Owning the infrastructure that supports your failover platform requires a large capital investment in what usually ends up as under-utilised computing capacity. Traditional third party solutions that provide replacement hardware are cumbersome and no longer represent value for money. Owning the infrastructure that supports your failover platform requires a large capital investment in what usually ends up as under-utilised computing capacity.

Traditional third party solutions that provide replacement hardware are cumbersome and no longer represent value for money. Furthermore, in the age of mobile and home working, standby desks, seats and phones are not always required. Cloud Contnuity negates nearly every requirement for the traditional DR solution.

How does it work? We’ll set you up with your own isolated Cloud estate and configure your Redstor Backup service to continuously restore your key systems as virtual machines in the platform.

Each of these systems will be incrementally restored to the Cloud infrastructure, whenever a new backup is successfully transmitted to the Redstor data centres, and regardless of whether the source is physical or virtual.

As a user of the service, you’ll have the ability to log-in to the Cloud platform at any time, power on and use your recovered systems, make configuration changes or even initiate a full disaster recovery.

In effect, Cloud Continuity delivers not only disaster recovery as a service (DRaaS) but also provides a fully functioning test and development environment.

Redstor Cloud ContinuityCloud Continuity enables you to recover all your systems in the Cloud, recreate your on-premise networks and provide your users with secure remote access to those systems from wherever, whenever it might be required, all for a flat price per GB.

Expert ConsultationDuring an initial consultation, Redstor will look to understand your business continuity plan and how it relates to the systems you protect. This helps us ensure that the solution can meet your desired recovery point and time objectives, as well as ensuring that users of your systems will have appropriate access to them in a disaster scenario, be that via a point-to-point VPN with your disaster recovery site or with workers having secure access from home.

High PerformanceThe Redstor Backup Plus client is exceptionally fast. Large amounts of data in very complex data formats can be processed without overloading the client. Servers with millions of files and terabytes of data can be processed easily, even in a limited backup window.

Client-Side Data De-duplicationThe heart of the Redstor Online Backup client is a powerful and efficient client-side data de-duplication mechanism. Each backup session is a delta backup, meaning that all client data is checked against the data that is already available on the Service Platform on a very granular, sub-file (block) level. This typically results in a reduction of the backup volume by as much as 98.5-99.5% on a daily basis.

SecurityEach backup client is installed with its own encryption key, chosen and known only by the customer, which is stored encrypted on the client and is never sent to the backup server. Data is encrypted, at source, with a choice of 128-bit AES, 256-bit AES or 448 bit Blowfish encryption prior to transmission. The data cannot be read without the encryption key and is not visible to Redstor other than in its encrypted format.

Delta RestoreA high percentage of restores are typically single files or small sets of files caused by application or human errors. Usually in these cases, part of the data that needs to be restored is still present on the server as part of a previous version or corrupted file.

With Delta Restore, the software checks the original location of the data for active data blocks. It compares these blocks with the ones on the backup server, requesting only the differences between the current and desired version of the file to be transferred over the network, resulting in fast restore speeds. This feature is particularly useful for the restoration of very large files, such as databases, as it can reduce the data volume that needs to be transferred over the network by as much as 99%, increasing recovery speed and drastically reducing downtime.

Long Term RetentionData can be retained long term in order to comply with legal requirements. Copies can be retained for customisable periods up to and over 7 years.

Item Level RecoveryRemove the operational headaches associated with performing item level restores in Exchange, SQL and Sharepoint. Redstor Online Backup removes the need to run legacy systems or recovery databases by enabling “drag-and-drop” item level restore through an intuitive user interface.
