A Message From Mrs McKenzie
Working Bee Thank You
A massive thank you to the parents who came along to our Working Bee a fortnight ago. We
managed to get a lot of jobs completed and those pot holes in the parent car park filled in.
Regional Athletics Results
Congratulations to Abby, Riley, Moneve and Hamish for a fantastic effort at Regional Aths last
week. They all narrowly missed out on going on to State Champs. A huge effort!

Shrek The Musical Results
DVD Reminder— A friendly reminder that there is still a professionally filmed DVD available of the school production "Shrek - the Musical." This offer will only be available until October 30, 2019, so please don’t miss out on this opportunity if you wish to have a memory to keep for a lifetime. Each DVD will cost $25 and was filmed by a company called ‘School Memories Cap-tured’ using two cameras with zoom technology and powerful microphones. They package the DVD professionally with chapter guides installed so you can go straight to your child’s perfor-mance.
Thank you A massive thank you to Mavis Cassidy for donation her profit from the Pickers Festival.
Thank you to Michelle Dufus, Jasmine Csincsi, Ned Land, Anita Bleazby & Narelle Vass for your
donations towards our raffle hamper for the production. We raised $262. Thank you for all sup-
porting the school production. A special mention needs to go out to Chris (lighting and sound),
Matt Hancock (building stage and lightening stand), Barb Monahan and Emily Rumbold for help
with costumes and lastly to Geoff & Meredith Birnie for their amazing work in bringing the pro-
duction to life.

Get ready, get set for Walk to School 2019! Poowong Consolidated School has joined the hundreds of primary schools across Victoria for a fun month of walking, riding and scooting to and from school. By participating, we have a chance to win some great prizes! From next week, Monday 1th of October, we will be encouraging our entire school to walk, ride and scoot to school. If your child can’t walk, ride or scoot to school, there are heaps of ways they can still get involved in the fun. Parents can drop off their children a few blocks from the entrance to the school and walk the rest of the way. Bus travellers can also be involved by walking to their bus stop or part of the way. Kids are healthier and happier when they’re active every day. Walking kids to school is a great opportunity to get them active and build their confidence and life skills. It’s also a chance for everyone to spend some quality family time together. Teachers will be tracking how many students walk to school (or part of the way) each day and prizes will be awarded at the conclusion of the event. Our ‘Walk to school’ program will run for the next four weeks, concluding on Friday the 8th of November. Any questions please come and see Mrs Hallyburton or Mrs Lacanaria.
Have a wonderful weekend,

Helping your child’s teacher
Your child’s teacher is vitally interested in your child’s mathematical development. Talk to the teacher about how your child is
going in mathematics and find out weather there are any ways that can help your child.
Supporting teachers if they recommend any homework or home-based activities is highly desirable. Speaking positively about the
school and teachers builds a positive feeling in the child about school and learning.
Helpful gifts to promote mathematical thinking
These items as gifts help encourage your children to think mathematically.
Many of these things an be purchased cheaply from a $2 shop:
