Principal’s Prattle
Anzac Day
On Tuesday, we had a large representation from South St Primary School march at the Anzac day parade in Moe.
This is a very important day in the history of Australia when we remember all the service men and woman who have sacrificed their lives and
service to make Australia the great country it is today.
Thank you to the large number of children that
participated in the parade and did our school very proud. Thank you to our school captains who laid a wreath on behalf of South St Primary
School. Thank you to Mrs Wiggins, Mrs Cranston and the parents that attended to support our children.

NAPLAN
The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is an annual national assessment for all students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. Students participate in tests in reading, writ-ing, language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy.
This Year the test will be held on Tuesday May 9th – Thursday 11th May.
NAPLAN provides important information for students, parents and schools and participation should be encouraged in all school communities.
Principals are reminded that final decisions regarding participation in the NAPLAN rest with par-ents/carers. If you would like to discuss NAPLAN testing and whether you would like you child to participate, please see you child’s classroom teacher, Miss Di-Nuzzo or Mr. Tactor. 10th Annual Pyjama Drive 2017
How it works:
For the last 9 years Andrea Cobb at the Housing Call Centre has conducted an annual pyjama drive and arranged distribution of PJ’s to kids in foster care.
In 2016 Andrea received amazing support from work colleagues, family, friends, community groups including local schools, church groups and Facebook friends that they were able to do-nate 1350 new pairs of PJ’s to kids in care.
To date, with your help, Andrea has been able to distribute over 3500 pairs of PJ’s to local kids.
How you can help:
All you need to do is purchase a new pair of kid’s pyjamas for winter or summer. We need PJ’s for children starting at size 000, right up to a large in adults for both male and female. This ac-commodates all children and teenagers in foster care, however any sizes will be greatly appreci-ated. Andrea will then organise a collection/distribution date and all the new PJ’s will be issued to children throughout the State via Child Protection and Foster Care Agencies.
Get Involved:
Please, feel free to get your family and friends involved, the more the merrier.
Return date for the PJ’s will be Friday 26th May, drop off point being South St P.S Office.
