PRAYER OF INVOCATION

O God, through the offering of our worship,

may we become more open people…

open-handed in heeding your call for charity

and love…

forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever. Amen.

*GLORIA PATRI Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is

now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen

ANTHEM: “Dear Lord and Father of Mankind”

Words by John Greenleaf Whittier (1807-1892)

Music by C. Hubert H. Parry (1848-1918)

Dear Lord and Father of mankind, Drop Thy still dews of quietness,

Forgive our foolish ways! Till all our striving cease:

Reclothe us in our rightful mind: Take from our souls the strain and stress,

ln purer lives, Thy service find, And let our ordered lives confess

ln deeper reverence, praise. The beauty of Thy peace.

ln simple trust like theirs who heard, Breathe through the heats of our desire

Beside the Syrian sea, Thy coolness and Thy balm;

The gracious calling of the Lord, Let sense be dumb, let flesh retire; ,

Let us, like them, without a word. Speak through the earthquake, wind, and fire,

MORNING PRAYER

God be with you.

And also with you.

Lift up your hearts.

We lift them to God.

Let us give thanks to God Most High.

It is right to give God thanks and praise.

Let us offer our silent prayers…

OFFERTORY ANTHEM: “The Gift of Love”

Tune: English folk tune “O Waly Waly”

Arranged by Hal H. Hopson (b. 1933)

Rebecca Shrimpton, soprano

Though I may speak with bravest fire,

And have the gift to all inspire,

And have not love; my words are vain,

As sounding brass, and hopeless gain.

Though I may give all I possess,

And striving so my love profess,

But not be given by love within,

The profit soon turns strangely thin.

Come, spirit, come, our hearts control,

Our spirits long to be made whole.

Let inward love guide every deed.;

By this we worship and are freed.

*DOXOLOGY Praise God from whom all blessings flow, Praise God all creatures here below,

Praise God above ye heavenly host, Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

*HYMN: “Alleluia! Gracious Jesus!” NCH #257 black

Beginning in January there will be containers in

the Chapel and Narthex for grocery donations, it

is the hope of the Mission Committee that these

will be reminders that one item from each family's

routine grocery shopping trip will go a long way

towards fulfilling the mission of our local food

pantries. Interested in helping out with missions projects?

on the first and third Thursday of each month, next gathering

February 16. We will start promptly at 6:00 PM and end at 7:00 PM.

We will be praying in one accord, a form of conversational prayer.

Friends, Our Country, The World! You may pray along silently or pray

aloud.

We continue with a new selection for February; “Hissing

Cousins: The Lifelong Rivalry of Eleanor Roosevelt and

Alice Roosevelt Longworth” by Marc Peyser and Timothy

hated the limelight; Republican Alice was an opponent of big

government who gained notoriety for her cutting remarks. Amazon We are

going to meet next on February 27 @ 7 pm at Nancy Peterson’s home.

All are welcome!
