    BROWNSTOWN TWP. Several family-fun proj-ect are in the works for therecreation campus at theKing/Telegraph Road area,but two planned baseballdiamonds are not exactly ahome run with everyone.

    Several residents ofLloyds Mobile Home Park,20665 Telegraph Road, have expressed concerns about the

    proximity of the diamonds to their properties.The proposed diamonds are part of a multiple phase of

    recreational projects, which include a dog park, walkingpaths, soccer fields, an event barn and more.

    Construction has yet to begin on the diamonds, but someresidents of the mobile home park are trying to strike theproject.

    Sharon Kriss lives right behind the proposed park andsaid she is somewhat the representative for those opposingthe diamonds.

    She said she spoke to the township Board of Trusteessome time ago and expressed concerns about potentialnoise, littering, rude behavior and other issues.

    Kriss said she did her homework before addressing theboard by visiting the current diamonds across King Road.She said some residents are concerned about baseballs

    BROWNSTOWN TWP. Aninvestigation into a fatal accident onTelegraph Road near Cora has beencompleted, but police are not yetreleasing information on what stepswill be taken.

    A single-car accident claimed thelife of Casandra Mazanec, 23, of NewBoston at about 11:30 p.m. Feb. 16.

    According to police, the preliminaryinvestigation shows that the vehicleMazanec was in with a 27-year-oldman, also of New Boston, left the road-

    way northbound on Telegraph and raninto a ditch, where the car rolled.

    Police said Mazanec was pinned bythe vehicle and was partially ejected.

    She was pronounced dead at thescene.

    It is not clear if Mazanec or theother occupant was driving, policesaid.

    Police have not released the name ofthe other person in the vehicle.

    He was transported to a hospital.Police said his injuries were not lifethreatening.

    Although numerous snow squalls

    were reported earlier that day andseveral accidents occurred as a result,police said Telegraph Road was dry atthat time.

    Police still have not determined thecause of the accident.

    DETROIT A Fraser man faces up totwo years in prison after pleading guilty to

    trying to run over a kitten in Woodhavenand then throwing it out of a moving car.

    At a pretrial conference in Wayne CountyCircuit Court on Friday, Justin SamuelCoppola pleaded guilty to animal killing/torturing, a felony, in exchange for prosecu-tors dropping lesser misdemeanor chargesof animal cruelty and reckless driving.

    Coppola, 20, had been scheduled to goto trial April 29. He now will be sentencedMarch 26.

    Coppola was arrested Oct. 4 after anoff-duty Taylor police officer reportedwatching him try to run over a kitten in the

    Woodhaven Meijer parking lot.The officer told investigators that after

    multiple errant passes, Coppola picked upthe kitten and left the lot in his car. At KingRoad and Millbury Drive in Woodhaven,

    the officer, who was tailing behind, saidCoppola threw the kitten out of his passen-ger window and continued driving. He wasultimately arrested by Riverview police.

    The next day, an animal control officerfound a kitten hiding in some brush just offthe intersection. It was in fine health andhas been adopted.

    Coppolas attorney did not immediatelyreturn a message seeking comment.
