Development of the economy and market imposed the need of more efficient linking scientific research and the education system at all levels.
FACULTY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING AND COMPUTING
In more than 50 years of rich tradition two historical periods in the development and growing are clearly crystallized
• 1959. – 1990 • 1990. – to date
FACULTY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING - HISTORYAND COMPUTING
• 1959. – 1990.• characterized by undergraduate and advanced
graduate studies, and by preparation and defending a doctoral dissertations.
• 3 majors / production engineering, design, aviation /
• highly developed scientific research implemented through a variety of projects
FACULTY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING - HISTORYAND COMPUTING
• 1959. – 1990.
- close relationship of education, science and economy /Soko, Unis, Energoinvest, Igman, Industrija alata Trebinje i dr./;
/ around 30% of the income was realizedthrough the collaboration /;
– Faculty becomes the Production Engineering Center of BiH, an recognized international symposium organizer („PROMJER“) etc.
– /65 employees, the majority of teaching staff /– quality staff from industry were included in
HE activities
FACULTY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING - HISTORY
• 1990. – to date • three education cycles /
/undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate / and two directions /Construction Design and Production Engineering/.
• 2002 – initiated Study of Computing
FACULTY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING - HISTORYAND COMPUTING
– 2007. – 2011. – realized 36 projects, 7 dissertations defended and a lot
of master works;– significant recognition - together with the Faculty of
ME Sarajevo chosen on international call as the body responsible for drafting the Strategy of industrial development in FBiH
– become the holder of the QA activities at the University level and computerization of the process in all its segments
FACULTY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING - HISTORYAND COMPUTING
– give students professional knowledge to use them in the economy and to create competitive advantages
– enable students to govern scientific research methods in order to implement the new production philosophy
– enable students to independently do scientific research in order to develop new products
– But new economy is characterized by:• unstable turbulent market• complex and highly complex product• integrated production,• high environmental standards,• high expert knowledge;
FACULTY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING - GOALSAND COMPUTING
• become a modern, authoritative HEI included in common higher education area of Europe, which includes the willingness to exchange research results and to be the partner to companies.
• in real-time frame educate students ready for product design and modern production, which will increase the competitiveness of their knowledge in the global market.
FACULTY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING - VISIONAND COMPUTING
Mechanical engineering study - today
Acad. 2012./2013.
• 150 students enrolled on the first year of Mechanical Engineering
• Undergraduate: 4 majors on 3rd year / Construction Design, Production Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering and Menagement / 49 students
• Graduate:/ Construction Design / 14 students

Construction design
Involves the acquisition of theoretical and practical knowledge required to
• detailed static and dynamic analysis of structures,
• design of components and products,• methodical design, • implementation of modern technology (CAE /
CAD / CAM)
23
• The students become familiar with the methods of experimental stress and strain analysis, testing the dynamic characteristics of structures, machines and mechanisms, and motors and motor vehicles.Graduate can:
• work as a designer of machinery, structures, crans and elevators, motor vehicles, transportation equipment, and also
• do a maintenance and exploitation of machinery, and equipment
