Please be aware this is not a full return to normal schooling. We are re- quired to meet social distancing guidelines which recommend a maximum of 10 students in a classroom, so Year 3 students are divided between the two classrooms, and students are working as per their class timetable. Please be aware that learning at school, rather than at home is not compulsory however, it’s an opportunity for all our students and families based on our ability to meet Department of Edu- cation requirements while maintaining maximum support for our families. We appreciate the information from some families that are choosing to still learn from home for some of the week and learn at home packs will be prepared for those students. As we undertake this model of return to school please be aware we continue to receive daily updates from the Department of Education as CoVID19 is an emerging and ever-changing situa- tion. At all times the health and safety of our staff, students and community is central to all decision making. While we are able to offer these structures at this point in time please be aware that a change in circumstance within the Department of Edu- cation may require us to move to a different mode of operation at short notice. Please also remember not to socialise at the school gate- it’s just kiss and drop! Changes ahead As mentioned to the parents at last week’s meeting, sadly we will be saying goodbye to Mrs Binns at the end of the month. A combination of many unplanned factors and some time to consider the options over the holidays led to the decision that as been made. This year of change must be good for us as we are all getting adaptable! The ad went out last week for a new relieivng Principal and we will let you know as soon as we know the result. Newsletter is our main communication tool We would to stress again please that the newsletter each week is a vital tool of communication. We are back to printing every week now that we have students back at school and he news- letter goes home with the students each Thursday. Please ask your student for it, or check their bag on a Thursday! We also email it to those who have requested to be on our Looking fabulous at Wild Ryes Bakery

We are re-quired to meet social distancing guidelines which recommend a maximum of 10 students in a classroom, so Year 3 students are divided between the two classrooms, and students are working as per their class timetable.

Please be aware that learning at school, rather than at home is not compulsory however, it’s an opportunity for all our students and families based on our ability to meet Department of Edu-cation requirements while maintaining maximum support for our families. email list, and upload it too to our school website each week.

Please ensure that you read it each week- why not pop it up on your fridge for easy reference- as it often contains important infor-mation that we need families to know.

Virtual Book ClubToday was the deadline for any Book Club orders and all LOOP orders have been processed. Books will be delivered to school for distribution. Please let us know if you prefer to pick up rather than send home with your child.

Looking after each other when back at school• Please remember to pack a drink bottle for your child as the

bubblers are not in use

• please ensure your child is dressed warmly - jumpers and even beanies. We have one red school beanie for sale for $15.

• Please consider our staff and pack lunch that does NOT re-quire heating as this is not an option.

• Remember that lunch orders are not on still

• school banking will not resume until we have been notified

• please do not send your child to school if they are unwell

• students who are unwell at school will be sent home

• no additional non-essential visitors due to the department guidelines - unfortunately this means no volunteers

• music will not be returning until we are advised it is ok

Letter to SveaWe have parcelled up the three letters to Svea thanking her for her letter and easter treats, and we included a pack of artcards for her to enjoy. It’s wonderful to see letter writing happening.

There’s some great people to meet in the NSW Education Live stream. Even if you miss the 8.45am slot each day you can catch up on the website. This week it was Eddie Woo- the well known Maths teacher who shares his love of maths, and also involved has been Costa Georgiadis, Matt Preston and Gary Mehigan, Alan Tongue, Gracie Otto, Guy Sebastian and more. Great viewing!

StaffingThis week we welcomed casual teacher Ms McGann, assisting with the older class while Mrs Binns does some one on one assess-ment with the students. Mrs Macey is also back on Wednesday. Ms Wendy Kenyon will be at school every second Thursday now as well as the usual Monday and Friday.

CommunicationThank you all for letting us know your preferred method of com-munication for more direct immediate ommunications, as an ex-tra besides the newsletter. We will use this information to try and modify our individual communication to suit. We are considering a school app that would allow communications to go straight to the app (with a notification), and would also have the option for parents to submit an absence note via the app, and even sign permission notes, as well as have the newsletter each week and a powerful communication tool. It comes highly recommended by other small schools and we will probably run it as a trial initially.

Fireflies ExhibitionA note about the Fireflies Project was sent home with students on Tuesday. Please make sure that you have read that and follow up if you wish to collect your artwork.

The artwork on display via the Bega Valley Regional Gallery’s online exhibition, as well as those displayed in Wild Ryes and the Commonwealth Bank in Merimbula are catching the eye and heart of many people.

All the student’s artworks can be enjoyed via: https://linktr.ee/begavalleyregionalgallery

Thanks so much to Vicki and Nicci for all the additional time and energy spent on this project creating a way for the student’s art and creative expression of the experience to shine, a challenge in these restricted times!

UpdatesPlease check if you have any updates at home still to return.

P&C NewsLunch OrdersLunch orders on a Friday will not be resuming at this stage while restrictions are still in place.
