The results are as follows:

1st place - Gold Geckoes 2nd place- Green Pythons 3rd place - Blue Roos 4th place - Redbacks

CLASS NEWS Figuritive Language in C1 C1 has been discovering all about figurative language in their English lessons. They wrote some fantastic metaphor sentences about Space. See below for some examples of their work. Metaphors are when you compare two things that aren't the same but have something in common.

The stars are crumbs from an alien eating the moon.

The sun is a red bright heart giving life to the atmosphere.

The stars are little pearls scattered everywhere throughout the universe.

The stars are scattered gems waiting for the right time to fall.

The sun was a glittering shiny ball brightening the whole universe.

The Earth is a swirled-up sea flowing around the planets.

The moon is a burnt-out, shining aura circling around the Earth.

The sun is flaming hot Cheetos burning everyone’s mouth.

Pluto is a marshmallow that has been put in a giant freezer for ten years.

Asteroids are gumballs rolling across a candy tray.

The stars are light bulbs glowing when needed.

The black hole is a never-ending pit of disaster in a different world.

The star is a mini-moon, scattered around space like glitter that has fallen out of its container.

The stars are like torches in the sky lighting mysterious places.

Earth is a marble, spinning gracefully and slowly.

The Earth is a giant eyeball staring at the moon.

The sun is a very red hot pepper in the sky.

The meteor is a flaming bomb in the sky.

The moon is a grey grenade thrown up in the sky that has never fallen down.

CHAPLAIN’S CHAT A warm hello to all parents and caregivers, I am the new Chaplain starting week 3, Term 4 at South Thornlie Primary School. I am eager to become a part of this welcoming and vibrant school.

My heart is to make lasting meaningful connections across the school, and to nurture the wellbeing and personal growth of students to see them flourish in their time at South Thornlie Primary School and beyond. This will be done through building a rapport with students, creating space for intentional conversations both formal and informal, as well as running specific student minded programs to assist students and develop relationships.

I wanted to take this opportunity to let all parents, caregivers, staff and students know that I am available for conversations and catch ups to chat about any concerning matters. I will be working on Thursdays, parents and caregivers please sign in through the front office before visiting me. I am also contactable via email: [email protected]
