hope and joy of your great victory over sin and death."

Lasallian Core Value: FAITH
Graduate Attribute: Christian Gentleman De La Salle believed God to be a loving and gracious God. It was this deep faith in God’s goodness, nurtured by a life of prayer that led De La Salle to commit to the education of young people. If faith in God had not sustained him, De La Salle would have abandoned this work, for which he felt no initial attraction. If faith in God had not been his motive, he would not have endured the many trials and humiliations that came his way. Clearly then, De La Salle undertook this work because he believed it to be an invitation from God.
And so, De La Salle often counseled his Brothers to do all things in view of God. He writes: The Spirit of this Institute is first a spirit of Faith, which should induce those who compose it not to look on anything but with the eyes of faith, not to do anything but in view of God, and to attribute all to God, always entering into these sentiments of Job: “the Lord gave and the Lord has taken away: as it pleases the Lord, so be it done.” (Rule) Thus, to speak of the Lasallian as a Christian Gentleman is not to conjure up the image of the prim and proper Victorian Gentleman. The Lasallian as Christian Gentleman is rather one, whose motives are animated by a deep faith in God’s love and goodness. His actions towards others demonstrate this faith. It is the experience and conviction of the goodness of God that compels him to love others in return. It is the love of God that motivates all his actions and choices.

1. WHAT IS THE FMSM?
The acronym FMSM stands for “Feed My Sheep Movement.” This movement
was born because of the inspiring letter of a high school student last SY 2014-
2015. In his letter to the High School Principal, he revealed that: “My father has
a sweet potato (kamote) plantation in northern Mindanao…and I have asked him
to provide us with thirty thousand (30,000) kilograms of quality sweet potatoes
colored violet and orange which we can in turn give to the poor and needy.”
This is a quotation from the letter of the student, who after reflecting on the
Gospel passage of John 21:17, was inspired to start “a movement” to feed the
hungry.
2. HOW IS LSGH INVOLVED IN FMSM?
The student wished his identity to remain unknown. His letter however was passed on to the Lasallian Mission
Office, and after a number of meetings, the boy’s dream was planned to be realized. On February 26, 2015, ten
thousand (10,000) kilograms of sweet potatoes (camote) were delivered to LSGH to start the “Feed My Sheep
Movement” (FMSM). The boy’s desire to start a movement has inspired the whole LSGH community to help:
students, teachers, administrators, parents and alumni. A business plan was formulated so that the movement
becomes sustainable and self-supporting. Commitments and pledges were gathered and the LSGH community was
challenged to join the movement and carry it beyond the original 30,000 kilograms. With the 20,000 kilos initially
shipped from Mindanao, LSGH was able to feed thousands of hungry children and old folks in fourteen
communities and institutions around Metro Manila.
3. HOW CAN YOU PARTICIPATE?
We are calling on students, pupils, teachers, and personnel of LSGH to
join the FMSM by becoming White Card Holders! We need 600
committed people to sustain the movement by pledging to do two
things:
1) Learn about the health benefits of camote and to have it as part of
his/her meal or diet at least once a week;
2) Support FMSM by buying/selling 5 kg (Php 250.00) every shipment
or once a month. You will be issued a membership card with your
name on it (see sample).
The White Card Membership becomes your concrete action of
responding actively to the Lord’s call when He said in John 21:17
“Simon, do you love me…feed my sheep.”
4. WHEN IS THE NEXT SHIPMENT?
The next shipment of 10,000 kilos of sweet potatoes is set on July 20-24, 2015 during the Lasallian Mission Week
Celebration. If you are already a member, once again thank you for keeping the FMSM alive!
