Boating without previous knowledge – home country regulationWhilst on most of the French waterways you can go boating without a boat driv-ing licence, Germany has a number of fairly specific rules:Rule 1: If you are required in your home country to have a licence to drive a boat then the same applies in Germany – i.e. you need a boat driving licence.
Rule 2: There are some areas where a licence is NOT needed (regardless of wheth-er a licence is required in your home coun-try) – these are indicated on the map below. Any boat that is in our fleet can be driven in these destinations without a licence.
Our bases Zeuthen and Brandenburg (Havel) are located in a “licence required” area (See Rule 1). However the areas that include South of Berlin and the lower Havel-Waterway do NOT require a licence. If you wish to cruise these areas and do NOT have a licence it is easy for us to place an instructor on board who drives you to licence free area next to our base. (Once again see Rule 1 for this area.)
Rule 3: On all German waters licence free cruising with boats up to 15 HP/11.03 kW: vetus 915, Febomobil, Traria und bellus. Except km 14,1 to 20,7 SOW.

Mecklenburg Lake DistrictOur main location for boating holidays is right in the centre of this paradise, on the southeast shore of the Müritz, Mecklenburg‘s largest lake. KUHNLE-TOURS is the biggest charter company in this region. Since the reunifi cation of Germany in 1990 you can explore these huge inland-waters by yourself: 2500 kilometers of rivers, lakes and canals are waiting for you. Practically untouched nature, cultural highlights and historic sights are there for you to enjoy. Life will seem almost perfect cruising through a land-scape overfl owing with wild fl owers and rare water-birds. You will pass one lake after another, each as beautiful as the last, but none the same. You will be served by a number of quays, harbours and marinas. The Mecklenburg Lake District consist of an area of well over 1000 lakes, most of them interconnected. The shores are covered with woods, meadows and moors, off ering together with the water a fantastic landscape for a relaxing holiday. We off er a large number of one-ways between our seven bases, some are detailed above.
KUHNLE-TOURS gives you the opportunity to experience the perfect boating holiday. We own more than 130 boats along Europe’s fi nest waterways. In Germany, our home waters are in and around the capital of Berlin, but we also of-fer various possibilities along the Baltic Sea. Bright yellow fi elds, dark green tree-lined roads and shimmering waterways: the lakes and rivers in Mecklenburg, Brandenburg and Berlin off er a splendid trip in one of the fi nest watersports region of Europe. Fishing is excellent, canoeing in the many little brooks brings much fun and other activities include shopping (Berlin and Potsdam), eating out (everywhere), watching the wildlife and (sun-)bathing.
Berlin and Brandenburg WaterwaysDiscover the heart of Berlin by boat: The Branden-burg Gate, symbol of the divided city, is only a few steps from the banks of the river Spree. Also the new and old buildings (e.g. the Reichstag) of the German government are located along the Spree. The 183 kilometers of city canals and rivers off er a wonder-ful opportunity to discover the unique appeal of the diff erent parts of town. In total there are twelve waterways, all connected with the surrounding ca-nals, rivers and lakes of Brandenburg. Leaving Berlin you can either head Southeast, where you cruise through a whole series of lakes connected by wind-ing river sections with an attractive boat-house at the end of each adjoining garden. Or you can travel Southwest, where the River Havel off ers plenty of good boating areas until you reach the waterways around Potsdam, where you can visit the beautiful palace of Sanssouci. Pass through the Glienicker Bridge where the Western world exchanged spies with the Soviets.
North of Berlin you can discover the ancient Finow Canal and the river Oder. Between our three bases around the capital there are various possibilities for cruises, oneways and even roundtrips.
Rügen and BoddenThe island of Rügen is known by various nicknames, one being „Riviera of the North“ another being the „Channel coast of the East“. The seemingly endless white beaches, the imperial baths with their great architecture of the late 19th century and the white cliff s are just on one side of the island. On the oth-er side, the inside waterways called „Bodden“ are a peaceful boating area with a wide variety of attrac-tions. Quiet bays and beaches, little fi shing villages with well-equipped harbours, smaller and bigger islands, nature parks and the big cities of the „Hanse“ with numerous things to explore. Our base in Stral-sund is right in the centre and very well-equipped. Oneways to the bases Zehdenick or Hafendorf Müritz are also possible.

Canal de la Marne au Rhin and SaarExpansive grain-fields, woods with plenty of game, picturesque villages and a number of reservoirs and lakes characterize these two canals. The main at-traction of a boating holiday in Alsace-Lorraine lies in the historic architecture of the canalside buildings and structures, including the huge lock of Réchicourt and the boat-lift of St. Louis-Arzviller. The 290 kilometers of the Canal de la Marne au Rhin connects the basin around Paris with the plain of the river Rhine. Navigating several locks it travels through the Vosge mountains and the Lorraine-Department. Our main base, Niderviller is situated at the top where there is a long section with no locks. After this highest point the canal runs through two tunnels and drops down again into the lovely Alsacien valley of the river Zorn and on to Lutzelbourg, a village famous for glass-blow-ing. Towering above the village is a castle dating back to the 12th century. Several locks further down is Sav-erne with its pretty old houses and busy little shops. The Canal de la Sarre leads from the Etang de Gon-drexange at the Canal de la Marne au Rhin to Sar-reguemines, situated about 80 kilometers further

Our fleet is located in Alsace-Lorraine, Franche Comté and Burgundy. The three rivers (Mosel, Saar and Saône) and numerous canals are fantastic to explore. Here we have meandering rivers intersecting with straight canal-sections. The route is diverse in that it runs through mountainous areas, vast fields of open countryside, and busy towns like Stras-bourg, Nancy, Metz, Trier or Gray. The rivers Mosel, Saar and Saône are characterised with quaint little wine villages and historic buildings. Cruising along these waterways is a real trip back in time and dining ashore is a culinary delight.
North. The lakes on either side offer great views with some great swimming. The canal winds down in three major curves until it gets into the Saar-valley. River Saar offers many places to see, among them the famous Saar Bow near Mettlach.
The wine region Mosel and SaarWhile passing wide green fields and industrial area on the French Mosel (here named Moselle) between Toul and Thionville, vineyards are the most forming character of the landscape further down the river. The French part of the river has only short canal sections. The cities, like Pont-à-Mousson and Metz have good mooring facilities within an easy stroll of beautiful old quarters. We highly recommend Metz which is a former bishops’ and imperial city and is well–known for its cathedral with its famous glass paintings and the new Centre Pompidou Metz. Thion-ville is great for night life containing many squares where you can enjoy the cafes, restaurants and bars whilst savouring the atmosphere. The castle town of Sierck-les-Bains is where the Mosel says goodbye to France. Remich and Grevenmacher are the major
cities on the Luxembourg Mosel. But also the small-er towns are worth a visit. Pass by Schengen, the place where Europe, as we know it today, has begun and Wormeldange, where you can go up the “Koep-pchen”, probably the most expensive vineyard in Luxembourg. Destinations like Trier with its Roman sites and the medieval town of Saarburg are common stages on a tour on these rivers.
River Saône and its canalsBetween St. Jean de Losne and Corre the Saône river has remained untouched. The river, here called Petite Saône, meanders through lush countryside; only a few loops were cut short by building shorter lock-canals. Wooded hills, green meadows and original villages on either side of the river make cruis-ing on the Saône exceptional. There are four major canals flowing into the Saone River: the Canal de la Marne a la Saône, the Canal du Rhone au Rhine, the Canal de Bourgogne and the Canal du Centre. These are joined by two rivers, the Doubs and further south the Seille. These numerous waterways combine to create an extraordinary region for boating holidays.

The Masurian LakesThe Great Masurian Lakes regions is legendary with its amazing scenery and over 3000 lakes, 25 of which are interconnected making it the ideal cruis-ing area. The lakes are nicknamed in Polish “sky eyes“ due to the stunning emerald and ultramarine colours generated when refl ecting the sky. Not only does the region off er the lakes but on land Mazury has beautiful quiet cobbled streets, ancient avenues and extensive natural birdlife with storks, sea eagles, cranes and bright canola fi elds, an unparalleled boating area. With our base in the south in Piaski we are nearby Ureinwohnersiedlung “Galindia” on Beldahnsee, where there are some amazing (and bizarre carvings) alternatively you are able to soak in the sprawling catacombs with a cold beer. Adjacent you have the 114 square kilometers of Lake Spirding (Jezioro Sniardwy) almost the same size as Müritz. Worth a visit are the adjacent lakes with their eerie silence, however for those wanting action then a high season visit to Nikolaiken (Mikolajki) the main town of the southern chain of lakes is consid-ered by some to be the Masurian Venice. A summer visit here reveals more boats than cars with a wa-terfront of restaurants, ice cream shops, small shops. To the north are the 104 square-kilometer Mauersee lakes, surrounded by dense mixed forests. The region has Lötzen ( Gizycko ) considered by many to be the capital of water sports. At the end of lake is the 19th Century swing bridge great attraction and also one withc has a practical job o regulating car and boat traffi c today. It is in thes region that you fi nd Marina Steinort, a good base for a trip back into history with a visit to the von Lehndorff family castle (Heinrich Graf von Lehndorff was executed for his involvement in the assassination attempt on Hitler in 1944). Of course for those after exercise then a bike rid to the the museum of Führerhauptquartier Wolf‘s Lair.???

Gdańsk Vistula and Elblag CanalNew for 2014 is a recently undiscovered cruising area. Nestling on the south coast of the Baltic Sea on the eastern side, near Gdansk is a freshwater la-goon. The lagoon is fed from a several rivers, notably the Elbing, Weichsle and the Nogat. With intercon-necting channels and canals and minimal locks the area is a boaters haven, easy cruising, stunning un-spoilt scenery and a huge cruising area with the various canals. On the historical side do not forget a visit to the ancient hanseatic city of Gdansk with its typical Baltic Architecture overlooking a sparkling new ma-rina. Of course there is also the main town of Malbork (Marienburg) which has a notably historic building on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites it also has a great museum. Our base in the town of Ebling is situated on the larg-est estuary in the Vistula Lagoon. The Elbing is pow-ered by a large lake area, with the individual lakes connected by the Elblag Canal with its spectacular ship a set of inclined planes, a masterpiece of 19th century hydraulic engineering, which even today (fol-lowing a thorough restoration) is in operation. The perfect boat for this cruising area is our Tjonger style boat.
The waterways of Poland enjoy a wide range of mooring facilities many of which have been developed following the EU accession in 2004. The region also enjoys easy access from the Gdansk and Warsaw airports with a good high-way leading to the two Polish cruising areas in addition the area has not only enjoyed a tourist boom but the infra-structure (locks and bridges etc) has been renovated in addition the region now enjoys many restaurants serving freshly prepared seasonal fare. Of great benefi t to tourists are the prices which is consistently lower than in France. For example a a three course meal in an upmarket restaurant complete with drinks will set you back just 25 euros.

Sloten
Friesland in Holland as an extensive waterway network with its sprawling lakes and beautiful harbour cities perfect are to use a Primus Kormoran.
Our base is Sneek – known as Frieslands water sports town. From Sneek you have easy access to the Fresian lakes with an extensive range of moorings, often in the pretty Dutch towns and villages. Starting from Sneek you have the “old water gate”, as well as the Fresian Maritime Museum .Leeuwarden has the old storehouse as well as its own historical city center, alongside is Sloten with its narrow streets and pretty town houses. Friesland as a region has always lived alongside the water enjoying long and lazy summers with an almost Mediterranean atmosphere.

Five Rundtörn Marinas (Round-Trip Marinas) – pay 1 x and moor 6 x!We have six marinas at which you can moor your boat, however you only have to pay once and you can then change when and as long as you want to – long term, short term or even just a weekend trip from Marina Müritz to our small marina near Mirow. Even our Marinas Niderviller (Tannenheim and Alt-mühle) in Alsace-Lorraine are included. Having moved it is completely up to you whether you stay for a night or for a couple of months – just tell the harbour master at your original marina for how long you are leaving and where you are going. There are no additional costs. All our marinas offer safe berths and a high standard of equipment. Electricity, fresh water and clean sanitary facilities are just a part of it. Most marinas additionally offer the possibility to fill with diesel and provide a waste water pump.

You may find our big marina directly at the historical city centre of the Hanseatic city Stralsund.
The Citymarina Stralsund: A berth right next to the famous Gorch Fock I? Or listening to an opera from your flybridge? A harbour in the shade of the historic brick-architecture of the Hansecities? Daytrips to the white beaches of Hiddensee? A week-end at the Störtebeker festival on Rügen? A his-toric old town to walk to? Well, all these possibilities are given at the Citymarina Stralsund. Within the marina itself all berths are equipped with electric-ity, fresh water and Wi-Fi. In our harbour building you will find sanitary facilities and our harbour office. Behind the swimming pontoon-building you will find a waste water pump.

Marina Niderviller/Tannenheim: Enjoy the freedom and a whiff of adventure in Alsace-Lorraine and look forward to your safe berth with full service.
The Minimarina Ferienpark Mirow is one of the best places to see a fascinating sundown while relaxing – it is just wonderful there. You only have to pass by and immediately you can enjoy the silence and the wonder of nature while sitting on your boat. The Minimarina Ferienpark Mirow is located in a little lake called Granzower Möschen. It is the last stopover of the Alten Fahrt that could be passed by motorboats without a special permission, so you are able to feel the silence. The wooden jetty is com-pletely equipped and a Wi-Fi Hotspot is installed. On the upper floor of our little harbour house we offer you a comfortable apartment. If you like to go on a short trip by boat feel free to rent one of our canoes, rowing boats or motorboats, which are placed there for visitors.
The Bootshaus Zeuthen at the Zeuthener See is the ideal point of departure for trips on the lakes, rivers and canals of Brandenburg, as well as trips through our capital Berlin with its more than 180 km long waterways. The closeness to Berlin makes this small port so attractive: Just one hour by car or train and you will already be on board. The berths at our jetty in Zeuthen offer a safe place for boats up to 13 m length and 4 m width. Electricity, fresh water, disposal of waste-water, as well as Wi-Fi Hotspots are available at every berth. Our team in Zeuthen offers you a professional service for your boats: preparation of the boat for the winter or the next season, repair works and main-tenance.
A high level of service and facilities is one of our main criteria If you are looking for comfort for your crew and best service for your boat, then our marinas will be just right for you. In total we offer five marinas in the cruising areas of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Brandenburg and Alsace-Lorraine. You may find our offers and services of each Round-trip Marina at a glance at the scheme on the right side.

The Marina Müritz: A safe harbour with all services for your boat and various possibilities for you to relax and enjoy the lovely area: The Marina Müritz lies at the south-easterly shore of the Müritz, Germany‘s largest lake. Sailors and skippers will find a very well equipped marina in an idyllic surrounding. Due to our new breakwater you will lie very calmly in our marina, even though the Müritz itself can get quite rough when the wind comes in from the North. The little canal leading from the Müritz to the Claas-see was enlarged and now offers excellent access to the marina. The Marina Müritz is part of the Hafendorf Müritz, a large holiday resort. Most fa-cilities have been built now: a beach, a small play ground, a beach-volleyball etc. are available. We also recommend a meal in our bistro Captain‘s Inn!

The industrial standards became known: This has resulted in more and more skippers coming to our Müritz shipyard with their boats and yachts not only for repairs and refits but also for adding new features and innovations.
Travellift and craneOur shipyard travellift is unique in the Mecklenburg Lake District. Our lift is able to carry boats, yachts and passenger boats weighing up to 90 tons. This high-tech-steel-crane moves about silently and the operator is able to wirelessly control every corner of the hoist and can often be seen to be almost pirouet-ting the boats into position. In order to maximise the advantages of our lift we built a special marina ba-sin enabling the travellift to drive over the water-borne boat, lift it and move the boat directly to the final position where the team caries out the shipyard work (or put the boat into winter storage). For small-er boats we offer a smaller pillar crane in the Müritz and Niderviller Marinas.
Service vehicle and recovery boatKuhnle Shipyard has a service and recovery boat. Our
When the Kuhnle Shipyard was founded, its objectives were simple; build good quality charter boats for the Meck-lenburg Lake District. Charterboats are used far in excess of your traditional “owner boat”, this meant that our boats had to be designed and built with longevity and quality in mind. In addition our shipyard has internal customers (our own charter company) and they are not only very demanding but they provide great feedback on how we are doing. When our boats leave our shipyard, they are rigorously inspected to ensure that all services and features are installed appropriately and to a good finish.
mobile boat-workshop can come and repair your boat or if needed the recovery boat can collect it. From April through October we have a 24/7 emergency number.
Engines and drive mechanismsWe have developed an advanced engineering work-shop that offers ideal conditions for the repair of engines and all associated systems including shafts, drive trains and generators. In addition to the engine testing basin we have high specification engineering lathes, engineering diagnostic systems to test rota-tional frequency, compression and ignition timings as well as a computer system for diagnosing electri-cal systems. Our yard can also check and fix dam-aged propellers and evaluate the most appropriate propeller for your hull and engine type, thus max-imising your hull and engine performance whilst reducing your fuel consumption. We also offer the specialist installation of hydraulic equipment for bow thrusters and propulsion systems. Our yard not only has the skills but also the tools that enable us to plan and install all the equipment needed. We will also replace the engine if you need a new one and repair the gearing if necessary.
Boat and marine electronicsOn most privately owned yachts the electronics are treated like the poor cousin, not only at construction but also during their service life. At Kuhnle Shipyard we do it differently. Our electronics are designed and installed to “industrial standards”. A great example is the control panel of one of our Aquinos or Kor-morans, no miscellaneous tangled wires but a neat and tidy wiring loom that follows a clear system that is easy to understand for everyone. Of course if there is still a problem, then glance at the extensive de-tailed circuit diagram. Frankly we are proud of our complex marine electrical installations which are known to be reliable and maintenance free. Not only do we install traditional electronics, we also install navigational and telecoms equipment as well as charging systems to enable you to be independent of shore supply. Sophisticated systems, like audio systems, echo sounder and fish finder are neither a problem. However the complex systems are often a safety risk. It is important to maintain these regu-larly. For the winters we have a battery storage room maximising the life of your batteries.

Be free and independent; conquer the world without sacrificing your creature comforts. All these dreams can come true with a purpose designed houseboat. Our Aquino- and Kormoran-boats with their large interior are the perfect home away from home, but on water. Both series are a perfect compromise with their spacious exterior and interior whilst ensuring that you can go anywhere and everywhere. The purpose built design ensures you can easily slip through nearly all European locks and bridges. And our boats are strong, easy to handle, simple to ser-vice and, most important of all, it is not as expensive as you may imagine.
Joinery and carpentryRegardless of complexity our joinery teams can do it, a new owners suite, repair the cockpit table or install a beautiful teak deck we have the ability. Not only do we use the best timber and other materials, we also have all the tools and skills that ensure you get a fabulous job first time. Also new upholstery or new flooring is possible.
GRP, osmosis repair & paintingOur paint shop (18m x 7m with a 4.5m high entrance gate) is dust-free and temperature regulated: It is equipped with a modern spray unit that not only adheres to modern environmental requirements but manages to enable the complicated process of paint-ing boats efficiently. Our yard specialises in the swift and careful application of coatings to new boats, repairs to existing and any other colour coatings above and below the waterline to all manner of boats. Our extensive experience enables us to advise you of the most appropriate antifouling. We also have modern water-based sandblasting equipment avail-able which ensures the removal of any colour and rust remains prevalent in GRP. We are able to rap-idly strip, repair and treat hull segments that show osmosis (small hull blisters often prevalent in older GRP boat hulls). Our employees are also specialized in the repair of hull/GRP fatigue cracks.
Welding technologyOur shipyard employs a number of extremely experi-enced certified welders that are skilled in most common welding processes. We are able to carry out large and
small projects on all manner of hulls or superstructures. We also produce rails and equipment racks.
LPGWe have a LPG team who is certified and is able to carry out the 2 year gas audit that is regulated. On completion of the audit our team supplies the new inspection plates. This covers you for a gas accident and ensures that your insurance cover is not at risk. Our team also replaces and installs general gas ap-pliances.
Marine sanitary systemsRegardless of the type of soil system you have or want installed: We know from personal experience the best installation method and/or equipment to use, let us advise you on your installation.
Heating systemMost yacht installed heating systems are generalised, however we can install and ensure a cabin specific heating system with our sophisticated hot water reservoir system supported by additional diesel heat-ing as and when needed. Hereby we will install ra-diators like the ones you have at home. They provide a constant heating and the possibility to regulate it separately in every cabin. Also available: Floor heat-ing and special bathroom radiators. The maintenance of the system is uncomplicated. Problems can eas-ily found with the help of a PC-software.
