Devon Bronson, Anderson:Bronson had a monstrous senior sea-

son for the Titans both on the moundand at the plate. The Anderson acewas a perfect 8-0 with six completegames and posted a 2.19 ERA with 86strikeouts in 60.2 innings. Bronsonwas equally dangerous at the plate andhit .466 with 32 RBI and 11 stolen bases.

Jordan Conti, Trenton: TheTrojan first baseman earned Division2 second-team all-state honors with a.336 average with team-highs in homeruns (four) and RBI (27). The three-year starter was also named to theall-league, all-district and all-regionteams.

Gino Darin, Richard: A near-.500hitter, Darin hit .494 for the Pioneersduring the regular season, coming upwith 39 hits, 34 runs and 30 RBI in 79at-bats. Darin topped off the year byearning all-academic, all-Catholic, all-

district and all-region honors.

Chase Keathley, Truman: Thesenior hurler ended his career atTruman in impressive fashion witha .388 batting average and 21 RBI to

go with a 6-5 record on the mound.Keathley has signed to attend and playfor Indiana Tech next year.

Hunter Matt, Roosevelt: The foot-ball standout had another solid seasonfor the Bears with a .419 batting aver-age and a .476 on-base percentage. Thesenior led the Bears with 39 hits.

Jose Salinas, Allen Park: Salinaswas one of the most dangerous hittersin the area and hit .459 with 26 RBI anda team-leading 50 hits.

Mark Vyletel, Kennedy: Vyletelhad another strong season for theEagles and hit over .400 for the secondtime in the last three years. A playerwho can hit anywhere in the order, thethree-year captain led Kennedy with a.412 batting average with 23 RBI and 10steals.

Eric Wilk, Cabrini: The seniorleft fielder and pitcher went 4-2 on themound with 38 strikeouts and a 2.84ERA. At the plate, Wilk hit .458 with44 hits, 43 RBI, and 24 runs. He also

stole 14 bases and bombed four homeruns. The standout was named to theAll-Catholic League team and was All-State in Division 3 a season ago.

Nick Willetts, Allen Park: Willettswas one of the most dominant pitchersin the Downriver League this seasonand posted a 9-2 record, a miniscule1.00 ERA and recorded 51 strikeouts in70.1 innings of work.

Blake Wojtala, Trenton: Wojtaladid a bit of everything for the Trojansthis season, but made his biggestimpact on the mound. In 71.2 innings,the senior posted a 7-2 record with a1.56 ERA and 77 strikeouts. When hewasnt on the mound, he was a solidshortstop and hit .354 with 19 RBI.Wojtala was named to the all-league,all-district and all-region teams andwas named team MVP.

Decision time came a few months agofor Southgates Devon Bronson.

The multi-sport star at AndersonHigh School had to decide which sportto concentrate on in college.

And although he is a great wrestler andhad excellent football potential, in the end, hewent with the game he loves baseball.

Bronson, a left-handed pitcher and afine hitter, will attend Eastern MichiganUniversity next year on a baseball scholar-ship.

Bronson won 11 varsity letters during hisfour years at Anderson.

He was on varsity baseball as a fresh-man and received four varsity letters asAndersons pitcher and centerfielder.

Bronson led his team to three district base-ball championships.

My most exciting game was this years dis-trict finals, Bronson said. Winning districts

my senior year was the best. I felt like it wasthe best game I had played.Bronsons four-year varsity baseball coach

Dave Fast said, Devon was a three-sport ath-lete and as a freshman you could tell he wasgoing to be a pretty special athlete.

He really grew up as a person and a stu-dent through high school; once he got hisacademics squared away he was set.

To top offthe end ofBronsonssenior yearhe wasselectedto playin the 31stMichiganHigh SchoolBaseball CoachesAssociationEast-West All-StarGame at ComericaPark last month.

Bronson didnot just play highschool baseball, he alsograced the summer teamsthe Downriver Hawks andthe Taylor Storm.

And his accomplish-ments did not stop at thehigh-school level.

With the Taylor Storm wewon the C.A.B.A World Series,he said. I was named to first-team all-tournament team and Iwon the home run derby.
