The Model Prayer: Brief But Comprehensive

1. We Should Offer Praise To The Father (6:9)2. We Should Give Priority To The Kingdom

1. “Thy Kingdom Come”

2. “Thy Will Be Done On Earth, As It Is In Heaven”

1. We Must Know His Will (John 17:17)

2. We Must Do His Will Ourselves (Matthew 5:3, 17; 6:4, 5, 7, 16; 6:19 – 21, 33; 7:21)

3. We Must Pray And Do All That We Can That God’s Will Be Done In The Lives Of All People (1 Timothy 2:3 – 4; Ephesians 5:22 – 27)

Therefore Two Necessary Changes To The Model Prayer

1. We Must Omit The Petition, “Thy Kingdom Come,” In The Sense The Kingdom Has Come In The Church.

2. We Must Include The Words, “In The Name Of Jesus,” As Jesus Commanded (John 14:13 – 14; Colossians 3:17).
