  • JOPLIN MISSOURI

....All that is required for this disaster to be worse is for good folks to do noth-ing. We did something.

  • Many special thanks to those who brought in so many helpful items to the so-cial last week and helped out the Team Psych Give Back effort to those folks in Joplin Missouri. You may still drop these by the home or office of Mark Davis until this Thursday. These will be shipped to Team BMAX in Ozark Missouri. They in turn will send it to their church which gets it to Joplin for relief. The Tri Community is Giving Back! I had said previously all that is required for this disaster to be worse is for good folks to do nothing. We did something. Thank You Team Psych for stepping up when asked. Hi Mark- just got off the phone with you and wanted to Thank you for your kind-ness towards the people in Joplin who are dealing with the aftermath of the dev-astating Tornado. I hope you find the list of items helpful in letting people know how they can be a part of the relief effort. I mentioned cash donations and real-ized there's a way people can donate online. Our church has set up a website to help coordinate relief efforts and people can go there to donate online or send checks with supplies made out to JRA and specify Tornado Relief in the memo. We've got a Duathlon Series going on Tues. and will tell the folks there about your Club's kindness and will hopefully get the athletes to contribute to your efforts as well, so that all of us together can help make a difference! Thanks again and if there's any need you guys have that we can help with, please let us know!

BMAX Body Mechanix Athletics 6100 N. 19th St.

We are lucky. We have had blessed weather. We are outside working

out. We have our homes intact. We are not burying our family or

friends. Once again, from the heart of El Fuego all the thanks and grati-

tude to your willingness to help Tri Clubs in the Missouri area help folks

    in the Joplin Missouri area.

  • I rode Cross Florida ride from Cocoa Beach to Weeki Wachi to-day. The route was 170 miles but some wrong turns took it up to 175. Net bike time was 8hrs 30 mins (20.54 mph avg thanks to pack riding) and total time with stops including 1 flat was 9hrs 20 mins. Why does my ass hurt and what do I do about it now? :) Paul Hough

Dear Paul Uhhhcuz you rode for 9 hours and 20 minutes. Even if you rode is a car that long your arse would be sore. That must be quite a mermaid show to ride that farhope it was worth it. While you are sitting in your ice filled tub enjoying an adult beverage you might want to review this list of things to consider before you go on your next adven-ture. 1. Stand on the pedals once in a while (or at least shift your position on the seat). 2. Adjust the tilt of your saddle 3 Grease Up 4. Try a different style underwear 5. Adjust your bike. 6. Get a pair of real bike shorts (and ditch the underwear altogether) 7. Lose weight... Eat less, ride more 8. Change your saddle- have you tried ISM?? *Know the distance between your sit bones *Buy a saddle wide enough to support your sit bones. *Buy a saddle that fits your riding style - wide for leisure, narrower for speed. *Keep trying until you find one that fits your personal anatomy. 9. Get a new bike 10. Get a recumbent 11. Treat true, infected saddle sores as a medical problem. Wishing your booty a speedy recovery!! La Fuega

    the works) (dream job)

Passions outside Triathlon: hunting and fishing

Family Information: Husband is James Haislop, twin boys Bowen and Zach-

    ary (3yrs old)

Key Race or goal for the season: just do my best and have fun at Sprint Na-

    tional Championships in Burlington, VT

Athletic history before triathlon: varsity soccer and softball in high school,

    and cycling

Triathlete for how many seasons: this is my second season

Currently my bike is a: Quintana Roo Seduza

My dream bike is a Scott Plasma 3

Philosophies: There is no I cant or I quite. There is only the fear of fail-ure.

Biggest obstacle I overcame in becoming a triathlete: losing all the weight and

tiredness that came with being a new mother.

What is your greatest triathlon moment or story? My last race at Crystal River

Series #1 when I had to ask someone if my placing was really first

What inspires me is the will and determination not to give up no matter the cir-

cumstances. I have the Army to thank for instilling those;)

My favorite part about triathlon is it helped in healing my PTSD by giving me an outlet to work out my frustration and axiety, as well as allow me to meet

a great bunch of people who love life and triathlons as much as I do.

    Guilty Pleasures:

Philosophies/Quotes/Mottos: Live Fast Die Young, Tri until I Die!

What drew you to Team Psych? The Beer. You guys throw some good socials.

No, it was the camaraderie and the super nice people.

It is true, ninety percent of get-

ting in shape is mental. Its the same truth for peak performance.

    Whether a couch potato needing

motivation to get and remain ac-

tive and healthy, or an advanced

athlete seeking the edge to push

    your limits to maximum perform-

ance we need to believe. Its not just the physical skills, it is the

    cognitive skills of motivation, de-

  • This is a Team Psych Must Do race. Great race, course and hospitality, all the goodies you would like. To register

    go to http://www.heartlandtri.org/

I have just registered for the heartland Triathlon in Sebring. If you have not

done this race you are missing out on a triathlon gem. A dozen of us stormed

this great event last summer. This is a great race if you are a Tri Virgin. Sweet

lake swim, fast bike course and a run with folks cheering you. Great opportu-

nity to meet their guest pro featured every year. I got the two night package

with dinner with Macca, party Friday night, training session the following day.

    The whole town

    is out to cheer

    you on to the

    finish line.

    Wonderful
