For this month’s issue, we’ve caught the travel bug. This bug is getting us the itch to travel out of our comfort zones and explore the opportunities that awaits us. “People never learn anything by being told, they have to find out for them-selves.” – Paulo Coelho.

So, let’s travel this month. Get out of the norm and experi-ence life in another country. Coming from a Khmerican (Cambodian American) my-self, I have to say that being able to live in America and coming out to Cambodia has played a humongous part in my life. I have learned so much from the people out here but most importantly, I have learned a lot about myself. So in this issue, let’s get out there and adventure!

វតតគហនគរជាបេេសទបរាណតេវបានសងសង ឡើងនៅសតវតេសរទ១១ កនងរជជកាល ពេះបាទ ជយវរមនទ១(១០០២-១០៥០)ដេលសថតកនងខេតត កពងធ បេហេលជា៩៦គឡមេតេពរាជធន ភនពេញ។ អនកទសេសនាអាចធវើដណើរតាមផលវជាត លេខ៦ បទឆវេងតាមកោលេងទាវេរចលវតតគហនគរ។

បេេសទមយនេះតេវបានកសងឡើងដោយថម បាយកេៀម នងថមភកលើគេះដេលបានរកេសាទក យាេងរងមា២០០មេតេការេ នងពទធជវញដោយ កពេងថមភកដធកមពស៣មេតេ។ បេេសទនេះគ បេរទៅទសខាងកើត ដេលរចនាបទមសេដៀងគនេ នងបេេសទទនលេបាទ។Wat Kuhak Nokor (Kampong Thom)Kuhak Nokor is an 11th century temple, built in the reign of King Suryavarman I (1002-1050), which is located in Kampong Thom province, about 96km from Phnom Penh. Visitors can be easily reached the temple from the nation road no.6, turn left through an entrance of a Buddhist pagoda ‘Wat Kuhak Nokor’.

The temple is made of laterite and dec-orated with sandstone lintel, fronton, and pillars. The temple is surrounded by the rectangular 3 meters high wall in the length of 45 m and 35 m wide. The temple faces east which the style is similar to the Tonlé Bati temple.

Koh Thas is a new island resort created in early 2009, located in Bachin Chien Commune in Kravanh District. To visit Koh Thas from Pursat, you must travel five minutes west along National Road 5 heading towards Battambang until you see a large white entrance gate for Oknha Klang Meung historical shrine on the left hand side.To access the island you must cross a narrow suspension bridge that hangs above the Pursat River. When on the island, there are many small huts with straw roofs where you can relax and eat a variety of traditional Khmer food. You not only can swim or rent a pedal boat shaped like a duck or a swan, but also strap yourself into a harness and glide along a cable cord that hangs. Koh Thas is a wonderful place to relax.

មននងទៅដលលើកោះ អនកតេវឆលងកាតសពេនតចមយ កាតទនលេពោធសត។ នៅលើកោះ មានខទមតចៗជាចេើនជាមយនងដបលសេបវ ដេលអនកអាចលហេ កាយ នងបរភោគអាហារបេពេណខមេរសមេបរបេប។ ភញៀវទេសចរមនតេមតេ អាចហេរទក ឬជលទាទកកសនតបណណេះទេ តេថេមទាងជះរតខេសេកាបទៀត ផង។ កោះថាសគជាកនលេងអសចេរេយមយ ដើមេបលហេកាយ។

សហគមនអេកទេសចរណអរឬសេសកណាដេល តេវបានបងកើតឡើងកនងឆនេ២០០៧ កេេមការ គទេពអងគការបរសថេនកេេរដាឋេភបាលឈមេះ «មលបបេតង»។ សហគមននេះមានភមមយ គត ដេលមាន៤៤៦គេសរ។ អរឬសេសកណាដេល គមានទតាងនៅកនងខេតតសទងតេេងសថតនៅ ចមាងេយបេមាណ២៨គ.ម ពទរមខេតត តាមបណដេយផលវជាតលេខ៧។

អនកអាចងតទកធមមជាតកនងអរទាង៦កនងតបន ឬដើរលេងតាមតបនពេេធមមជាត។ ការដើរពេេ ឬជះកង កនងតបនពេេសហគមន ដើមេបបានឃើញដើមឈើសបរបេប នងសតវពេេដច ជាកាតេនជេកពេេ នងបកេសាបកេសជាដើម។ នៅតាមផលវ អនកអាចសវេងរកខទមឈើ ដេលសកសម ឥតខចេះសមេេបអាហារពចនច។ អនកអាចជបជាមយអនកភម នងទទលបានបទពសោធននេវបេបធមខមេរ រមទាងអាហារកនងតបន។

O’Russey Kandal (Stung Treng)The O'Russey Kandal Community-Based Ecotourism Site was established in 2007 with the help of the environmental NGO 'Mlup Baitong'. In total 446 fami-lies live in the community of O'Russey Kandal which consists of only one village. O'Reussey Kandal is located in Stung Treng Province, located approximately 28 kilometers (17 miles) south of the provincial town along National Road No. 7.

You can take a refreshing swim in one of the six streams in the area or let the mi-cro-rapids carry you along the woodland flow. Go trekking or cycling in the commu-nity forest to observe a great variety of trees and watch wildlife such as deer, wild pigs and birds. Along the path you can find wooden huts which are perfect for a pic-nic. Meet villagers and experience Khmer culture firsthand while tasting local food.

Virachey National Park (Ratanakiri)Virachey National Park covers an area of 3,325 square kilometers in Veun Sai and Taveng district which is about 60 km north of Banlung town in Ratanak Kiri province. The Virachey Park serves as the largest national park in Cambodia. In Virachey National Park, there are thousand-year-old trees, prairies, a hundred bird species including the Create Hornbill and Red-collared Wood-pecker, and other diverse wildlife species.

The vast forests, grasslands, mountains and valleys remain largely unexplored and undisturbed by human settlement and may still harbor new and undiscovered wildlife species. The northeast of Cambodia has been the home to many indigenous hill tribe people for centuries and remains a center for cultural diversity in the region. Virachey National Park was designated as an Asean Heritage Park in 2003 in recognition of its outstanding contribution to regional and international biodiversity conservation.

“I am always aware of my customers’ heart.” This is a meaningful speech of a genius tour guide which he always keeps in mind in or-der to satisfy his customers. As the result, he got a Tour Guide Award 2014 in Kuala Lum-pur, Malaysia. This man is CHAN SARETH, a tour guide at Hanuman Travel. With about one decade of experiences in his career, this 34-year-old guide always works hard to go through all the difficulties in life.

Graduated from Toul Tumpong High School in 1999, one of Sareth's worst period of his life. He failed all three entrance exams at three state universities. Though he was very dis-appointed at first, the struggling youth did not give up. Sareth still took time to study English part-time. Meanwhile, he started working in a Thai Dish Soap business. Later on, he decid-ed to create a small duck farm in his home in the suburb in Phnom Penh. This was how he began his new life.

With the profit from selling duck eggs, Sareth was finally able to pay for study in Hotel and Tourism Management at Asian University in 2002 which he had never wished to pursue before. “I always read and bought interesting books when free from the duck farm. I liked reading historic books the most which made me interested in Tourism.”

In the last year at university in 2005, he got an internship in tourism at Phnom Penh Hotel which then lead him to First Travel. Due to his good performance Sareth was promoted to be a fulltime tour guide in First Travel. After working there he then decided to work as a freelance tour guide from 2007 to 2012. Since 2012 until present, Sareth has been working as fulltime tour guide in Hanuman Travel. In his career as a tourist guide, Sareth always gets appreciation from his customers. As the result, he got a Certification of Appreciation as an Excellent Tourist Guide from an English Travel Agency, Audley Travel, which was hold in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in June, 2014.
