Today's Client Issues• Obesity and inactivity have been categorized by experts

such as the International Obesity Task Force (IOTF) as becoming a global epidemic and health care crisis

• Over 1/3 of the US population is obese, increasing numbers are experiencing musculoskeletal injuries due to decreased activity including back related issues and lower extremity hip and knee injuries. Globally, there are more than 1 billion overweight adults, at least 300 million of them obese.

• Inactivity, lifestyle and obesity related medical conditions are the major contributing factor to a reduced quality of life and premature death

• These US trends of obesity and inactivity are already being seen globally and will dramatically affect the International community over the next two decades. Obesity accounts for 2-6% of total health care costs in several developed countries; some estimates put the figure as high as 7%.

• By 2030, obesity will be the Number 1 killer of poor people around the world, the World Health Organization says

Page 12: Humansport Overview Brazil 2009

Today’s Client Needs• Clients today live and work in environments that are

much less active than in previous decades

• Automation, innovation, entertainment and numerous other factors are contributing to the more sedentary lifestyles of our clients

• More than ever, a functional integrated approach to training is critical to the overall success of our clients

• Often, the only primary physical activities that our clients engage in are the hours they spend in our facilities

• In a recent survey of over 200 Personal Trainers 100% stated that they had clients who were only active when participating in a session 2 to 3 times per week

• Our facility clients and members are working up to 1/3 more hours and are less active outside the club than ever before in the history of our industry

Page 13: Humansport Overview Brazil 2009

Today's Member• Designing a balanced 3-Dimensional exercise program

is essential for the achievement of individual fitness goals and overall quality of life

• Movement in all three plans of motion - front to back (Sagittal Plane), side to side (Frontal Plane) and in rotation (Transverse Plane) are essential and can be utilized to enhance any fitness, rehabilitation or performance goal

• 3-Dimensional strength training can improve your client’s overall strength, posture, balance, flexibility, stability, and coordination, leading to efficiency in movement, both in and out of the gym

• Clients today have very specific fitness needs including medical, cosmetic, performance and general fitness

• More than ever, trainers must identify the core goals and needs of these clients and design a program that improves and enhances movement and overall function

Page 14: Humansport Overview Brazil 2009

Why Functional, Integrated Training?• Everyday function is integrated and

multidimensional, not isolated

• Traditional exercises have focused on training isolated regions of the body, often utilizing single, fixed planes of motion

• Traditional training often focuses on Sagittal plane training only

Chest Press Shoulder Press

Row Lat Pull Down

Leg Extension Leg Press

Leg Curl Bicep Curl

Page 15: Humansport Overview Brazil 2009

Why Functional, Integrated Training?

• Functional, integrated strength training programs enhance:– Total body strength– Postural strength and endurance– Asymmetrical strength– Overall power and force production– Dynamic flexibility– Balance– Coordination– Reduction of neurological, connective

tissue and musculotendinous fatigue– Strength which enhances everyday

activities– Functional core development, which

leads to all specific goals

Page 16: Humansport Overview Brazil 2009

Your members are ready!• Consumers have been shown the facts

• Functional integrated training has permeated mainstream media

• Your training staff is ready they may just lack the tools

Page 17: Humansport Overview Brazil 2009

Why Cable Based Training for Weight Loss?

Greater Variety of Functional Movements

• Not dependent on direction of gravity• Easy to change center of gravity• Easy to switch movements

Fits All Users• Easy to accommodate restricted

movement patterns

Safety• No spotter necessary

The HUMANSPORT™ Solution

Page 19: Humansport Overview Brazil 2009

The HUMANSPORT™ Solution

• HumanSport is the only Dual Functional Training equipment featuring two intuitive training stations combined into one machine. Often Functional Training tools lack simplicity that new and intermediate members require to realize the benefits of cable based training

• HumanSport is designed to allow resistance training movements in the seated isolated position, seated unstable position and standing position for unlimited training options. Often, competitive products do not provide the cable travel necessary to allow for unstable or standing movement

• HumanSport features two weight stacks on each machine which means two users can occupy one machine for several exercises. Competitive products often have a single unit with a single stack - limiting utilization to one participant and requiring much more space for the same variety of exercises

Page 20: Humansport Overview Brazil 2009

The HUMANSPORT™ Solution

HumanSport is the most aesthetically pleasing and approachable functional training product on the market today

•Design combines the strength of steel, the softness of fabric and the warmth of

natural wood or the urban feel of the black and grey•Each unit features intuitive easy to understand instructional placards•Low profile weight stack tower is inviting vs. intimidating

The HumanSport Dual Functional Training technology combines 12 intuitive machines into 6 space efficient cost effective stations

•Maximum training options in a space efficient design – 50% less space than required by the competition•Total functional training solution at significantly lower price point than competitive products

Cable Based Training: Key Phrases

• Key phrases to use when describing or training members on HumanSport to demonstrate and explain the benefits

• “Life happens in 3DLife happens in 3D – all movements in day to day life including home, work, and sports activities happen in three planes of motion, forward and back, side to side and in rotation and your training program must include a 3D approach”

• “Isolated single plane strength training is an important component to any fitness program especially for aesthetics and hypertrophy goals – but everyone benefits from functional integrated trainingintegrated training by enhancing their core strength, total body power and strength, balance, coordination and enhanced aerobic capacity”

• “Cable-based functional training is the ideal tool for achieving almost any achieving almost any goalgoal. This tool allows for isolation training, stabilization core training and dynamic movement - total body training.

• “Cable-based functional training can be used for body building, rehabilitation, sports performance, weight loss and specialty programs. It can bridge the bridge the gapgap between traditional strength training and cardiovascular training to achieve any desired goal”

The HUMANSPORT™ Science

Page 23: Humansport Overview Brazil 2009

Why Integrated Circuit Training for Weight Loss?

1. More muscle tissue involvement Integrated circuit training allows for greater involvement of stabilizer muscles for all

joints involved in an exercise. As exercises progress from base strength movements with maximum external support to core stability and dynamic movements with little to no external support, a much higher number of stabilizers must be involved. This results in greater muscle tissue involvement, which means greater caloric expenditure.

2. Low rest interval Integrated circuit training places emphasis on different muscles from set to set,

allowing moderate to full recovery of those muscles before the circuit repeats. When this is combined with a low rest interval, higher heart rates are achieved consistently through the circuit, even during the rest period. This can result in a positive cardiovascular effect.

3. High intensity

High training loads will result in more force production from a greater number of muscle motor units. More motor units activated means more calories burned during the workout.

The use of high training loads can also create an “after burn” effect, also known as EPOC (Excess Post-exercise Oxygen Consumption). This results in more calories burned after the workout.

4. Movement based Integrated circuit training exercises are based on natural human movement. It mimics

the type of movements that we perform on a regular basis in a resisted environment. Movement based training teaches the body how to move more effectively. This results in greater carry over to every day activity as well as decreasing risk for injury.

The HumanSport™ Solution

5. Stable, Unstable, and Dynamic

Exercises performed on seat + back pad = maximum stability Exercises performed on seat without back pad = unstable environment with

higher core involvement Exercises performed off seat without back pad = dynamic environment with

maximum muscular involvement

6. Fits and challenges all body types

Male, Female, Tall, Short, Big, Small, and everyone in between

7. Easy to Use = Easy to Teach Intuitive cable pulley placement and handles, makes it easy to understand how

to perform basic exercises with very little instruction

Club Owner Benefits of Weight Loss Programming

• Personal Training Revenue 1/3 the price of personal training is average price to charge for a group weight loss program.

Average class sizes range from 2-6 participants. With a HumanSport circuit, a single personal trainer can comfortably train 8-16 participants at once, generating up to 5 times more revenue per hour than a private 1 on 1 training session.

• Member LoyaltyAffordable prices, measurable results, increased motivation in a peer environment, and overall satisfaction leads to greater consistency and gym loyalty. Most participants of a small training group typically continue to sign up for more small group training packages

• Marketable Success StoriesSuccessful, satisfied, and motivated participants can be a club’s most valuable marketing tool. As walking billboards, their own success advertises the group class value better than any advertisement. Satisfied participants want to get others involved. Word of mouth marketing is a wonderful side effect of satisfied clients. A club can quickly collect a large number of success stories and testimonials with weight loss programming.
