Our Corporate Identity

Corporate Identity is not only helpful in communicating a companys philosophy, legacy, values and

services, it is essential in establishing and maintaining a companys presence in the crowded marketplace. Also, it serves as the foundation on which a company builds a trusting relationship withcustomers, suppliers and stakeholders that will last for years.

Samling is renowned as a company with vision and integrity in all aspects of its business; from managingforest resources to delivering world-class quality wood products to business partners and customersworldwide.

Such reputation takes years to build. Therefore, it is vital that we protect and build on our brand bymaintaining a consistent visual presentation and maximum recognition of the Samling brand across allmedia. This can be achieved by adhering to the rules and guidelines illustrated in this manual at all times.

You can help in preserving the integrity of Samlings Corporate Identity by:

Reviewing your existing applications and making changes where necessary in accordance to thestandards set in this manual.

Referring to this manual in all future applications of our Corporate Identity across all media.

How to Use this Manual

This manual is designed to provide the rules and guidelines to standardise the use of Samlings

Corporate Identity across all communication channels.

Important:

All branding rules and guidelines stated within may NOT be altered, unless otherwise stated.

1. Core elements of the LogoThe Samling logo has four core elements:

the symbol

the logotype

the corporate typeface

the corporate colours

The relationships between all four elements are demonstrated in this manual in full colour, singlecolour and reverse variations, and in horizontal and vertical formats.

2. Pantone Matching System (PMS)

Use the PMS colour artworks for print applications such as corporate stationery, signage, promotionalmaterial, clothing and print advertising. The PMS colour artworks are included in the enclosed CD-ROM, which can be used on both Mac and PC.

3. RGB

Convert the PMS artworks into RGB for onscreen applications such as television, internet andcomputer graphics.

Make sure that the correct format and colours are selected based on the medium used.

The choice of which artwork to use also depends on production limitations and size of the medium,such as promotional material and clothing.

GlossaryThe following terms are explained in the context of their uses inthis manual.

CORPORATE IDENTITY The totality of images, ideas and reputation of a brand in the minds ofpeople who come into contact with it, as well as the image that the brand istrying to project.

CORPORATE COLOURS A standardised set of colours used by a brand in all its communications topreserve the brands identity.

CORPORATE TYPEFACE A typeface specically developed or chosen by a brand to support andcomplement its visual identity. It is used across the brands communications.

LOGOTYPE The name of the brand written in a standardised format, often in itscorporate typeface and used as a logo, or part of a logo, across all of thebrands communications.

PMS Pantone Colour Matching System; an international colour swatch numberingsystem used to provide a method for the selection, specication, andmatching of colours.

POINT A unit of measurement used in the specication of type, approximately0.35mm. There are 72 points in one inch.

RANGED LEFT The rst word of each line is aligned vertically with no indent.

SYMBOL An icon or image used to form part of a brands logo.

TYPEFACE A particular style or appearance of letters which make up an alphabet.
