Respect Cooperation Kindness Perseverance
Dear Parents, Carers and Community End of Term 2
I think everyone is looking forward to
a lovely two week break with family
and friends.
The staff have worked extremely hard
to produce comprehensive and well
thought out reports for each student.
It is a time consuming and strenuous
part of teaching and learning, for
which I feel our staff have completed
in a very professional manner.
On Friday 28th June I had a visit from
Shannon Wassman from the
Wheatbelt Regional Office and I
worked with her regarding planning
for my own leadership and
achievements that I would like to
implement for the remainder of the
year.
This term has gone so fast and I have
been Principal for six great weeks. As
part of the team concept we are
creating towards teaching and
learning, the staff will be working on
the School Development Day,
Monday 22nd
July, to identify
Professional Learning, Goal Setting,
Problem Solving and Focus for
Semester Two. The students return
to school on Tuesday 23rd
July.
I have some individual goals for
Miling Primary School and will be
working extremely hard to facilitate
and accommodate those goals for
our students.
I wish you all a very safe and relaxing
holiday break with all of your children
being home to enjoy the advantages
of family time!
Thank you for your warm support during my first term at Miling Primary School and I look forward to moving the school and students forward to achieve success for the rest of the year.
School Focus
Our previous two-week focus had
been on EFFORT. Students have
written or had their pictures taken
when they had exhibited this focus.
This has proven to be very
successful.
At the assembly on Tuesday I drew
two lunch order prizes for two
students who have either won a
PRIDE or an EFFORT
acknowledgement.
We will consolidate the PRIDE and
EFFORT focus for our last week and
begin a new focus on Week 1, Term
3.
▪Caitlyn Pratt won her school
lunch for PRIDE
▪ Molly McCuish won her school
lunch for EFFORT
Our Current Attendance Rate is
95.3% for Semester One.
Please ensure the school is informed
regarding student absences as soon
as possible. Extended absences will
need to be authorised by the
Principal as this appears on our
Attendance Report. Continued next page ...

Western Australian Football Competition
Congratulations to Jett Seymour for winning the competition is open to all students from Year 3-6 in Western Australia. In the Year ¾ category the starter was ... There was only one present left under the Christmas tree and it had my name on it. I grabbed it and quickly ripped at the wrapping paper. Wow, just what I wanted, a shiny new red footy! But, there was something different about this football…
An independent judging panel assessed the entries using the NAPLAN narrative marking guide. Mike Hind, our WA Football Commission Representative, came to the school on Tuesday to present Jett with his award. What a fantastic effort from Jett! Science Aspirant Camp
Congratulations to Hayden Topham who has been selected with a number of other students from our
region to attend a Science Aspirant Camp in Perth from 30th July until 2nd August.
It is terrific to see our students excelling in the academic field.
Outstanding Administrative Support Office Award
Mrs Jones was presented with a WAECSSA Certificate of Recognition to acknowledge her fantastic dedication, loyalty and commitment to the school, its staff, students and parents.
NAIDOC Acknowledgement
This will take place on the first day back in Term 3, Tuesday 23rd July. The school will have visiting Rangers from Cervantes that will come and present information regarding the environment and animals in our region. The students will be completing some artwork, digital technology, literacy and language activities on the day. Leaving and Returning to School
Please be aware that if your child needs to leave school early, they need to be signed out from the class-room. If they return on the same day, or have an appointment and arrive late to school, please ensure that a member of staff is aware of the fact that your child has arrived at school to ensure that we have the right information in Integris regarding your child’s attendance. This process is part of the mandatory re-porting requirements for every school.
Reporting to Parents
Please ensure that you read your child/children’s reports carefully then share your thinking with them regarding the effort and progress during semester one. This is a terrific opportunity to encourage student/s to perhaps set some goals for the remainder of the year. We will be focussing on goal setting for second semester to both consolidate and support progress for all of our student learning.
Regards
Ms Murray,

This term we have been looking at roads and how they often separate natural landscapes. A variety of animals in urban and rural settings need to cross roads to access resources such as food, water, breeding sites or mates. This is often hazardous and unfortunately many animals are injured or killed in car collisions.
The Juniors looked at some bridges, then designed and made a model of a structure that animals can use to cross a road safely.
Senior Room In Term 1, the Senior Room students entered a writing
competition run by the WA Football Commission. The
competition is open to all Year 3 – 6 students in Western
Australia with one winner from each year selected. This
week we were very pleased to discover that Jett
Seymour was the Year 4 winner. Congratulation Jett.
Congratulations also to Hayden Topham on being
selected to attend the Year Six Inland Lighthouse
Network Science Aspirant Camp which is being held early
next term.

‘Goal setting is the process of deciding what you want to accomplish and devising a plan to achieve the result you desire. ...
For effective goal setting, you need to do more than just decide what you want to do; you also have to work at accomplishing whatever goal you have set.’
