Svila. Papir. Fotografija. Kolaž. Igla i konac. Crtež tušem i perom. Akvarel. Računarska štampa... Palata na Malti. Tapiserija - David i Vitsaveja. Alhemija. Le cadavre exquis…

Casa Rocca Piccola, palata, dom je plemićke porodice de Piro iz 16. veka. Blistava građevina čiji je poručilac bio uvaženi admiral Don Pietro la Rocca, u vreme kada su gradski oci La Valete stremili da grad svetli poput Pariza i Venecije. Bilo je retko zdanje sa sopstvenim vrtom. Godine 2000. obnovljen je izgled palate u prvobitnu jedinstvenu građevinu. Palata je opremljena nameštajem i umetničkim delima izrađenim na Malti i širom Evrope. Bili smo u njoj toplog junskog leta 2011. i uz pratnju vodiča pažljivo smo obišli svaki kutak, snimajući sve što se u hodu dalo snimiti i načuljenih ušiju upijajući priče koje nas neće ostaviti ravnodušnima.

Tapiserija „Priča o Davidu“ nastala je u Briselu, početkom XVI stoleća. Delo je čitava tri veka ležalo negde, sve dok nije otkupljeno od francuske države 1847. godine. Ali prvi put je javno izloženo tek 1971. u Parizu, u Gran Paleu, kada je ubrojeno među tri najlepše tapiserije svog vremena. Početkom osamdesetih godina XX veka konačno je smešteno u Muzej renesanse u zamku Ekuan. Tapiserija priča biblijsku priču o caru Davidu – car vidi lepu Vitsaveju kako se kupa, zaljubi se u nju, a zatim pošalje njenog muža – svog vojskovođu – namerno u rat da bi poginuo. Misleći o postojećim i nepostojećim tapiserijama iz ove kolekcije, uvodili smo ih u dijalog sa druga dva elementa našeg nastajućeg dela (Palata na Malti i alhemijski crteži)..

Alhemija. Zaboravljena, prokažena, potcenjena. Uvek prisutna. Nevidljiva u svojoj sveprisutnosti. Ilustracije iz alhemičarskih spisa zagonetne su kao i ti spisi. Zašifrovane poruke govore o zagonetnim odnosima između hemijskih elemenata, planeta, metala i pojedinih delova ljudskog tela, o razvoju čovekove ličnosti... Mada je reč o mističnim simbolima čije je tumačenje veoma teško i puno prepreka, čitajući te tekstove i posmatrajući crteže kojima su ti tekstovi propraćeni, mi osećamo, čak i ne razumevajući sasvim njihov smisao, da se radi o dubokim i uzbudljivim tajnama koje se tiču i naših života.

Le cadavre exquis jedna od omiljenih nadrealističkih igara. Može da se igra pisanjem ili crtanjem. U oba načina ono što je privlačilo nadrealiste ka ovoj igri je uloga slučaja čijim su posredstvom dobijeni veoma neočekivani rezultati, i ostvarivano prevazilaženje antinomije ozbiljno-

neozbiljno u umetničkom stvaranju. Mi smo je igrali na daljinu. Radeći u različitim prostorima, dolazili smo do neočekivanih rešenja koja su se slivala, u zajedničko delo.

Isprepletali su se motivi srednjevekovne tapiserije o Davidu i Vitsaveji, alhemičarski crteži i fotografski prikazi velelepnog višestoletnog doma malteške porodice iz La Valete. U svojim alhemijskim kuhinjama, najpre zasebno jedno od drugog, a onda u četiri ruke, tkali smo novu priču misleći na lepotu i rugobu, moć i nemoć, pravdu i nepravdu, okrutnost i nežnost, strast i ravnodušnost, greh i pokajanje, u mekoj svili vremena prošlih i vremena sadašnjeg.

Casa Rocca Piccola, a palace, home to the 16th-century noble family of de Piro. A splendid edifice built on the request of the honourable admiral Don Pietro la Rocca, at a time when the city’s fathers strived to make La Valletta glow like Paris and Venice. It was one of the rare edifices with its own garden. In 2000, the palace was renovated into the original remarkable building. The palace is equipped with furniture and artwork made in Malta and throughout Europe. We went to see it on a warm June day in 2011; in company of a guide we carefully explored each corner, recording everything that could be recorded on the move and, with our ears pricked up, soaking up stories that would not leave us indifferent.

The “Story of David” tapestry was created in Brussels, in the early 16th century. For three centuries it lay somewhere, until it was purchased by the French state in 1847. But it was publicly exposed for the first time in 1971 in Paris, at the Grand Palais when it was included among the three most beautiful tapestries of its time. At the beginning of the 1980s, it was finally placed at the National Museum of the Renaissance in the Castle of Ecouen. The tapestry tells the Biblical story of King David - the King sees the beautiful Bathsheba bathing, he falls in love with her and then sends her husband - his military commander - deliberately into war to die. Reflecting on the existing and non-existent tapestries from this collection, we introduced them into a dialogue with the other two elements of our emerging work (Palace on Malta and the alchemical drawings)…

Alchemy. Forgotten, denounced, underestimated. Always present. Invisible in its omnipresence. Illustrations from alchemical files are mysterious as are those writings. Encrypted messages tell us of the mysterious relationships between chemical elements, planets, metals and certain parts of the human body, about the development of human personality ... Although it is about mystical symbols, whose interpretation is very challenging and full of obstacles, while reading these texts and observing the drawings that accompany them we feel, even without really understanding their meaning, that it is about profound and exciting secrets that concern our lives, too.

Le cadavre exquis is one of the favourite surrealistic games. It can be played by writing or drawing. In both ways, what attracted surrealists to this game is the role of incidence by means of which highly unexpected

results were obtained and the overcoming of the antinomy serious-frivolous in artistic creation was achieved. We played this game on a distance. Working in different spaces, we reached unexpected solutions that flowed into a joint work.

The motifs of the David and Bathsheba medieval tapestry, alchemical drawings and photographic presentations of the magnificent centuries-old home of a Maltese family from La Valletta are intertwined. In our alchemical kitchens, first separately from each other and then with our four hands, we wove a new story reflecting on beauty and ugliness, power and weakness, justice and injustice, cruelty and tenderness, passion and indifference, sin and repentance, in the soft silk of the times past and the time of the present.

Vana Urošević

Rođena u Skoplju. Završila Fakultet likovnih umetnosti u Beogradu 1984. godine u klasi prof. Mladena Srbinovića, a 1987. je na istom fakultetu završila postdiplomske studije u klasi prof. Radomira Reljića. Studijski je boravila u Parizu tokom 1987. godine. Period 1988-1989. provela je na specijalističkim studijama na Akademiji lepih umetnosti u Veneciji u klasi prof. Borella. Od 2010. godine, pored samostalnog nastupa, realizuje i izlaže i zajedničke projekte sa Zoranom Todovićem.

Dobitnik je Nagrade Dimitar Kondovski na Zimskom salonu u Skoplju i Prve nagrade za rad „Alhemičarska kutija” na IX Međunarodnom bijenalu umetnosti minijature u Gornjem Milanovcu.

Godine 2003. predstavljala je Sjevernu Makedoniju na Venecijanskom bijenalu umjetnosti.

Izlagala je samostalno i grupno u Beogradu, Skoplju, Cetinju, Njujorku, Ljubljani, Veneciji, Bitolju, Strugi, Londonu, Taljinu, Rimu, Sarajevu, Beču, Čačku, Gornjem Milanovcu, Berlinu, Hamburgu, Parizu, Murskoj Soboti, Ženevi, Sofiji, Osnabriku... Član je Udruženja likovnih umetnika Sjeverne Makedonije od 1984. godine. Radi u Nacionalnoj galeriji Sjeverne Makedonije u Skoplju.

Vana Urosevic

She was born in Skopje. She graduated from the Belgrade Faculty of Fine Arts in 1984, under Professor Mladen Srbinovic and completed postgraduate studies in 1987 at the same Faculty under Professor Radomir Reljic. She was on a study stay in Paris (1987) and on a specialization at the Venice Academy of Fine Arts under Professor Borella (1988/89). Since 2010, beside independent performances, she has also carried out and exhibited in joint projects with Zoran Todovic.

She is winner of the Dimitar Kondovski award at the Skopje Winter Salon and of the First award for the work “Alchemical Box” at the 9th International Biennial of Miniature Art, Gornji Milanovac, Serbia.

She represented North Macedonia at the Venice Biennial of Art in 2003.

She has performed at solo and group exhibitions in Belgrade, Skopje, Cetinje, New York, Ljubljana, Venice, Bitola, Struga, London, Tallinn, Rome, Sarajevo, Vienna, Cacak, Gornji Milanovac, Berlin, Hamburg, Paris, Murska Sobota, Geneva, Sofia, Osnabruk ... She has been a member of the Association of Fine Artists of North Macedonia since 1984. She works at the National Gallery of North Macedonia in Skopje.

Zoran Todović

Rođen 1958. u Gornjem Milanovcu. Završio Fakultet primenjenih umetnosti u Beogradu u klasi prof. Božidara Džmerkovića 1983. godine. Postdiplomske studije završio 1985. na Fakultetu likovnih umetnosti u Beogradu u klasi prof. Miodraga Rogića. Studijski boravio u Parizu 1991. godine.

Dobitnik je više međunarodnih i domaćih nagrada i priznanja (Politikina nagrada, Gran pri Varna, Veliki pečat Grafičkog kolektiva, Nagrada Oktobarskog salona u Beogradu..)...

Izlagao je samostalno i grupno u Beogradu, Novom Sadu, Zagrebu, Rijeci, Ljubljani, Podgorici, Baru, Stokholmu, Ronebiju, Eskilstuni, Krakovu, Katovicama, Vroclavu, Frehenu, Berlinu, Kataniji, Bjeli, Kjotu, Vakajami, Osaki, Bopalu, Varni, Buenos Airesu, Kouvinu, Vervijeu, Ferolu, Mentonu, Parizu, Mastrihtu, Skoplju, Đeru, Miškolcu, Banskoj Bistrici, Solunu, Martinjiju... Od 2010. godine pored samostalnog nastupa, realizuje i izlaže i zajedničke projekte sa Vanom Urošević.

Član je Udruženja likovnih umetnika Srbije od 1984. godine. Redovni je profesor na Akademiji umetnosti Univerziteta u Novom Sadu.

Zoran Todovic

He was born in 1958 in Gornji Milanovac. He graduated from the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade under Professor Bozidar Dzmerkovic in 1983 and completed postgraduate studies in 1985 at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade under Professor Miodrag Rogic. He was on a study stay in Paris in 1991.

He has won several international and domestic awards and recognitions (Politika award, Gran Prix Varna, Graphic Collective Great Seal award, Belgrade October Salon award)...

He has performed at solo and group exhibitions in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Zagreb, Rijeka, Ljubljana, Podgorica, Bar, Stockholm, Ronneby, Eskilstuna, Krakow, Katowice, Wroclaw, Frechen, Berlin, Catania, Biella, Kyoto, Wakayama, Osaka, Bhopal, Varna, Buenos Aires, Couvin, Verviers, Ferol, Menton, Paris, Maastricht, Skopje, Gyor, Miskolc, Banska Bystrica, Thessaloniki, Martini ... Since 2010, beside independent performances, he has also carried out and exhibited in joint projects with Vana Urosevic.

He has been a member of the Association of Fine Artists of Serbia since 1984 and is a full-time professor at the Academy of Arts, University of Novi Sad.
