Chapter Activities
1. Outdoor activities
In April, we organized a spring outing in Beijing Baiwang Mountain.
2. Poster Contest
In May, we held the 2th Poster Contest. More than 10 works were submitted
to show their research. We invited some professors to judge the poster. Also
a lot of students of our department visited the contest.
3. SPIE Optics + Photonics 2014 and the 26th August Annual
SPIE Student Chapter Leadership Workshop in San Diego
In the summer, Zhanqiang Zhang attended the 2014 Optics + Photonics and
SPIE Student Chapter Leadership Workshop held by SPIE in San Diego, CA.
4. Visiting to Exposition
On 14th of October, our chapter members went to International Exhibition
Centre, and visited the 19th China International Lasers, Optoelectronics and
Photonics Exhibition (ILOPE2014) and Vision China 2014.
5. Experiencing the Magic World of Optics
In October, CNU SPIE Student Chapter conducted youth education activities
at the Xu beihong High School.
In addition, our members together with OSA SPIE Student Chapter members,
conducted another youth education activities at the Yong feng Primary
School on November.
6. Invited lecture
On 25th October, we had honor to invite Dr. Jinmin Li to give us a lecture
about the contents of the Nobel Prize in Physics in this year, who was the
winner of the National Technology Invention in 2014, the team leader of ‘863’
National Semiconductor Lighting, former director of Institute of
Semiconductors.
7. The annual symposium with other chapters
In December, we invited other chapters’ members to attend our annual
symposium, including Beijing Jiaotong University, Beijing Posts and
Telecommunication University, Beijing Institute of Technology Student
Chapter, Peking University, Tsinghua University and Institute of Physics. At
the symposium, the members from different Chapters did oral presentations,
and the members discussed the problems they were interested in.
Further Chapter Activities
1. Organize some outdoor activities to welcome the new members.
2. Invite some famous experts and professors to give lectures on photonics and
engineering optics.
Financial Information
CNU SPIE Student Chapter received an activity grant of $1700 from SPIE.
Due to the exchange rate, the total fund of 2014 was ¥10567.
