RDAC Application

RDAC-Repeater Diagnostics and

Control

RDAC is a new application from Motorola that allows a

manager or operator of a MOTOTRBO network to

diagnose and or control MOTOTRBO repeaters. RDAC

provides a great level of convenience, allowing to react

quickly to any problems that may arise in the network.

A system manager can control the operation of a

MOTOTRBO repeater connected locally or connected

via an IP network in an IP Site Connect network,

therefore diagnose and control in an IP site network can

be accomplished from a few feet to hundreds of miles.

trigger the Emergency

Mode at any time by

pressing the radios

emergency button.

Lone Worker The radio at predetermined

intervals issues a Lone

Worker alert. The operator

must press a button on the

radio to acknowledge the

alert. If the operator fails to

acknowledge the alert and

Mode.

Man Down The operator wears the

radio on his belt. A “Tilt

Switch” in the radio

detects the orientation of

the operator. If the radio

detects that the operator

has been tilted over for an

extended period, after

pre-warning the operator

the radio enters

Emergency Mode.

Dead Man The operator wears the

radio on his belt. A “Motion

Sensor” in the radio

detects the motion of the

operator. If the radio

detects that the operator

has been still for an

extended period, after pre-

warning the operator the

radio enters Emergency

Mode.

GeoFence Any radio equipment with

GPS can have GeoFences

Encryption Features Voice/Data Encryption Features

Types of Privacy

MOTOTRBO offers two type of privacy mechanisms - Basic and Enhanced. Both of them utilize Motorola

proprietary mechanisms/algorithms and therefore are not interoperable with other vendor’s privacy offerings.

Basic Privacy provides minimal content protection :

•The Basic Privacy uses a non-cryptographic algorithm to transform plain voice/data into protected voice/data. It is

possible for an adversary to obtain the key by storing a few Over-the-Air voice or data packets and performing few

simple mathematical operations.

•The Basic Privacy uses 16 bit keys. A user selects a key from 255 predefined keys stored in the CPS. The limited

number of possible keys makes it easy for an adversary to guess the key in-use.

Enhanced Privacy provides robust resistance:

•The Enhanced Privacy uses a cryptographic algorithm to transform plain voice/data into protected voice/data. The

algorithm is the well-known ARC4. (Alleged RC4) and is same as RC41.

•The Enhanced Privacy uses 40 bit long keys. A radio can store up to 16 keys, approximately 1 trillion.

•The extra payload bits reduces the voice quality, the reduction in voice quality is barely noticeable.

Governmental Level Encryption

256 AES Encryption is available as a cost option to provide governmental level encryption.
