BUZ (Build Up Zone)

Thornlie Primary School is now a BUZ school! BUZ Life Skills is a proactive, wholesome approach that enables children to develop emotional and social well being.

Students in Rooms 4, 5 and 6 have participated in a 3 hour BUZ Feel Safe Feel Right program to help them develop their Protective Behaviours. They will learn valuable principles like:

Sometimes children don’t know why they feel unsafe or not right or don’t know how to ask for help when they do. So, each child doing Feel Safe Feel Right has been given a red ladybug help card to help them to “get help and tell someone” they know and trust.

For more information, see Mrs Thomas (Chaplain).

www.buildupzone.com

- “Everyone has the right to feel safe and be respected” - “One thing 'worries' don’t like is being talked about, it makes them go away.” - “Find people you trust that you can talk about the things that wor-ry you.” - “If something doesn’t feel right it is best not to do it - talk to some-one you trust.” - “Nothing is so terrible that you can’t tell someone about it.” - “Your body has private parts – no one has the right to touch them unless they are helping you with a problem, but only with your per-mission” - “It is important to say NO to someone when”;

They are not treating you properly They are scaring or threatening you They touch you in a way that isn't right or you don’t like

They are teasing or hurting you or someone you love
