By Greg Domorski POINT PLEASANT — Sometimes, teams go into the season with more questions than answers and hope for the best. That is exactly what the Point Pleasant Boro boys soccer team is doing this season. The Panthers lost plenty of key players last season to graduation, including Jordan LaCour, Mike Cappello, Lou Pazienza, Bryan Brodeur, goalkeeper Ed Moran and defenseman Derek Haller. Tori Remondelli looked ready to pick up the torch, but his torn ACL further depleted the Panthers’ roster. Fortunately, two key senior returners — Shaun Cooke and Michael Henrich — are expected to take leadership roles, leading the Panthers in an effort to improve upon last season’s 12-7 record. Cooke recently recovered from a sprained ankle injury he suffered during a camp at Rutgers University in late June. He returned to playing soccer in late August. The senior class is filled with talent in sweeper Maggie Loundy — who head coach Shaun Burstein said will be “one of the pre- mier sweepers of the Shore” — defenseman Charlie Hesse and strikers Erin Springsteen and Jessica Crane. The Gulls also return a strong junior class that features midfielders Nicole Meyer, Morgan Sartori, Morgan Ludwig and Kristen Enoch. The sophomore contingent of Haley Ray, Kayla Schardien and Morgan LaDuca will provide strong support.
