    The NHL lockout has one happy side effect: Trentonproduct Andy Greene, who plays for the New JerseyDevils, will be available for a special ceremony tonightas the Trenton Trojans begin their 2012-13 home seasonagainst traditional rival Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook.

    Greene, who graduated from Trenton in 2001, willbe on hand as his high school jer-sey number is retired. Betweenthe first and second periods ofWednesdays game, a banner cel-

    ebrating Green and retiring his No.8 will be raised into the KennedyRecreation Centers rafters alongwith Trentons state championshipbanners.

    Greene played three seasons withthe Trojans, helping them to a statechampionship his freshman year.The ninth-grader scored a goal in

    the 3-2 championship game win over Grosse PointeSouth at the end of that season.

    Green made the all-state Dream Team as a sophomoreand was named Michigans Mr. Hockey after his junioryear.

    Before his senior year, Greene joined the Compuwarehockey organization, where he played two years. In histime there, he was team captain and part of a nationalchampionship team.

    From there, Greene played four years at in the CCHAat Miami of Ohio, where he earned All-American hon-

    ors his senior year.An undrafted free agent, he signed with the Devils in2006 and has played with them since, signing a series ofcontracts with the New Jersey team, including the four-year deal he is currently working on.

    In the off-season, Green returns to Trenton where heruns a week-long summer hockey camp, whose proceedsgo to benefit such organizations as the Trenton BaseballAssociation and the Trenton Hockey Association.

    Veteran Trenton Coach Mike Turner, who coachedGreene all three of his years at Trenton, said Greenesgenerosity in giving back to his hometown, in addi-tion to his on-ice accomplishments are what promptedtonights celebration.

    The Trenton-Cranbrook game gets under way at 7:30p.m.

    A week after Roosevelt

    recorded its school-record11th football win of theseason and second-everregional championship, thegreatest football season inBears history came to anend Saturday afternoon ina 31-3 loss to BirminghamBrother Rice in the Division2 state semifinals at CarlsonHigh School.

    The Warriors (11-2) scoredat least one touchdownin each quarter and heldRoosevelt to only threepoints which came on a38-yard field goal by JacobSimpson late in the firsthalf.

    It seemed like we moved

    the ball well at times, but wehad the same problem wevehad the last couple weeksand we just couldnt find away to score once we got inthe redzone, said RooseveltCoach Ron Adams, whoseBears had been held to onetouchdown in its last threegames.

    Brother Rice openedthe scoring with a 29-yardtouchdown pass fromCheyne Lacanaria to SergioPerkovic four minutes intothe first quarter.

    The Warriors held a

    seven-point advantagefor most of the half untildefensive end Kevin Henryrushed into the Rooseveltbackfield and stole anKevin Matejko handoff o anattempted draw play.

    Six plays later, an 18-

    yard Shon Powell rungave Brother Rice a 14-0advantage with 3:29 left inthe half.

    Roosevelt went on itsmost successful drive of thegame on the ensuing pos-session, driving down to the
