Extronics Advance solutions can combine RTLS and zone mapping technology, using the same software and hardware to
deliver better accuracy, value for money, and scalability.
Real time location system, or RTLS
Uses triangulation to locate the exact
position of tagged personnel
Smart, Safe & Connected 14
Zone mapping or choke point system
Knows in which zone a particular person is by
controlling all entry and exit points for each zone
Exciter-based
Tag messages picked up by access points or exciters
with built-in tag receivers
Smart, Safe & Connected 15
How does RTLS work ?RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) varies at each Access Point,
hence personnel location is achieved by triangulation
Smart, Safe & Connected 16
How does zone mapping work?
Exciter floods an area with 125 KHz RF field
configurable between 0.5-6.5 meters radius
Once a tag enters the exciter field, the tag will
be forced to send a signal carrying both the tag
and the exciter IDs
This message is received receiver(s) near by,
and the signal is sent to MobileView software
The software knows the location of the exciter
on the map and will place the asset/tag next to
that location
Smart, Safe & Connected 17
Entry/exit and direction of travel
The software knows which excited message is received first, and
thus the direction in which the tag is travelling
A B
Smart, Safe & Connected 18
Muster points
The excited tag’s message is picked up by an access point or exciter with tag receiver
Smart, Safe & Connected 19
