Celebrity beach bag

We sneak a peek into the suitcase of Elodie Loudon, Director of International beachwear label, Juliet Dunn. Elodie is off to the

Caribbean and here’s what she’s taking…

This week, we’re having a rummage in Elodie Loudon’s beach bag before she jets off to sunnier climes. Running Juliet Dunn means that Elodie is often travelling to far flung places around the globe to source, produce and sell –thinking constantly about different exotic destinations is a large part her job (so looks like we’ve

got a lot in common). The ethos of the brand is that it is summer somewhere all year round, so she has an enviable job of chasing the sun and her suitcase is never far from the front door. We find out what outfits will see Elodie through her week of luxury island living in Aruba…

“Juliet Dunn is a delicious recipe of sun-drenched glamour and global bohemia in which beach life is a key ingredient. I tend to err towards the flirty, flimsy and bright, so these petrol and pink palm “dungareenis” are definitely coming with me! I also love our Jimi Hendrix inspired bow dress with shoulder ties and a mad pink madras check.”

“Caribbean sand is the glossy postcard ideal of a holiday and Aruba is a true gem. On this little salsa island I can choose to go slow or go glam - and as they say in the local dialect everything is Hopi Bon (Happy Good)! Sunset is the time for a quick change in your room or you’ll miss the view; I usually unroll a silk jumpsuit with an ultra-low back and put it over my bikini. Otherwise, a maxi kaftan in the softest silk and most vibrant colours.”

“Often a bohemian beach style isn’t the scene so for poolside, where I want to dial up the daytime glamour a bit. To channel a more luxe look I’ll be wearing a long sleeved neon embroidered dress, with jewellery and sunglasses. Bold accessories help to embellish, enhance and personalise your look (right down to the Hermes towel!)”.

“When I think of yachts, I think of billowing white sails. My essentials would be a white, oversized shirt, kaftan or one of our little camisole dresses, detailed with scallop hems and mirrors to catch the light and reflect off the water.”

Happy FeetThe beaches are so incredibly beautiful in Aruba; it would be such a shame to walk along the

coastline wearing those boring (albeit sturdy) pair of flip flops that we all seem to drag out of storage every year (go on, admit it, we’ve all got an emergency pair that never seem to break). So here at Beach Tomato, we’re making a stand. Aruba deserves more. Aruba deserves brand

new footwear. And this is our edit on the most beautiful treats for your feet. See, we’re always here to help you stay one step ahead (pun absolutely intended). Enjoy.

Ensure your feet fit in with the vibrancy of the Caribbean by donning a pair of these super-bright sandals. Whether you’re lounging on the beach or adding a splash of colour to your eveningwear, you’ll never go unnoticed when you’ve got these on. And who wants to go unnoticed?

Day Glow

In Aruba, the sun never stops shining; the waves never stop glistening, and the white sand? Well, it’s so bright you’ll be scrambling for those sunnies. And we’re only sliding the brightness up further with this selection of metallic wonders. Add a pair of these to your wardrobe and you’ll be sparkling from all angles.

Time To Shine

In a respectful nod to the incredible white sands of Aruba, this collection will have your feet blending into the dunes nicely. Save these ones for the last few days of your trip; we all know how well white illuminates that tan you’ve been working hard all week for.

48 Hour suitcase

ArubaWherever we travel, we always make an effort to match our wardrobes to our final destination. Whilst this may seem a little extravagant, nothing can beat the feeling of being the best dressed guy or girl at the pool, on the beach or at the bar, right? So, with our next stop being Aruba, we figured this incredible little island deserved a Beach Tomato weekend wardrobe

feature. Home to white sands and azure seas so bright it’ll blind you for a second and oozing an undeniably laid back vibe, we think we’ve created the perfect Aruban inspired wardrobe here. Ladies, it’s time to trade in those stilettos for sandals and guys, no more suits and ties, it’s all about loafers and board shorts now. Welcome to the Caribbean.

Aruba’s fashionable

Hot SpotsSo we’ve given you enough tips to help you get your Caribbean glad rags sorted, but where’s best in Aruba to show them off? Luckily, this is one island that isn’t short of trendy bars and clubs, all perfect for strutting your stuff. Whether you’re donning a kaftan for a drink

on the beach or dressed to the nines to schmooze at a high-end martini bar, have a read of this guide to Aruba’s fashionable hot spots and you’ll know exactly where to go to be seen (and to check out the fashionista competition, of course).

The Blue Bar is actually a part of the luxurious Renaissance resort, so we’re already on to a winner here. Famed for its signature blue martinis, this place is often referred to as the social centre of the island, and with its modern design and excellent service, it’s not hard to see why. Mosey on down at sunset and sip on classic cocktails and blue martinis (you have to try them whilst you’re there) as the sun goes down. If you get peckish a little later on, the bar serves some great food, including sushi. Cocktails and sushi at sunset? We’re there.

Mooma Beach BarFor something a little more relaxed, there’s nowhere better than Moomba Beach Bar. It’s situated right on the sands of Eagle Beach, so dress down, grab a Tropical Treasure cocktail and kick back by the sea. For the ultimate beach party, pay a visit to Moomba on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday for live music and classic beach vibes. Oh, and there’s also a happy hour every day between six and seven PM. Who doesn’t love happy hour?

The Lounge Midnight GrillMinimalist, sleek, modern, chic. These are all words we love. And these are all words that can be used to describe The Lounge Midnight Grill. The décor is subtle and soothing and the food and drinks on offer world-class. But the thing that makes this place truly unique, however, is the fact that it doesn’t open its doors until 11pm, nor close them until 6am. That’s right. You can order dinner, or breakfast for that matter, at 2, 3, 4, even 5am should you wish to. One thing’s for sure, if you end up here, you’re in for a long night.

The perfect place to lounge in style, Cilo boasts a chic outdoor terrace where you can settle down and enjoy the Marina views as you wait for your glass (or bottle) of wine or Caribbean cocktail to be served. They’ve recently added a Sunday brunch menu, so if you’re tired after a night partying at Moomba or the Midnight Grill, make yourself look pretty and feast on eggs, smoked salmon, Gouda cheese and fresh fruit. Hangover Sunday never looked so good.
